Chapter 1728: Marriage (2)
Chapter 1728: Marriage (2)
The Pope walked into the chapel, looking at the woman who was kneeling and praying in front of the cross.
The Pope quietly approached her and sat down in the front-row seat.
After a while, Sera opened her eyes. "Teacher..."
"Still praying? At this rate, people might pray to you." The Pope chuckled.
"Even though I have strayed far from my faith, there are things that don’t change." Sera shook her head.
The Pope smiled. "You are very beautiful right now. They helped you put it on?"
"Yes. Several saintesses are helping me with this gown. I have to thank them for that."
"You look very beautiful right now. I guess I have to say Nathan is a lucky man."
"I should be the one who is lucky. If it hadn’t been for me being excluded and branded as a fallen saintess, I wouldn’t have met him in that desert. Things like this wouldn’t happen.
"I thought I would be dedicating myself as a nun, never marrying anyone for my entire life. I would serve the Lord and help as many people as possible.
"But I wonder if I have the right to be this happy."
The Pope smiled. "You have the right to be happy. Everyone has the right to be happy. The path might be slightly different, but that is life. That’s why we’re humans.
"If you feel happy and continue to help people, that’s already good enough. Don’t ever lose yourself."
Sera smiled. She politely lowered her head. "Teacher. Thank you for taking care of me all this time. I know that you’ve been doing your best to handle the matter of me being a fallen saintess. If it hadn’t been for you, the reaction from the Holy Kingdom would have been much fiercer."
"That’s what I should do. That’s what other people should do. So, you don’t have to thank me. That’s what our teaching is all about."
"I know. Unfortunately, teachings and actions are usually different." Sera smiled.
The Pope nodded. "I am glad that you grow this way."
"That’s why, Teacher... No, Father... Please give me the blessing for this marriage."
The Pope was silent for a moment before smiling from ear to ear. "You have my blessing. Be happy."
...
"Boss, have you heard that she’s already finished putting on the dress?" One of the Dragon King’s subordinates asked while holding a glass of ale.
"I know, right? I heard from the maid that she had finished. Can I see her?"
"Boss, congratulations!"
The Dragon King had just finished his matter and returned, only to be met with such words.
He was taken aback and panicked.
"No way! I’m not going to let you see her." The Dragon King shouted and rushed back to his mansion.
The Dragon King was trying to figure out where she was going. Eventually, he ended up reaching the garden. Just like Selena, she was trying to admire the scenery, wondering how she would look during the ceremony.
However, Alavenya felt extremely embarrassed. All this time, she had been acting like a tomboy. She had never worn anything like this before.
Although Selena and the others had been helping her with some stuff, the wedding dress simply made such a big difference.
In the end, she sat right outside the garden, trying to distract her thoughts by looking at it.
The Dragon King’s footsteps echoed across the hallway.
Alavenya tensed up. Her face turned red. She was wearing a long white gown like the others, coupled with a separate silk collar. Long gloves smoothly covered her robust hands.
For the first time in her life, she was wearing a flower ornament on her head.
When she noticed the footsteps, Alavenya took a peek, wondering who had come. Seeing it was her father who came, she stayed in this place.
Her father suddenly stopped in front of her. He couldn’t contain his shock after seeing her.
"Ehm... Dad..." Alavenya looked left and right awkwardly. Her smile turned wry. She tried to fix her hair slightly while asking embarrassedly, "Dad... How... H-How do I look?"
The Dragon King was dumbfounded. For a few seconds, memories flooded in.
"Dear, this is our child, Alavenya. She just looks like you."
"No, no. She looks like you. I’m sure she will become as beautiful as you."
"Hoho. What are you talking about? She will definitely surpass me."
...
A few years later.
"Daddy!" The little Alavenya ran toward him with her arms spread wide, asking for a hug.
"My dear sweetheart! How are you today?"
...
A few years later.
His world felt crumbling, looking at his wife, whose face was already covered in a white cloth.
"Mommy!"
The most horrifying thing was the fact that he couldn’t accept her death. As a result, Alavenya changed from that day on.
The next thing he realized, Alavenya had started mingling like a boy. She wore shorts and acted like a mercenary.
"Dad! I’m going to surpass Mom!" She looked at him with a serious expression.
It had continued until today, but it all changed after she wore this gown.
The Dragon King couldn’t help but remember the time he married his wife. He felt he was the luckiest person in the world.
The abrupt change between their attires was simply too big that he was speechless for a few hours when he first saw his wife.
That was why seeing Alavenya wear this gown again, he couldn’t help but tear up.
The Dragon King smiled at her. "You look as beautiful as your mother. Back then, I thought I was the happiest man in the world. I believe Nathan will think the same."
"Is that so?" Alavenya ended up covering her mouth with her hair. She felt happy, relieved, but also embarrassed.
She thought this kind of dress never suited her, but she was glad that her father thought otherwise.
"Dad... Thank you for taking care of me all this time."
"What are you saying? I will always take care of you until I can’t anymore. If that lucky bastard makes you cry, I don’t mind battling him for hundreds of rounds."
Alavenya chuckled and looked down. She just couldn’t contain her smile after knowing that she didn’t look weird.
