Chapter 1519: Home
Chapter 1519: Home
“Life Sword, Zeroth.”
The slash was unlike any other. The powerful slash extended itself much farther than the first swing, killing any beings that stood in its path.
The aliens that were about to arrive numbered almost ten thousand. Yet, 70% of them died because of this attack. Those that survived were either at the very back or in the air.
Even the other elite class alien was forced to avoid it, knowing that it wouldn’t be able to stop this attack and survive.
It was a strike that was impossible to unleash by Sullivan normally. As a result, his sword also shattered into pieces, unable to withstand all that power.
The alpha class alien couldn’t escape from that swing. It was as if its entire being was sucked into the sword strike. The swing sliced its body into multiple pieces along with the spikes that were supposed to surround them.
The entire area turned calm due to the death of most aliens.
Even Alavenya, Flora, and Sera noticed what was happening on the other side.
Selena was staring at the alien, realizing that it had died. “Amphitrite, Lilith.”
“It has died.” Lilith nodded, confirming the death of the alpha class alien.
Noelle, on the other hand, was staring at her grandfather. “Grandfather!”
Tears were streaming down her face as she rushed toward him. “Sera! Sera!”
She was desperately calling for Sera so that she could heal her.
“I’m coming!” Sera rushed to Sullivan and started using her ability. However, her energy felt like it was flowing into the body only to be expelled again. “What’s going on? I can’t heal him.”
“What?” Noelle was dumbstruck. “Sera. I know you can do it. You can, right?”
Sera was as desperate as Noelle. As a healer, there was no way she could let anyone die on her watch.
But it was useless. The energy was just flowing into an empty vessel that could never retain anything. “Come on. Come on!”
Raphael was squinting his eyes before placing his hand on Sera’s shoulder.
“!!!” Sera turned her head around with a horrified face. She didn’t really want to believe it, but Raphael could only shake his head, confirming her suspicion.
“It’s impossible to heal him. He used his life to complete that swing. Without any life force, there was no way to save him.” Raphael’s tone was heavy.
As an archangel, he perfectly knew the power that Sullivan wielded. It was a power worthy of respect.
“Sera!” Noelle’s voice became even more desperate.
“Noelle…” Sullivan called her weakly.
“Grandfather… Just wait a moment. I will fix—” Noelle wanted to say something, but the words stuck in her throat when Sullivan placed his hand on top of her head.
“I knew what would happen after using this power.” Sullivan raised his head. His eyes were already unable to see anything. “Selena.”
“Sir…” Selena gulped down. Her body was tense as she was having a hard time stopping her tears. This was her fault as a leader. If she didn’t agree to all this, they would have a different ending.
’”As a leader of the group, you are to lead the group back to the fortress. Take charge of the fortress until my replacement arrives. There is still one more elite class alien on the other side, so I hope that you can fulfill your duty.”
Selena bit her lip.
“I’m counting on you, Selena.”
“Yes, sir!” Selena’s voice cracked.
“Duke…” Flora couldn’t believe what she had just witnessed.
“Your Highness…” Sullivan smiled. “I must thank you for being my grandchild’s best friend. It’s thanks to you she reached this far. Unfortunately, Nathan is not here, but if he’s here, please convey my thanks to him as well.”
Flora clenched her hands so hard that the nails started bleeding her palms.
“I’m sure you don’t need me to go over it in detail. Please take care of my child and family.”
Flora ground her teeth while closing her eyes, unable to hold back her tears.
“Hahaha.” Sullivan suddenly laughed. “I expect that all of you will take this experience to heart and continue to grow even further. After all…
“The alien that has appeared this time is at an unprecedented level. I have never thought that the alpha class alien really exists.
“We are truly unprepared to take them head-on. Your familiars must be more familiar with their power than I am, so please relay that information to everyone.
“It seems that our kingdom, no, our world, will be facing an unprecedented level of danger. A few kingdoms, including our own, might end up getting destroyed.
“Still, I believe that humans are not inferior to aliens or the black cell. Keep struggling no matter how hard it is. Never lose your pride as a human.”
Sullivan smiled as he looked to the front as if he were facing Noelle. “My beloved granddaughter…”
Noelle’s heart froze when he called her name. It was as if the time had arrived… the time for him to leave.
“I’m just glad that you don’t take my path anymore. This is nothing but a lonely path…
“Had I summoned more familiars, we would probably still laugh together from time to time.
“However, don’t let this incident extinguish your fire. I know that you will be stronger and stronger. Reach the height that I can’t even dream of… Become the Sword Goddess. I know you have the talent!”
Sullivan put the last bit of his energy into his smile, showing no shred of doubt that Noelle could reach that stage in the future.
“!!!” Noelle’s pupils were shaking. Her wail gradually turned into a cry.
Selena and Flora could only lower their heads, while Sera slammed her hands into the ground, failing to help him. Alavenya clenched her hands into fists. Just like when she lost her mother, someone close to her or at least her sister, had passed away.
Sullivan was not scared of death nor did he regret his action.
’I have dedicated my life to the sword and created my own legacy as I just desired. And on my final day, I was even able to keep a promise that I had failed to keep twice.
’Haha. I don’t know why but I feel like I’m able to see the woman I miss so much…’
Sullivan felt like he could see the silhouette of his wife even though his eyes were unable to see anymore.
’My wife. I’m sorry that it takes me that long… But I can finally return…’
She was smiling at him, asking softly, ’To where…’
“…home.”
