Chapter 1201: Surrounded
Chapter 1201: Surrounded
Jinwu couldn’t help but squint his eyes, staring into the distance. He saw three silhouettes. He recognized one person, considering Nathan used him before against this person.
Yes, that person was none other than Bloody Fiend. He didn’t see Bell Crusher or Sniper since the former was fighting Mae while the other was too far.
Jinwu hurriedly flew back to the inn, finding Nathan training with Fenrir.
“Summoner. We’ve got a situation.”
Nathan gradually opened his eyes. “Have they found us?”
“Yes. They are coming to this city. I recognized Bloody Fiend, the man whose technique I broke during the fight. The other two were unknown, but their energies were familiar.”
Nathan furrowed his eyebrows. “They found us so fast?”
Mae shook her head in confusion. “I don’t know. However, this is highly suspicious. They must have figured out the current situation, yet they’re trying to chase after us… Only those three…”
“Yeah. If we go all out, we might be able to do it.” Nathan nodded in agreement. “Are the rest of their members hidden from plain sight?”
“Most likely.” Mae nodded before turning to Jinwu.
“It might be possible. However, I haven’t found anything about those two. Either they are hiding far away or they’re entering this city another way. Nevertheless, it doesn’t change the fact that these three are coming into this city. Whether they know about us being here or not is a different question.”
Nathan nodded in agreement. “There was supposed to be nothing that could be used to track us. Although I have to agree if you say I’m moving in a predictable way, but…”
“Out of all those cities, they chose this place. Is it a coincidence or…” Mae crossed her arms. “The biggest confusion is that it’s only been two days since we got away. The timing is neither too fast nor too slow.
“If it’s too fast, we can think that they have other help or maybe a marking ability. However, I have checked that there’s no such thing on your body, Master.
“If it’s too slow, they are not so slow that I can confidently say they have no idea about you here.”
“…” It didn’t look good for Nathan. “An ambush? Using those three as bait? It is feasible. They may want to launch a sneak attack on our ambush.”
“Anyway, I’m going to check on them and report to you about it.” Jinwu returned to his post.
Meanwhile, Nathan stood up, saying, “Looks like we have to speed up from this point on. If we end up getting caught, I will teleport us right away.”
“That will be best.” Mae agreed.
“There are only three cities left before we reach the empire. It’s as if they know you’re going to the empire. Since we have a deal with the emperor, the first place they should suspect should be the imperial palace.
“After all, the emperor can protect you. Yet, for some reason, they are coming here. This is the opposite direction,” added Fenrir. “My instinct is telling me something is wrong.”
Nathan and Mae were stunned.
“What?” Fenrir didn’t understand why they were this shocked.
“Are you Fenrir? Maybe something is wrong with you.” Nathan gasped.
“Oi, are you saying I’m dumb?” Fenrir gritted his teeth. However, his reaction was cut short when he suddenly turned around as if sensing something.
“What’s wrong?” Nathan asked.
Before Fenrir could answer, Jinwu suddenly returned. “We’ve got a situation. I don’t know what’s going on, but two people are suddenly approaching the city. And these two people are moving toward this inn.”
“!!!” Nathan’s body shook. “What did you say?”
“No, it’s not two people. I can sense three.”
“Do you mean Bloody Fiend, Sniper, and Bell Crusher, those three?”
“No. People even more dangerous than them. Most likely, the two summoners are at the crystal fusion stage. As for the last person, I don’t know.” Fenrir shook his head.
“Don’t tell me…” Mae seemed to have realized their current situation.
“What’s wrong? Do you know something? Are they truly coming to this inn?” Nathan asked.
Mae frowned. “Although I don’t want to believe this is true, it seems to be the case. Our opponent is much more troublesome than I imagined.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’m talking about tracking ability or some sort. It’s not a mark that can track your position, but something that can pinpoint your location.”
Fenrir added, “Do you remember, during the tropical island event, the principal sent curses from a different island?”
“Ah!” Nathan gasped. “Do you mean that kind of tracking ability is possible?”
“That’s possible, but I should be able to sense it.” Fenrir frowned. “The biggest problem is that I couldn’t sense it.”
Mae raised one finger. “In that case, that leaves only one possibility. Something similar to a divination.”
“Divination…” Nathan fell silent for a moment. He recalled a superstitious method. “Is it something like… what’s the name again? Pendulum… dowsing?”
“Something like that.” Mae nodded without hesitation. “This is a method that can bypass Fenrir’s instinct, no? It is locating what they want without directly linking it to that person.”
Fenrir nodded. “If that’s the case, I might not feel it.”
“We need to go now.” Nathan clicked his tongue.
“It’s too late. They are already here.” Fenrir looked down. He could sense the people coming inside the inn already. However, they didn’t seem to be able to find him easily.
The fact they didn’t destroy this building meant they were trying to keep it hidden as much as possible.
“Teleport right now, but you will get caught again soon,” warned Mae.
“Even so, we have no choice. It will be dangerous if they find me. But if this continues, they will find the group through me…” Nathan looked down. When he was about to think, he suddenly heard a ringing bell.
*Deng!*
“!!!” Nathan and the others widened their eyes. After the three people entered the inn, the bell rang. The sound carried ena. The problem was that the bell continued to ring.
“This is bad. The bell is disturbing the flow of ena.” Fenrir frowned. “It looks like they’re trying to disturb the ena to prevent you from teleporting.”
“What?!” Nathan’s heart skipped a beat. In just an instant, Nathan didn’t expect his situation would deteriorate to this extent.
