Chapter 1087: Master and Disciple
Chapter 1087: Master and Disciple
Now that they had the ship, Nathan and Evelyn took their leave.
“I’m going back now. I will definitely hunt that alien fast and return to help with your training.”
“…” Nathan’s face turned pale. “Well, do your best.”
“Are you also going back? I can drop you off along the way.”
“No, I’m thinking about meeting my disciple at Frexia Academy.”
“Frexia…” Evelyn muttered, her voice contained longing. She, too, was a student at that academy. Although she had never graduated, there were a lot of memories there.
“Why don’t you come with me? I’m sure the principal would love to see you.”
Evelyn looked down before shaking her head. “No. I will send you there, but I won’t go with you. But if it’s fine with you, can you pass a message to the vice principal, I mean, the current principal?
“Tell him I apologize for disappointing him.”
“!!!” Nathan raised his eyebrows. He realized he was a bit insensitive. In the end, Evelyn had just killed Garam, Leyfon’s junior brother.
Leyfon must have felt saddened by the fact that his junior brother was involved in that banquet.
Both of them must have felt that they had no face to meet each other.
“I understand.” Nathan nodded.
“Thanks.” Evelyn placed her hand on Nathan’s shoulder as a magic circle formed underneath their feet before teleporting them.
The moment they arrived at the academy, Evelyn looked at the building from a distance, feeling a bit nostalgic.
However, she could only turn around and say in a low voice, “I’m leaving.”
“Yeah.” Nathan nodded.
…
Frexia Academy.
“Mhmm. This one is good.” Iris puffed her cheek like a squirrel after taking a huge bite of her food. However, she was sitting alone on the rooftop.
There were many other students walking around.
If one passed them, one could hear a lot of things, especially about Iris.
“Don’t you think that brat is annoying? Just because she has been recognized by that unique summoner, she thinks she owns the world.”
“I know, right? Even Teacher Jason is favoring her too much. This is completely unfair to everyone.”
“She’s just a commoner.”
“No, I heard her family was noble, but it was ruined. Maybe her family deserved it.”
“Hahahaha!”
Iris, on the other hand, simply acted as if she didn’t care. Even though she was alone in the school, she had done her best.
Still, after several months, she definitely felt lonely.
“…” Iris sighed. She wasn’t in the mood to eat, but she still stuffed everything into her mouth and swallowed it.
Then, she slapped her cheeks hard and crisp before muttering, “All right. I’m full. You can’t learn anything if you are hungry.”
“Right?” A familiar voice suddenly echoed from the right.
“!!!” Iris’ heart skipped a beat as she stood up immediately. “W-What?”
Her jaw dropped the moment she recognized the person. “M-Master?!”
Nathan smiled while patting her head. “Yo! Looks like you’ve been doing well in school. You have recognized the hidden condition for the first hunting event. I heard you have done well against your seniors as well.
“First in the ranking. As expected of my student.”
“T-That’s all thanks to you. You have taught me a lot and to be more conscious of my surroundings. Besides, I am a sniper. I shoot aliens from afar. Hunting aliens in that forest was easy for me, so it would have been bad if I couldn’t take first place.
“Besides, the second event was successful thanks to those people. They were the ones lowering the senior’s guard, allowing me to take a shot.”
Nathan’s expression mellowed. Despite her tough front, she definitely felt lonely.
However, there was nothing he could do. If he forced those people to acknowledge her, it would have just backfired, with them thinking that Iris couldn’t do anything other than rely on him.
“I will do my best so as not to disappoint you, Master. There is going to be a mock battle as well.”
“Oh, that PvP event.”
“PvP?”
“I mean, the mock-battle event.” Nathan waved his hand. “So, do you have a teammate in mind?”
“…” Iris paused for a moment, but she soon smiled. “Don’t worry, Master. I have a teammate already.”
It was clear she was lying so as to not make her master worry.
In the end, Iris was several years younger than her peers. No matter how powerful she was, people would get jealous and isolate her. It would have been different if her family still stood tall.
Being a part of a dukedom would just make people flock around her, trying to curry her favor. On the other hand, Nathan’s reputation was different from a dukedom.
Nathan thought for a moment before asking, “What are you doing after this?”
“I am currently attending the Magic Department.”
“Oh.” Nathan nodded in understanding. “Since that’s the case, let’s skip it.”
“Eh?” Iris tilted her head.
Nathan raised one finger. “Instead, why don’t you practice with me? As your master, I should teach you something, right?”
“Ah! Really?!” Iris’ eyes brightened.
“Of course. I am done with my visit to the principal, so I’m free for the rest of the day.” Nathan pointed down. “I’m curious how much my disciple has improved.”
“Yes!” Iris nodded furiously. Because she had no friends, having a little time like this was like a blessing. Besides, she could finally spend some time with her master, whom she rarely met.
Iris excitedly led Nathan to the field that was currently unused. She had changed and brought her weapon.
Iris’ thoughts might be rational, but they were pure. On the other hand, Nathan had a different intention in mind.
Because she was too focused on Nathan and the training, Iris forgot that there were also other people who were using the field. They couldn’t help but turn around, recognizing Nathan.
Nathan’s peers had all known him. Their seniors, the third-year students, obviously recognized him because of his battle against Alavenya.
Meanwhile, the first-year students were oblivious, because they only heard about Nathan from their seniors or relatives, mostly about his achievements in academics and magic weapon creation.
Nathan wanted to put on a show with Iris to dispel all kinds of rumors about her.
