Chapter 80: Chapter 80: A Lord-Class Boss with 1.5 Million HP!
John took a quick look at the situation on the battlefield.
Although Bladeborne and Ophelia had already killed a portion of the Sanctified Assassins, there were still around seventy or eighty left.
And those assassins had clearly realized that killing John would bring the battle to an end much faster.
Almost all of them were now throwing caution to the wind and charging straight toward him.
Bladeborne had noticed the same thing, and his expression grew increasingly grim.
"These cowards who refuse to fight fair..."
He pushed off the ground with both feet and shot into the sky.
Silver-white sword energy surged wildly along his blade, growing brighter and more dazzling with every passing moment.
"They’re getting on my nerves just by looking at them!"
Bladeborne rose high into the air, gripping his sword with both hands and raising it above his head.
[Radiant Judgment]
His longsword came crashing down.
A massive blade of silver-white light erupted from its tip.
After the upgrade, the energy blade was now more than a hundred meters long and several dozen meters wide, almost completely obscuring the scenery above.
It traced a dazzling arc through the sky before slamming heavily into the mountainside.
BOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!
The entire Crystal Mountain was split in two by a single sword strike.
Countless crystal fragments exploded into the air, turning into a dazzling cloud of glittering dust beneath the sunlight.
The mountainside split apart, exposing vast stretches of black soil beneath the shattered crystalline shell. The rich, earthy scent of the dark soil rushed toward them.
The Sanctified Assassins suddenly froze.
With the crystalline shell shattered, the refracted light disappeared. Vast shadows once again spread across the mountainside.
Their ability to merge with light was greatly weakened, and their movements naturally became sluggish.
Bladeborne landed, planted his longsword into the ground, and took a deep breath.
"Quick!"
Arno was the first to react. He shouted at the top of his lungs.
"While we have the chance, get inside the temple!"
Without another word, John recalled the shield units and took the lead, sprinting uphill.
Bladeborne immediately followed, while Ophelia reverted to her human form and hurried after them.
The group raced along the newly split crystal mountainside at full speed.
Behind them, the Sanctified Assassins struggled to readjust within the shadows, but they could no longer catch up.
In less than two minutes, the temple gates appeared directly before them.
The entire temple was carved from transparent crystal. Its enormous pointed-arch entrance stood approximately ten meters tall, with intricate dark patterns engraved across the doors. The patterns were as fine as spider silk, resembling countless overlapping daggers.
On either side of the entrance stood a crystal statue depicting an assassin wielding a blade. Their facial features were indistinct, but their postures were sharp and imposing.
The vaulted roof curved upward toward a pointed apex, where a slender crystal spike stood, pointing directly at the sky.
From a distance, the entire structure resembled a gigantic crystal dagger driven upside down into the ground.
Bladeborne stepped forward, placed both hands against the doors, and pushed with all his strength.
RUMBLE——
The crystal gates slid open.
The interior of the temple was even more dazzling than its exterior.
All four walls were covered in crystal facets, refracting light in countless directions. The entire space was so brightly illuminated that there was practically nowhere for shadows to exist.
At the very center stood an enormous crystal pillar extending from the floor all the way to the vaulted ceiling.
Inside the pillar was a naked young woman.
She appeared to be around eighteen or nineteen years old. Her long, water-blue hair floated gently within the crystal, and her skin was as white as snow.
Her body was curled up, resembling a butterfly sleeping inside amber.
On either side of her eyes were blue markings shaped like wings, extending from her cheekbones toward her temples.
A soft yet icy white light radiated from her body.
The moment Ophelia saw her face, her entire body froze.
Her dark golden, vertical pupils suddenly widened.
Arno also stopped walking. His eyes beneath the white hood were fixed on the girl inside the crystal, and even his breathing seemed to grow lighter.
Bladeborne glanced between them and immediately noticed something.
The girl’s appearance was remarkably similar to Ophelia’s. They looked at least seventy or eighty percent alike!
Bladeborne had no emotional attachment to the girl, so he managed to remain relatively rational.
He immediately grabbed Ophelia, who was about to rush forward, while his other hand seized Arno’s arm.
"Something’s wrong. Don’t fall for it!"
John understood immediately.
He raised his hand, and another group of Undead Sentinels appeared.
They stacked themselves together, shields raised, forming a thick wall of bones and iron in front of the group.
The next instant—
The crystal exploded.
BOOOOM——!
Countless crystal fragments shot in every direction like artillery shells.
Five layers of Undead Sentinels couldn’t withstand the shock wave for even a single second.
Their bone armor shattered, their soul flames went out, and broken bones mixed with scraps of iron scattered across the floor.
John and the others were sent flying by the blast, crashing into the crystal walls of the temple before sliding to the ground.
"Cough..."
Bladeborne was the first to get back on his feet.
He immediately looked toward the center of the hall.
As the crystal fragments settled, the blue-haired girl floated in midair.
Her eyes were still closed, but the holy white light surrounding her body had intensified several times over, wrapping her in a cocoon of brilliant radiance.
The cocoon exploded.
A pair of enormous crystal wings unfolded behind the girl. Every feather was a diamond-shaped crystal, radiating dazzling white light beneath the sunlight.
Her eyes finally opened.
They were completely white, without pupils.
The blue, wing-shaped markings at the corners of her eyes had become almost invisible beneath the intense white radiance.
A system panel suddenly appeared in John’s field of vision.
[Target: Vira, Divine Servant of the God of Holy Light (Sanctified Form)]
[Quality: Lord-Class Boss]
[Level: Lv. 30]
[HP: 1,500,000/1,500,000]
[Attack: 4,200]
[Defense: 3,000]
[Skills: Holy Light Featherblade, Light-Shadow Transposition, Wings of the Judgment Alliance, Heavenly Nail Resonance (Passive)]
[Description: A Primordial Ancient Dragon who was born physically weak but possessed a fiercely stubborn personality. After insisting on learning combat techniques and falling out with her older sister, she left home in a fit of anger and joined the Brotherhood in the Mistshadow Mountains, where she became Arno’s apprentice and studied the art of assassination.]
"Ophelia! Don’t do anything rash——"
John immediately sensed something was wrong when he saw the boss panel.
But before he could finish speaking, a flash of purple light suddenly erupted beside him.
Without Raistlin there to restrain her, Ophelia charged forward directly.
Dark purple Dragonflame surged from behind her, condensing into a pair of burning dragon wings.
Her silver-white hair streamed straight backward in the violent gusts of wind.
[Dragonblade Rampage — True Half-Dragon Form!]
Dark purple Dragonbane Sword Waves burst from her blade.
Five sword waves struck Vira’s crystal wings almost simultaneously.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
-11,247!
-19,836!
-12,418!
-10,629!
-11,753!
Vira was forced backward by the five consecutive strikes, and cracks appeared across her crystal wings.
But Ophelia had clearly held back more than a third of her strength.
Even though every sword wave could have struck a vital point, her wrist had deliberately shifted at the last moment, directing every attack toward the wings instead.
It was obvious that Ophelia was still clinging to a faint hope.
As long as she shattered that crystalline shell, her younger sister would wake up.
She would return to the way she used to be, her eyes red with emotion as she called out to her older sister.
"Vira, it’s me."
Ophelia gritted her teeth, her voice trembling.
"Look at me."
But it was obvious that Vira was no longer the same girl.
The moment she took damage, Vira’s pure white eyes suddenly lit up.
The cracks across her crystal wings healed at a visible speed, and her HP fluctuated accordingly.
+4,327!
+3,685!
John’s pupils contracted.
"It’s Heavenly Nail Resonance! The Heavenly Nail is restoring her HP here!"
But Ophelia seemed not to have heard him.
Her entire attention was fixed on that familiar face.
She continued testing Vira with one sword strike after another, deliberately holding back each time.
The slender dragon-bone sword in her left hand spun once in her palm.
She struck three more times in quick succession.
-5,187!
-5,834!
-5,078!
The damage was visibly decreasing.
