Chapter 67: Chapter 67: A Hundred Six-Star Units Are His Trump Card? Detonate Them All!
The smoke had yet to clear over the scorched battlefield.
A tall, slender figure emerged from the thick clouds of smoke, slowly making his way toward Augustus.
Augustus couldn’t make out the man’s face, but he could feel the bone-chilling aura radiating from him.
He had never met Tyrant before.
But at this moment, no introduction was necessary. He didn’t even need to see the man’s ID.
His instincts were already screaming a warning.
There was no doubt about it.
The man standing before him was Tyrant.
After a brief moment of suffocating silence, Augustus suddenly bit down hard on his tongue. The metallic taste of blood filled his mouth, jolting his dazed mind back to clarity.
"Don’t panic."
"I’m the Heir of the Judgment Alliance. I fought my way to this position among countless others. I’ve seen more battles than these low-level players have had hot meals."
"So what if I’ve lost one Hero? I still have my territory!"
Augustus kept repeating these words to himself. Gradually, the confidence that had been shattered by the lightning began to return.
Watching the approaching figure draw closer, he suddenly raised his hand and shouted at the top of his lungs.
"Fire Elementalists!"
"Attack!"
The instant his words fell—
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The air around him tore open as troop deployment spaces materialized. One humanoid figure made entirely of flames after another emerged from within.
One.
Ten.
A hundred...
Within just a few seconds, an entire army of flames had appeared before Augustus.
[Fire Elementalist (Six-Star · Mid-Tier) · Lv. 15!]
Identical status panels flashed above their heads.
This was Augustus’s true trump card!
Over the past two days, Augustus and his subordinates had practically drained every available resource belonging to the Judgment Alliance across the entire Novice Continent.
They had worked around the clock, hunting monsters, purchasing resources, and plundering whatever they could get their hands on. They had exhausted every available means to assemble this army.
His original plan had been to use ordinary troops and Titan’s rain of arrows to gradually wear down Tyrant’s Dragon Knights and Mage Corps, dragging the battle into a prolonged war of attrition.
Once Tyrant’s trump cards were nearly exhausted, he would unleash his army of Fire Elementalists and finish the battle in one decisive strike.
But that lightning strike had completely destroyed all his plans.
He had finally realized just how badly he had underestimated this man.
The Tyrant standing before him simply refused to play by the rules.
Who knew what else he might pull out of nowhere the very next second?
The only correct choice was to crush him before he had the chance to reveal another trump card!
With that thought, Augustus lifted his head and stared at the figure approaching him.
The man who had been walking forward so calmly finally stopped when he saw the sudden sea of six-star flames.
He didn’t take another step.
"Phew. I knew it. There’s no way someone wouldn’t be intimidated by this!"
"These are six-star units! The strongest units available on the Novice Continent!"
Augustus finally let out the breath he had been holding. A smile returned to his face.
"Take a good look, Tyrant."
He spread his arms wide, proudly displaying his forces, unable to conceal the triumph in his voice.
"One hundred six-star units, all at Lv. 15!"
"Do you have any idea what that means?"
"Just to train them and raise their levels, the Judgment Alliance has practically stripped the entire Novice Continent of its resources over the past two days!"
As he spoke, he shook his head, a hint of condescending pity creeping into his expression.
"To be honest, I originally had a great deal of respect for you."
"There was never any need for things to come to this between us. As for what happened to the Third Division, they were the ones who struck first."
"If you had been willing to sit down and talk, we could have put this matter behind us. There was no reason our two sides couldn’t have worked together."
"But what did you do?"
Augustus’s voice dripped with mockery.
"You have courage, but absolutely no brains! You charged straight into my camp alone, and even dared to kill my Hero right in front of everyone!"
"Well, look where that got us!"
"The misunderstanding is gone, and now there’s no turning back. We’ve made enemies of each other for good!"
He sneered, hatred burning in his eyes.
"Today, you’re going to die here!"
The slender figure stood silently before the sea of flames.
He didn’t say a word.
Augustus frowned slightly. For some reason, a sense of unease suddenly crept into his heart.
The next moment, another figure appeared beside Tyrant without the slightest warning.
It was an old man.
He wore a faded, well-worn mage robe and leaned on a wooden staff that stood even taller than he did. Moving at an unhurried pace, he had made his way over from the other side of the scorched battlefield and now stood beside Tyrant.
Augustus’s pupils contracted.
He instinctively opened the man’s status panel.
There was nothing.
The panel was completely blank.
"A player?"
The thought had barely entered Augustus’s mind before he dismissed it himself.
"No. That’s not right."
This was the Novice Map. Everyone selected for this season was someone who had only just reached adulthood.
How could an old man possibly be here?
Then... an NPC?
"Whatever. Who cares what he is?"
A vicious glint flashed in Augustus’s eyes.
Someone who appeared with ill intentions certainly wasn’t here to make friends.
Whatever this thing was, if it stood beside Tyrant, it deserved to die!
"All troops, heed my command!"
Augustus swung his arm and roared.
"ATTACK!!"
The instant the order was given—
A hundred Fire Elementalists moved simultaneously.
They raised their arms, which were formed from blazing flames. Hundreds of fireballs rapidly condensed in their palms.
"FIRE!"
Just as the fireballs were about to be unleashed—
The old man standing beside Tyrant slowly raised one hand.
His withered lips parted slightly, and he uttered two syllables that no one could quite make out.
"Buzzz—"
In an instant, all the fireballs that had already taken shape in the Fire Elementalists’ palms froze in midair.
Then, without the slightest warning, the Fire Elementalist at the very front began to swell.
Its body turned red, expanded, and twisted violently.
BOOM!
It exploded!
As though someone had flipped a switch.
The second.
The third.
The tenth.
The hundredth...
[Elemental Burst]
Raistlin hadn’t done anything particularly complicated.
He had simply drawn in all the free-floating elemental energy in the surrounding area and detonated it.
And as it happened, the most concentrated source of elemental energy on this battlefield was none other than the hundred Fire Elementalists themselves!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM—!!!
The successive explosions merged into a continuous roar of thunder, shaking the entire lakebed.
Flames surged into the sky.
One tent after another was swept away by the shockwaves. One arrow tower after another snapped and collapsed amid the sea of fire.
The Judgment Alliance’s massive camp, which occupied nearly half the lakebed, was torn apart by the explosion triggered by its own trump card.
Nearly one-third of the entire camp was wiped off the map!
Augustus didn’t even have time to react.
He was the closest person to the sea of flames.
In the very next instant, the devastating shockwave, carrying scorching heat and countless fragments of burning fire, slammed into him and hurled his entire body through the air.
He crashed violently into the support pillar of a ruined tent before tumbling back into the scorched earth.
With great difficulty, Augustus lowered his head.
His right arm and left leg were gone.
"Kh... kh..."
He couldn’t even scream anymore.
The world before his eyes flickered between light and darkness, while a deafening ringing filled his ears.
What?
What the hell...
What had just happened?
Augustus’s pupils slowly lost focus.
His mind sank into a state of absolute emptiness, as though every thought had come to a complete standstill.
Two figures approached him from a distance, gradually drawing closer through his increasingly blurred vision.
A flash of white light.
