Chapter 120: The Predator’s Arrival
Chapter 120: The Predator’s Arrival
When a Mystic Human fuses with a Pranic Beast, they obtain the capability to transform into said Pranic Beast. They will retain every physical characteristic the respective Pranic Beast had.
They would only be unable to use the Pranic Beast’s Natures. However, it didn’t matter to them much, since they could crank psychokinesis through their bodies and drastically raise their combat prowess.
That wasn’t all. Since a Mystic Human could treat their body as a Spirit Weapon, they generally severed their body parts–after assuming a Pranic Beast transformation–and wielded them as specialised Spirit Weapons.
Typically, Mystic Humans developed this ability to aid in the creation of puppets.
Mystic Nature Art–Spirit Puppet Slip!
Spirit Puppets had a Prana capacity of 100 units, but retained most of the physical might of the original. They couldn’t freely transform. However, after the Mystic Human transforms into a Pranic Beast, he could create Puppets of the Pranic Beast form.
This was their greatest advantage.
And at higher levels, a Mystic Human was capable of seamlessly mixing and matching physical characteristics from the two Pranic Beasts they could transform into, thereby attaining complex forms that allowed them to dominate different situations with great versatility.
Adding to this the superior Prana capacity they had–which is a summation of the Prana capacities of their two Pranic Beasts–that was pretty much the highest of their respective Grade, and finally, their resistance to external influence, which could be developed through training over time, the Mystic Human race was pretty much a powerhouse.
If they had one weakness, it was their young history. Even Virala, the Mystic Human race’s founder, and their oldest, was barely over a century old. Everyone else was too young and inexperienced.
A majority of them were merely at the Body Stage. Only a small handful had entered the Life Stage. That was their only weakness.
Had the Mystic Humans possessed time to develop for at least four to five centuries, and ideally, a millennium, they had the possibility to become one of the strongest forces on Sumatra.
They would have reached a point where even Nusantara Continent’s invasion wouldn’t be an issue. Their potential was that high.
Puff!
A Mystic Human coughed out putrid blood, gasping upon seeing his throat had been crushed to become as thin as possible. The neck had become no different to a worm, and worst of all, it showed no signs of reverting to its original appearance.
’Dammit!’ Gasping in shock, the Mystic Human glared at the hundreds of Stitched Humans that were crowding upon him. The influence from a Stitched Human touching his neck was what had caused it to resemble a worm now.
The structure, at the moment, prevented him from swallowing his saliva or even being able to breathe. There were barely a few blood vessels that were still functional, which was the only reason blood was getting supplied to his brain.
And through the blood was Prana, which kept his brain operational. His Prana consumption spiked, for it was being used to regenerate his failing lungs whose airflow had been cut off.
Splurt!
He punctured holes through the chest and used a Spirit Puppet to form new channels for air circulation, barely managing to hold on.
“GRAH!” Even though he was mowing down dozens of Stitched Humans, he was still getting swarmed over time. And one of them managed to touch his leg, influencing the leg’s shape to now resemble a slouched blob.
“Dammit!” The Mystic Human had to stand on one leg and continue fighting. And soon, he was overwhelmed as his other leg got targeted too. Now, on the floor, fear finally punctured through his mind, “G-Get AWAY!”
He created a bunch of Spirit Puppets to protect him, which were all acted upon by the influence the Stitched Humans radiated. In a matter of seconds, the puppets had become new Stitched Humans.
Since they had inferior resistance, they fell victim quickly. “S-Save me!”
“Someone! Anyone!” The Mystic Human pleaded for help, “PLEASE! Save me!”
His face paled upon seeing a Stitched Human jump at him, aiming for his face. ’I’m scared!’
“S-Save…” He almost fainted in horror as more than a dozen Stitched Humans were inbound in the air, simultaneously heading for him. There was a faint blur that followed suit and they had vanished.
’W-Who?’ The Mystic Human gasped in relief upon managing to survive and quickly swerved his head in the direction of the blur, “Councilwoman Yoribu?”
Dozens of hands had protruded out of her back, with each clutching a Stitched Human. The Stitched Humans flailed their limbs, making repeated contact with her figure. And upon each contact, her muscles squirmed in response.
They were constantly squirming, but hadn’t deformed like in the case of the rest. At present, her figure was an amalgamation of squirming tendrils. Hovering right above her head was a tiny aurora, which was steadily dimming in intensity.
And every time it dimmed, the squirming across her body eased up by a fraction. The woman seemed a head shorter than the Stitched Humans swarming her. However, she seemed like a mountain that towered over the pebbles around her.
“Grandfather, give me strength!” She uttered and then, in an act of horror, opened her mouth to a physically impossible level of wideness and chomped upon a Stitched Human.
Crunch! Crunch! Glug!
A streak of blood dripped down her lips as the woman swallowed the Stitched Human’s head. Immediately in response, intense grumbling sounds originated from her stomach, which seemed to have obtained a mind of its own.
It stretched out and squirmed, as if the creature imprisoned within was seeking to break out. It was the, reverberating thunderclap was a slap to the stomach. “Behave!
“You are merely my food!” The aurora hovering above her head intensified and expanded to a few metres in length. And the squirming?
It not only stopped, but the stomach had completely retracted and reverted to a pristine state. At this point, the woman took another large bite out of the Stitched Human, and with four mouthfuls, managed to consume the entirety of the Stitched Human’s body.
Burp!
A putrid stench got released from her mouth in response, but as the seconds passed, the squirming across her body weren’t just abating in intensity, but also seemed to be struggling for life.
And soon, there was nothing.
Pat-pat-pata-pat-pat!
The Stitched Humans held by her hands continued to punch and kick her, trying to mould her body into a grotesquely helpless form that could no longer put up a fight. But now, their actions were no different to a baby’s tantrums against an adult.
Not even ripples formed on her skin from their actions, at which point, the woman announced, “Stitched Humans, was it?”
“I’m now fully resistant to your abilities.” As she announced, the aurora began to rise in altitude and expanded in size, until soon, it was covering the entirety of the sky above Prata City.
Gathering Prana to her throat, she roared, “MY MYSTIC HUMANS!”
“Gather behind me!” At her roar, every Mystic Human assumed their Spirit Eater forms and flickered to the open space behind her, their eyes lit with hope, for they had been desperately waiting for this signal all along.
“Activate your cultivation techniques and gradually build up your resistances.” She said, “In the meantime, I, Yoribu, will deal with the prey before me.”
She took a step forward and generated intense gales, for her form began to balloon in size. Instinctively, every creature in the region shuddered in fright. Every creature that had been moulded to form a Stitched Human spontaneously expressed bouts of fear, akin to that of a prey.
For, their predator had appeared!
