Chapter 935: Comprehending the Thunder Rune [3]
Three hours later...
"Phew! This was exhausting." An amiable looking middle-aged man exhaled and plopped into a chair, a few energies swirling around each of his five fingers of the right hand.
This man was none other than Elder Milo and he had just finished extracting the foreign energies from the Golden Winged Python.
Max looked at the python laying curled up on the ground, now looking a lot more relaxed, and felt his heart become lighter.
"Thank you for the help, Elder." He didn’t want to say he would remember this favor since he had already said the same a few days ago, so he simply thanked him and bowed deeply to show his gratitude.
"Mm." Elder Milo nodded in response and with a thought, took out five wooden bottles inside which he sealed the energies swirling on his fingers and sent them to Max. "Here. I have put a seal on the bottles. They will amplify the energy signatures, so you could easily remember them."
Max received them, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. He had asked Elder Milo to separate the different energies and store them. As for what he was planning on doing with them, it couldn’t be more clearer.
...Those who tried to kill the python needed to pay.
Elder Milo stared at him, then sighed and shook his head, stopping himself from warning Max.
’It’s alright. His thirst for revenge would only make him work harder and become stronger.’ he thought.
He then looked him up and down and thoughtfully asked, "Do you need help with something else? If you do, now’s the chance to ask because I will be leaving on a mission tonight."
Max paused, then his eyes flickered rapidly. After a moment, he proffered him his Identity Badge and requested, "Elder, lend me a 1000 Merit Points."
"Okay." Elder Milo transferred 1000 Merit Points, then Max stored the Python in his Beast Storage Bag and left after bidding him farewell and wishing him a smooth return.
A few moments after he left...
Swoosh!
A figure appeared beside Elder Milo. It was an average looking woman in brown robes, but anyone who looked at her would find it hard to take their eyes off her.
"You think highly of the kid, Brother Milo?" she asked in a pleasant, but curious voice.
The corner of Elder Milo’s lips twitched, "How many times have I told you not to call me that?"
"Hehe, but I like this name. Besides, you shouldn’t hate it. Grand Elder Rowan has bestowed upon you this name with love." the lady chuckled.
Elder Milo helplessly shook his head, then nodded, "Yes, I do think highly of him. He is... extraordinary."
"I don’t know about him, but that baby python is indeed extraordinary. Even I felt a hint of fear and reverence when I looked at him." the lady commented, a solemn look in her eyes.
She then asked, "Do you know which lineage he was from?"
"He should be the long extinct Golden Winged Python of the Sea Swallowing Wyrm." Elder Milo answered.
"What?!" the lady shook, disbelief clear of her face.
"How did he survive the purge?" she muttered under her breath, a hint of fear flashing in her eyes.
Just as Elder Milo was about to console her and say she shouldn’t fear him, her fear turned into excitement, "It’s good. When he grows up, he would be able to elevate us beasts’ standing. We no longer would be suppressed and killed at every turn."
Elder Milo sighed inwardly, feeling guilty.
A long time ago, beasts and humans coexisted peacefully. They had even made a valuable contribution in the battle against devils. Heck, even their founder was said to be a beast.
However, not long after the battle, all races suddenly started to view the beasts as prey, this was more true for the Humans who hunted them on mass scale and caused many beast species to go extinct.
Even the Beast Emperor Hall that was supposed to view humans and beasts as equals slowly started treating the beast as tools to grow stronger.
Now-a-days, there were very few mages in the Beast Emperor Hall who treated their companion beast like friends. When in danger, they no longer hesitated to sacrifice their companion beasts.
"Brother Milo, the human kid has yet to form a companion bond with him. We should take him from him and raise him ourselves. That way he would have higher chances of growing to his full potential." the lady said, urgency, desperation and hope clear in her voice.
Elder Milo patted her head and shook his head, "We can’t do that, Ayrie. Max... he wouldn’t agree to it."
"Then we should just—" a savage look appeared on the lady’s face, but before she could finish, Elder Milo coldly barked, "Calm Down!"
The lady shuddered, then slowly regained control of her emotions, but there was still a reluctant look on her face.
...
Unaware of the exchange between the two, Max arrived in the Inner Hall, went to the resource hall to buy healing medicine to expedite Python’s recovery. Fortunately, the Beast Emperor Hall had medicine especially designed to heal Beasts and they didn’t cost too much either thanks to the policies of the Hall.
After spending 550 Merit Points, he bought two Mid-Grade Five Star Healing Medicine—a large, fist-sized green pill and a bucket of yellow liquid.
Finding an empty place, he took out the python, forced open its mouth and fed it the pill. Then, he applied the liquid to its wounds and stored away the remaining liquid to apply later.
Done with this, he returned the python back to the Beast Storage Pouch and headed toward the Library.
He currently had 520 Merit Points. Therefore, it was time to rent a Comprehension Room and Comprehend the Thunder Talisman.
If he managed to comprehend it in this session, he would be able to create Tier 5, Thunder Elemental Talismans that could easily fetch him enough High Grade Mana Stones and Merit Points to spend on the things he needed to heal his Mana Core, recover his Divine Sense and grow stronger.
He had a feeling that the Grimheart faction would soon come knocking and he wouldn’t be able to handle them unless he had recovered.
’Grimheart...’ he thought, his expression turning overcast.
