Chapter 541: Chapter 360: Victorious in a Hundred Battles

’This statue of Sun Miaoshan is enormous. Could he have been a prominent figure in this Mito World? These statues look ancient. I wonder what era of Player he was from.’

Wang Yi circled the thousand-meter-tall statue a few times, examining it carefully, but unfortunately found no useful information.

After walking forward for a little while longer, Wang Yi discovered a dilapidated grand hall. Inside, dust had piled up, and many statues were standing there as well. These statues were cast from gold. And at the very back, in the place of honor, stood a golden statue of Sun Miaoshan.

The statue had a plaque with three large words on it. Wang Yi squinted to make them out; they seemed to be "Master of Conversion."

’Sun Miaoshan was the Master of Conversion? What kind of religion is the Religion of Conversion?’

Curiosity stirred in Wang Yi’s heart. He could now be certain that Sun Miaoshan had once been active in this Mito World. Before this world was abandoned, his status and position must have been quite high.

There was nothing else in the grand hall. It was silent and lifeless. Wang Yi continued his exploration and found an inscription behind the "Master of Conversion."

"People are born unequal; I brought equality, and so became a Buddha. People are born equal; I brought inequality, and so established the Dao. Only after achieving Buddhahood and establishing the Dao did I learn: faith in gods and the incense of worship are poison!"

Wang Yi pondered the inscription. He felt as though he was on the verge of understanding, yet at the same time, he understood nothing. In the end, it felt like a fruitless endeavor.

There was nothing else in the grand hall, and Wang Yi found nothing more. He left and, a moment later, arrived before a cliff face.

There was an inscription on the cliff face: "For every foot the Dao rises, the devil rises ten."

The inscriber was Sun Miaoshan. He had left his signature and a smaller inscription: "Demons are born from the heart; Buddhist law cannot subdue them. Demons walk the earth; the Daoist arts cannot rival them! Buddhist law is not boundless, the Dao is not Tongtian. Better to cast aside one’s self and become a demon!"

’What does this mean? Buddha, demon, Dao... could Sun Miaoshan have actually been some kind of religious figure?’

Wang Yi had too little information to deduce anything. He could only make a mental note and continue exploring.

About another hour passed. Wang Yi arrived in a valley. Not a single blade of grass grew here; it was completely desolate. A faint, green mist permeated the air.

’According to the system prompt, I’m not far from the spatial rift. It should be in the middle of this valley.’

Wang Yi surveyed his surroundings. The ground was shattered, littered with scattered weapons and armor. The entire valley looked like it had been carved out by a battle, and he could still see signs of artificial destruction.

In the center of the valley, the mist was thick, obscuring whatever lay within.

’This must be an ancient battlefield. The mist is a bit strange... It couldn’t be poisonous, could it?’

After a moment’s thought, Wang Yi took out the Four Symbols Gourd and tossed it into the air. With a single thought, the gourd swelled to the size of a house. Its mouth opened, generating a powerful suction that pulled the valley’s mist toward it, condensing it into streams that flew rapidly inside.

Wang Yi had possessed the Four Symbols Gourd for a long time but rarely used it. However, he had stored plenty of useful things inside, such as a poisonous wind capable of killing a Celestial God. The mist here was a ghastly green color; one glance was enough to know it was no good. Wang Yi decided he might as well collect it all. He could use it as a weapon later.

The Four Symbols Gourd absorbed the mist with incredible speed. In less than three minutes, the valley was swept completely clean. Without the obscuring fog, Wang Yi could clearly see the scene within the valley.

The spatial rift was indeed there. It looked like a three-dimensional spiderweb, ghastly green in color, or perhaps a strange, spherical plant. It already covered an area with a radius of nearly one li and was still growing slowly.

Surrounding it were four strange, black statues. They had the appearance of a Buddha, sitting on lotus thrones and holding a Demon-Subduing Pestle Dharma Artifact, but they also had wings on their backs.

’Huh? What kind of statues are these? Winged Buddhas!’

Wang Yi looked over curiously. His Insight Divine Techniques activated, informing him that the four statues were not inanimate objects but strange, living creatures called [Mind Golems]. They seemed to exist to guard the spatial rift. Their level was as high as 200, but three of them were in a deep slumber, with only one awake.

The awake Mind Golem spotted him and let out a roar, as if warning Wang Yi not to approach.

’As expected, this reward mission wouldn’t be so simple. It looks like I’ll have to take out these Golems first before I can happily complete the mission and repair this spatial rift.’

Wang Yi, however, actually felt relieved. They were just four level-200 Golems, entities he could destroy with a flip of his hand. This was much easier than running errands or solving puzzles.

The next moment, Wang Yi held nothing back. With a wave of his sleeve, he sent a Great Five Elements Divine Seal smashing toward the awake Mind Golem.

This time, the Five-Colored Mountain condensed by the Great Five Elements Divine Seal was not large, only three zhang high, but it seemed even heavier. The Six-Character Mantra was inscribed upon it, and it blazed with Samadhi True Fire. With a deafening RUMBLE, it descended, directly smashing the Mind Golem to smithereens.

The Mind Golem had tried to resist. It attempted to use the Demon-Subduing Pestle in its hand to block the Five-Colored Mountain, but this was like a mantis trying to stop a chariot; it didn’t affect the mountain in the slightest.

The moment this Mind Golem died, the Earth quaked. The other three Golems were instantly alerted. They flapped their wings, took to the air, and fixed their gazes on Wang Yi, roaring.

The roars were sharp and ear-piercing, making Wang Yi uncomfortable. He barked, "Get lost!" Eight swords materialized behind him, and their light instantly formed a river that engulfed the three Golems, beginning a merciless slaughter.
