Chapter 1221: So Many Dangers

When Green came back to the Excursion Lobby, Team Ankylosaurus and Team Wooly Sheep looked at him with anticipation.

"The problem has been dealt with," Green transmitted. "All of my Avatars are still alive. You can come back to our mine."

Sebastian just smiled, while Abyssal Depths looked at Kyle with furrowed brows. "What happened to the Minor Immortal?"

"He's dead," Kyle answered.

A small glimmer appeared in Spring of Joy's eyes. Kyle couldn't have possibly survived this encounter by himself, which meant that he had some sort of backer.

She remembered that Kyle had once talked to the Protector. Had the Protector sent people to protect him?

"You're full of surprises," Spring of Joy transmitted with a smile. "Working with you seems to come with some hidden benefits."

"I have some things and people to rely on, but don't we all?" Kyle asked with a grin.

The Leader of Team Wooly Sheep looked with relief and suspicion at Kyle. "What about Extended Family? Will they keep making trouble?"

"They might think about making trouble, but I don't think they will actually go through with it," Kyle answered.

"Has the plan changed?" the Leader asked.

"No, we'll keep excavating for a thousand years. We still need resources," Kyle answered.

"Then, we'll go back to the mine," the Leader answered.

"How did it go?" Sebastian transmitted to Kyle. "Did he even have a fighting chance?"

"I don't know if anyone can listen in on our voice transmissions," Kyle transmitted back. "I can't tell you too much, but I can tell you that something very unexpected had happened. If I didn't have certain things to rely on, I wouldn't be here right now."

Sebastian kept his reaction subdued, but he knew what Kyle meant. Kyle had been very close to death, but Sebastian didn't know why he had been close to death.

"It was that bad?" Sebastian asked.

"It was, indeed, that bad," Kyle answered. "If I hadn't called for help, and if I hadn't received that help at the perfect moment, I wouldn't be talking to you right now. It was really, really bad."

Sebastian's insides shook. He had believed that Kyle wouldn't be in any danger. After all, he had even managed to win against Fox as a Legendary Ascendant.

He wanted to know what had happened, but he knew that Kyle wouldn't tell him inside the Excursion Lobby.

"Glad you managed to survive," he transmitted.

"I'm also glad," Kyle answered.

After some minutes, the teams met up with Red and Blue again. Kyle recreated all of the Formation Arrays, and when they were done, Red approached Sebastian.

Sebastian felt Kyle requesting access to his Soul Space. Since Sebastian trusted him, he granted him access.

In the next moment, a sheet of paper appeared inside Sebastian, detailing the events that had transpired. While there was a small chance that someone could overhear their voice transmissions, this kind of communication couldn't be overheard. After all, the sheet of paper directly went from one Soul Space into another.

When Sebastian read through the events, he couldn't keep his eyes from widening. The others noticed Sebastian's reaction, but they didn't pry. By now, it was clear that Sebastian and Kyle were good friends. It was only natural that he would share more details with him.

Sebastian immediately destroyed the sheet of paper inside his Soul Space and looked at Kyle. "I see..." he transmitted.

Earlier, Sebastian had been shocked about the fact that Kyle had almost died. Now, he was shocked about the fact that Kyle was still alive.

"Should we report it?" Sebastian asked via voice transmission.

"Not yet," Kyle answered. "Extended Family is already on my ass. I want to use this bit of information to keep them away."

"It might work, but it might also accomplish the opposite," Sebastian answered. "You know something that could be dangerous to them. They might try even harder to shut you up."

"They wouldn't dare," Kyle transmitted. "I've already made preparations."

Sebastian just raised an eyebrow.

"If you say so," he transmitted.

When the two of them were done talking, the two teams resumed their excavations. They dug down for an entire day and reached the dangerous areas again. The last time they reached this depth, the Minor Immortal had interrupted them.

This time, they weren't interrupted.

"We may encounter Major Elemental Storms at this depth," Spring of Joy explained. "In 90% of cases, they're not directly dangerous to us. The danger comes from the possibility of a cave-in. As you can already sense, the pressure is significant. If we get buried under rubble, it wouldn't be any different from fighting another Immortal. The pressure would destabilize our physical forms, which is the same as getting injured. If your Infused Law is powerful enough, you can out-regenerate the damage and dig out. If not, it will be difficult to survive."

The others nodded. They knew the dangers, but they also knew that the Immortal Dimension rewarded risks. Danger was almost always accompanied by riches.

For example, finding a Major Elemental Storm came with a lot of danger, but they could also be transformed into Vortexes.

"Also, you must remember that an intense storm of Major Elements will manifest reality," Spring of Joy added. "The gravity in this place is already intense. If our space and time abilities are suppressed by a Major Elemental Storm, we will lose our ability to fly. If that happens, we have to cling to the walls until our Formation Array Masters deal with the storm."

Spring of Joy talked about more dangers. While some of them seemed obvious, others surprised even Kyle.

'Shit, why didn't I see that?!' Kyle thought.

Just now, Spring of Joy had talked about the dangers of immense gravity. The deeper they dug, the stronger the gravity became. At some point, the gravity would become so strong that most of the members wouldn't have the power to resist it anymore by simply flying. If they reached such a point, they would need to use their body to climb up the walls.

At least, that was what Kyle had thought.

At a certain level of gravity, its pull would become so powerful that even a small difference in Energy Density could have great effects. While the surrounding stones were hard and dense, they weren't as dense as an Avatar. If the solid walls or ground came into contact with an Avatar...

It would be like a stone falling into water.

Gravity would pull with so much force on the Avatar that it would be pulled through the stone like it were water. If an Immortal landed on the bottom of the hole, they would sink through the bottom. The gravity would become even more intense, which would pull the Immortal even deeper, and so on.

They weren't at a level of depth where this danger became relevant, but it was something to keep in mind. Countless Immortals had died in such excavations because they had thought that they could just climb out.

Yet, that wasn't even everything.

Spring of Joy talked about even more dangers, and when she was finally done, Kyle felt a mix of gratitude and anxiety.

'I'm so fucking glad that we have a Guide with us.'

Spring of Joy's words had shown Kyle how important it was for an Excursion Team to have a Guide.

The author's patreon. If he gets more than 1000€ per month, he will increase the number of words in the chapter.
