Chapter 1204: Law Well Sizes

'I don't remember that!' Kyle thought. 'The Major Elements weren't even a danger to Advanced Spirit Lords! How can they suddenly kill a Major Ascendant?'

"You've never seen a Natural Law Well for the Major Elements?" Abyssal Depths asked.

"I did, but they were not nearly that powerful," Kyle answered, trying to gauge how much information he should share. "They were only a danger to Spirit Lords."

"How many have you seen?" Abyssal Depths asked.

"Not that many," Kyle answered.

"Then, you've probably been lucky," she replied. "Big Law Wells can attract an immense amount of Energy. If you've only seen small ones, your experiences with them would make sense. Big Natural Law Wells can become exceptionally dangerous if you approach their center. Have you heard of the Morning Star?"

"Nope," Kyle answered.

"The Morning Star is the biggest Star in the Wargod's Peak in the Main Dimension. It's almost as big as a Primary World. The power near its center is so great that even weak Immortals could die."

"That's crazy," Kyle answered.

'Are all of the Law Wells in Primary Worlds small ones, then? I mean, it would make sense. The bigger the Law Well, the more Energy its center must have.'

"Is there a value difference between big and small Law Wells?" Kyle asked.

"Naturally," Abyssal Depths answered. "The bigger the Law Well, the more it's worth for several reasons. If it has more Energy, you can allow more people to freely consume the Energy to comprehend the Law. Additionally, if anyone can survive going towards its center, they can view the Laws with much more clarity. Huge Natural Law Wells are even more valuable than the best Artificial Law Wells."

"They're that valuable?" Kyle asked. "But a Natural Law Well doesn't have all of these displays that Complex Artificial Law Wells have."

"Yes, they're that valuable," Abyssal Depths answered. "The reason they're that valuable is that you can sell access to completely new customers. For example, an Immortal can comprehend Major Fire near the center of the Morning Star over ten times faster. Naturally, if the Immortal has a Fire Affinity, they already know the Law of Major Fire. However, if they don't have an Affinity for it, they can still comprehend it almost as quickly as someone who has an Affinity, assuming the other person goes to a regular Law Well."

"Powerful Law Wells attract powerful people who don't share an Affinity with the Law Well. A gigantic Law Well for Immortal Fire can attract Zenith Immortals."

'I can see why those would be valuable,' Kyle thought.

"Are there categories for Law Wells?" Kyle asked.

"There are five size categories," Abyssal Depths explained. "Tiny, small, regular, big, and large. Most of the Law Wells are of regular size. A Law Well for Major Fire with a regular size can be a danger to Two-Infused Ascendants. Several people can absorb its Energy without interfering with the natural cycle. Regular Law Wells are also the least valuable."

"Small Law Wells are a bit weaker, while big Law Wells are a bit stronger. They're both worth more than regular Law Wells. Small ones are worth more because they're much safer for weaker people. Big ones are worth more because they can support even more people."

"Tiny Law Wells are about as valuable as small and big Law Wells. They can't support as many people, but they can allow even weaker people to comprehend the Law. As long as they're careful, even New Ascendants can comprehend the Law of Immortal Fire if they're using a tiny Law Well."

"Large Law Wells are the most valuable for the reasons I've mentioned earlier."

"In summary, tiny Law Wells are uniquely useful to weaker Seekers, while large Law Wells are uniquely useful to stronger Seekers. The three categories in the middle are a mix with different weights."

'Interesting,' Kyle thought. 'That means that Ayuvar only had tiny Law Wells. That makes it much easier for weak people to comprehend Laws, which also means that there's a higher chance that they might ascend.'

"I didn't know about that," Kyle answered. "I think I've not seen many regular or big Law Wells, and I don't think I've ever seen a large one. I've seen a ton of Artificial Law Wells, though."

"That's unusual," Abyssal Depths answered, "but I won't pry. We all have our secrets."

"Yeah, sorry," Kyle answered with an awkward chuckle. "I know we're supposed to share information, but there are a couple of things that I can't share. These things concern my survival."

"Can these things be a danger to me?" Abyssal Depths asked.

Kyle took a deep breath. "Indirectly," he answered. "You've seen how the Protector approached me. If someone learns of some of my secrets, they might use the people around me to get me to do something."

"And how could these secrets get exposed?" Abyssal Depths inquired. "I just want to avoid these situations. I'm already committed to this team, and I want it to succeed."

"Let's just say, the fewer Lords and Demigods I meet, the better," Kyle answered. "Additionally, I can't expose my full power. If I have to, I can't allow anyone whom I don't fully trust to survive."

Abyssal Depths slowly blinked once. "I will try to avoid causing such a situation."

She heard the subtle warning in Kyle's message. If Kyle fully trusted her, he would have told her about his secrets already. So, if Kyle ever needed to show his full power...

The two of them remained silent for a while. Kyle had been honest with Abyssal Depths, but his honesty had also caused changes in their relationship. Kyle had shared more about himself, making them closer, but the thing he had shared also widened the distance between them.

"A team is approaching," Sebastian suddenly told them. "I think they've noticed me."

Sebastian sent the information about the approaching team to Kyle and Abyssal Depths.

Name: Team Mud Digger.

Power: Adept Immortal.

Affiliation: Wargod's Peak (Affiliate).

The team consisted of two Adept Immortals and three Beginner Immortals.

At first glance, one would say that this team should be considered a Beginner Immortal Team. After all, they had more Beginner Immortals than Adept Immortals.

However, dividing power like that wouldn't accurately reflect the power of a team. An Immortal's power scaled with the power of two. The obvious categorization of a team's power would only work if an Immortal scaled linearly in power.

One Adept Immortal had twice the amount of Energy as a Beginner Immortal, but on average, an Adept Immortal could fight three Beginner Immortals.

A team's power was judged on the average power of the team but with a skewed rounding scale. The power would not round up in the middle but after 26%. As an example, Team Mud Digger had three Beginner Immortals and two Adept Immortals. Beginner Immortals had an Immortal Energy Density of two, while Adept Immortals had one of four. Their average power was 2.8. With a power of 2,52, a team already counted as an Adept Immortal Team.

The easiest way to remember this rule was to remember that five-man and four-man teams could have one person with a higher level. A team consisting of four Beginner Immortals and one Adept Immortal would still count as a Beginner Immortal Team since they would have a power of 2.4. A team consisting of three Beginner Immortals and one Adept Immortal would have a power of 2.5.

Team Mud Digger was an Adept Immortal Team, but they were one of the weakest ones. Meanwhile, Team Ankylosaurus was a Beginner Immortal Team, but they were one of the strongest ones.

In the Excursion Lobby, the two teams looked at each other.

Would they enter battle?
