Chapter 747: Chapter 461: Night Crow Harbor (1)

CRACK!

The black-robed man’s words were cut short.

The five fingers of the white lace glove wrapped around his neck tightened abruptly, their sharp tips piercing his skin and digging deep into his flesh.

The sickening crunch of shattering bone ripped through the damp air of the sewer.

Beneath his hood, the black-robed man’s fanatical, stubble-covered face—weathered and world-weary—froze.

His bloodshot eyes bulged.

His pupils, forever fixed and dilated, reflected one last, desolate image.

It was the young woman’s cold face and her strange, reptilian slit pupils.

THUD!

She nonchalantly tossed the body of the black-robed man, his neck now snapped, to one side.

Once she was done,

the slit pupils in the young woman’s eyes faded away, reverting to their original turquoise color.

The powerful aura emanating from her body also rapidly dissipated.

Her body swayed.

If she hadn’t braced herself against a nearby stone-walled pipe, she might have fallen to the ground.p>She paused for a moment.

She seemed to finally be recovering.

However, what little color remained on her fair face drained away, leaving it even more ghastly pale.

‘I’m really not used to this frail Mortal Body,’

she muttered to herself.

At that moment,

her gaze froze.

A mission notification from the Reincarnation Bookstore materialized before her.

After she finished reading the mission details,

her expression flickered.

‘Hunt a Main God, gaze directly upon the source of the Extraordinary… Do I have to cultivate this world’s Extraordinary System?’

The young woman was Su Ta.

She watched as the message from the Reincarnation Bookstore faded away.

She frowned.

Clearly, the message from the Reincarnation Bookstore was direct.

This world rejected all other forms of power.

To become Extraordinary, one could only follow this world’s Extraordinary Path.

This was tantamount to starting her cultivation all over again.

However, as a True God, she was confident she could handle it.

Even starting from scratch, she wouldn’t be weaker than anyone else.

Her only real concern was the other Managers.

At this thought,

her gaze swept across the entire sewer.

When she had first arrived in this body, she had woken to flickering candlelight and mottled stone walls.

She had opened her eyes to find herself bound and about to be sacrificed by a group of Cultists.

The Native whose body she had possessed was not only an ordinary person,

but also a pampered, rich young lady who had never lifted a finger in her life.

If she hadn’t used a special technique to forcibly and temporarily awaken this body’s potential, she would have died at their hands.

The thought of that outcome

made her expression darken further.

As an expert of the True God Level, she had nearly been killed by a group of creatures no better than ants. It was an absolute disgrace. How could she not be enraged?

In the past, a single Curse from her would have been enough to cause them and all their blood relatives to drop dead.

Unfortunately, in her current state, that was clearly impossible.

Although she had killed them,

it had come at a great cost.

As this thought crossed her mind,

she took in the scent of rust and sulfur that filled the air.

She lifted her hand. Her arm was slender, so much so that the faint blue of her veins was visible beneath the skin.

However,

by the light of a nearby flickering torch,

one could see, upon closer inspection,

that her once-firm skin was gradually growing slack, and dark spots were even beginning to appear.

This was the result of the body’s Lifespan being drastically consumed.

In that brief struggle just now,

this body had lost at least fifty years of its Lifespan.

Based on the average life expectancy of this era,

she probably had less than a year or two left to live.

But for Su Ta, this was not an unsolvable problem.

As long as she became Extraordinary before then, she could resolve the issue and replenish the Lifespan this body had lost.

Fortunately,

killing these people had not been for nothing.

It seemed that some of the people before her had knowledge concerning this world’s Extraordinary Power.

With this in mind,

she bent down and began to search the bodies.

It wasn’t long before she found a parchment Scroll on the body of the black-robed man she had killed—the one who had been their leader.

Upon opening it,

she saw densely packed strings of strange, tadpole-like script.

In the center was a pentagram, surrounded by three concentric ritual circles.

Each part of the circles was marked with specific annotations.

The only problem was that the script was unlike any language the original owner of this body knew.

She couldn’t understand a single word.

Just then, she heard the sound of footsteps approaching from the sewer entrance in the distance.

Although she was currently in a mere Mortal Body,

her perception of her surroundings was far beyond that of an ordinary person.

She noticed them at once.

She quickly tucked the parchment into her undergarments,

then moved to a nearby corpse and smeared some of its blood on herself.

Finally, she lay down to one side, feigning unconsciousness.

A short while later,

several officers in dark blue uniforms entered the gloomy sewer. The metallic gleam of flintlock pistols at their waists flickered in the torchlight.

“By the Seven Gods…”

As they drew closer,

the lead officer stopped dead in his tracks, his pupils constricting.

Before them lay a bloody slaughterhouse. Bodies were strewn everywhere, and fresh blood snaked through the damp cracks in the stone floor, forming small streams.

But it wasn’t the death itself that shocked them, but the identities of the deceased.

“These are all bastards from the Tide Church…”

a young officer standing to the side said, his expression odd.

They had been tracking this group of Cultists for half a month, never expecting it to end like this.

Was this the result of infighting? Or perhaps a requirement of some ritual?

“Wait!”

Just then, the only female officer on the team suddenly knelt, the torchlight illuminating a corner.

There, lying silently to one side, was a young woman, her skin as pale as porcelain.
