Chapter 642: Chapter 459: Initiating the IPO Plan, a Valuation of Up to 60 Billion US Dollars! Chen Yansen: I’m Kind-hearted
Three hours later, having devoured two full meals, Chen Yansen was lying in the bathtub, contentedly resting with his eyes closed.
Outside the door, Ye Qiuping, who had just made two dinners in a row, rubbed her aching thighs as she busied herself with clearing the dining table.
‘Damn you, Chen Yansen!’
She’d asked him to go slower, but he insisted on going faster. She’d asked him to be gentler, but he insisted on going deeper.
Ye Qiuping complained silently to herself as she worked.
She didn’t dare mutter under her breath, terrified Chen Yansen might hear her.
Hearing the soft rustling from outside, a look of satisfaction and relief spread across Chen Yansen’s face.
The next morning, as dawn broke, the August sun spilled onto the floor, leaving behind a dappled play of light and shadow.
Ye Qiuping stood before Chen Yansen, carefully buttoning his shirt. Through the opening, she could clearly see President Chen’s powerful upper body, chiseled and well-defined.
She subconsciously swallowed hard, then glanced up guiltily at Chen Yansen, only to meet his amused, teasing gaze.
“I’ve packed your suitcase for the trip. It’s in the walk-in closet on the third floor,” Ye Qiuping reminded him softly.
Chen Yansen nodded.
Ye Qiuping let out a soft sigh.
Ever since she took charge of the Starshine Card project, she hadn’t been able to accompany Chen Yansen on his business trips.
But then again, ‘there are always trade-offs,’ she thought. ‘At least my position and salary have both gone up.’
Ye Qiuping was more career-driven than Song Yuncheng. She was fond of Chen Yansen, but she was also more level-headed.
Under her management, sales of the Starshine Card were soaring. Both activation and retention rates had improved, and the market volume was approaching fifty million units. This was also the fundamental reason behind the rapid rise of Douyin and Kuai Shou.
Three minutes later, Chen Yansen got into the back of the car.
Without a word, Huang Boxiang started the eight-million-plus-yuan Rolls-Royce and began driving toward Zhuxianzhuang Science and Technology Park.
Chen Yansen turned to look out the window as the streetscape flashed past.
“♫ I come from the mountains, with an orchid in hand… ♫”
A street sprinkler truck passed by, wetting the scorching pavement. A fine mist of water droplets splashed up and fell, creating fleeting, tiny rainbows in the sunlight.
Cloud Speed Couriers and Kuai Pao Deliveryman zipped about on the latest long-range electric vehicles, busy delivering packages and meals to customers.
Occasionally, you could also see dedicated riders in orange T-shirts with “Kuai Pao Maicai” printed on the back, speeding past in the adjacent bike lane.
As Kuai Pao’s home base, Huian saw the company’s Group Buy, delivery, and grocery services extend even to the county level, where they commanded over ninety percent of the market.
Qian Du Delivery, Qian Du Group Buy, and DiDi Dache couldn’t even scrape together a ten-percent market share. Local users just weren’t buying it.
If there was a good deal, they were on it. If the discounts disappeared, they uninstalled the app.
For most of the people in Huian, Kuai Pao was their one true love.
Twenty minutes later, the car pulled slowly into the Science and Technology Park.
Chen Yansen got out of the car and headed straight for Building Nine. On his way, he passed the ground-floor coolers and grabbed a mango yogurt drink.
“Morning, Boss!” Tian Tian greeted him enthusiastically with a bright smile.
Chen Yansen gave a slight nod, took the elevator to his top-floor office, and had just sat down when he received a call from Wang Shixiang.
“Boss, Chris Anderson, the founder of 3D Robotics, called. He’d like to come for a visit,” Wang Shixiang reported.
“Turn him down.” Chen Yansen knew exactly why Chris Anderson was calling. Since there was no way he would agree to the man’s request, he saw no reason to waste his own precious time.
“He’s already in Xucheng,” Wang Shixiang added.
“I’m not seeing him,” Chen Yansen replied without a moment’s hesitation.
“Understood, Boss.” Wang Shixiang knew what Chen Yansen meant.
A short while later, Chris Anderson received Wang Shixiang’s reply.
As the Director of the Brand Department, his phrasing was diplomatic and polite, but the core message was unchanged: Deep Blue Technology had insufficient production capacity to meet 3D Robotics’ procurement demands.
As for Chen Yansen?
The boss is busy and doesn’t have time to see you.
Chris Anderson’s expression turned grim. He hadn’t expected that after traveling all the way to Xucheng, he wouldn’t even be able to get a meeting with Chen Yansen.
He was furious, but there was nothing he could do about it.
Although 3D Robotics had some renown in the Lighthouse Country’s drone industry, the dismal sales of its Iris model meant the company was valued at just over 300 million US dollars.
Considering Chen Yansen’s net worth and influence, it was understandable that he wouldn’t see him.
So, in the face of Chen Yansen’s merciless rejection, not only was Chris Anderson not particularly angry, he even found himself making excuses for President Chen before dejectedly buying a ticket home.
When a person is powerful enough, even if they slap you across the face, your first reaction won’t be anger. Instead, it will be fear, or a desperate self-reflection on what you might have done wrong.
At ten in the morning, Chen Yansen walked out of his office and pushed open the frosted-glass door of a conference room.
“Boss!”
Huang Zheng, Zhang Yifeng, Zhang Wenbo, Xiang Pengfei, Cai Qiming, Hu Yun, Song Yuncheng, and the others all greeted him in unison.
“Let’s begin. Same rules as always: keep it brief and to the point.”
Chen Yansen said with a wave of his hand, directing his words to Huang Zheng.
“First, let’s look at the platform’s core operating metrics for July,” Huang Zheng said, nodding. He then turned to Hu Yun.
Hu Yun acknowledged with a sound. He had been the project team’s data analyst since the FoxTao days, and on the strength of his past performance, he was now the Director of the Data Center at Pinbei.
He was only twenty-three and had graduated just a year ago, yet he somehow already had three years of work experience.
Of course, at Pinbei, there were plenty of people with even more unbelievable résumés.
Take Meng Xibo and Zhu Xiaopeng, for example. They had three years of work experience before their senior year of college had even begun.
