Stripping For My Devil Ex Husband

Chapter 236 The Devil's Woman Surrender

  • Next Chapter

The library fell into a petrified silence as Julian’s words settled over the hearth.

Ana didn’t ask if Vivian had planned it. She had known Vivian was the viper since the estate memorial months ago… she had slapped the confession straight out of Vivian’s mouth in that empty corridor.

The missing piece that struck Ana like a lead weight was the sheer horror Damian had shouldered alone in the dark… Valerie bleeding out in his arms, the shattered glass, the desperate private surgeons in the basement, and his terrifying pride that refused to let his wife see the Sterling family rotting from the inside.

He hadn’t been hiding another woman. He had been drowning in his own sister’s blood.

Before Ana could draw another breath, the sharp, persistent vibration of Clara’s phone against the side table shattered the stillness.

Then Julian’s encrypted tablet chimed on the desk. A second later, the muted television screen above the bookshelf flashed breaking red banners across the Bloomberg and Page Six tickers.

Clara reached for the remote, unmuting the feed with trembling fingers.

”…the unprecedented audio leak from the Metropolitan Museum gala continues to send shockwaves through Wall Street and high society tonight. Sources confirm Sterling Global shares dropped four points in after-hours trading following what appears to be a total collapse of Damian Sterling’s marriage.”

Julian stood up, crossing to the desk and pulling up the live feeds, his jaw locked in iron. “It’s everywhere. It hit the networks three minutes ago. Someone had a camera phone rolling backstage before the velvet curtain fully parted.”

Ana’s hazel eyes lifted slowly to the screen.

The video was playing on an infinite loop in high definition.

There, under the harsh amber stage rigging, was Vivian Stark in her pristine pearl-white gown, her hands framing Damian’s rigid face, pressing her crimson lips firmly against his mouth. Damian was paralyzed… shaken to his core by the broadcasted revelation of Pennsylvania… but to the outside world, detached from the violence and the broken mic pack, it looked like a breathless romance.

It looked like a devoted, tragic woman offering sanctuary to a broken titan.

Below the footage, the public discourse was a feeding frenzy. Millions of views. Hundreds of thousands of comments flooding every major platform…

”Vivian was right all along. Anastasia Vance is poisonous.”

“She left him over a pathetic misunderstanding, destroyed his family, and hid his baby in Zurich?!”

“Look at how Vivian stayed by his side through everything. Damian deserves a real partner, not an insecure child.”

“Damian needs to dump Anastasia tonight. Bring Vivian Stark back to the Sterling board.”

“The kiss says it all. End the marriage. Vivian belongs with Damian.”

The vultures had completely rewritten history in less than an hour. The narrative was clean, lethal, and orchestrated with surgical precision… Vivian was the devoted savior, Damian was the tragic patriarch, and Anastasia was the villain of Manhattan.

Clara snapped the screen black with a sharp click of the remote, her eyes flashing with anger. “Don’t read it, Ana. It’s Dante Sullivan’s media bots. He’s funding the algorithmic push to crush the Sterling stock before the morning bell.”

Ana didn’t look at Clara.

She sat completely motionless on the leather sofa. The tears that had welled in her eyes when Julian spoke of Valerie’s blood were entirely gone, burned away by a cold, razor-sharp clarity.

She remembered the memorial corridor. She remembered Vivian collapsing onto her knees the moment Victoria and Valerie turned the corner, crying fake tears and playing the helpless victim after confessing to ruining their lives.

And now, Vivian was doing the exact same thing on an international stage… twisting the tragedy of Pennsylvania, planting her lips on a paralyzed Damian, and turning the public into her weapon.

Ana looked down at her hands. They weren’t trembling anymore.

Slowly, deliberately, she set her ceramic cup on the saucer. She pulled the cashmere throw off her shoulders, letting it slide onto the floor. She rose to her feet, her posture snapping back into that untouchable, regal grace that had commanded the museum steps just hours ago.

Julian turned from the desk, his sharp eyes narrowing. “Ana?”

”Where is Henry?” Ana’s voice cut through the library, smooth as silk and cold as ice. There was no hesitation. No broken wife hiding from shame.

”Henry is outside with the armored Maybach,” Julian answered cautiously, stepping forward. “Ana, you can’t go anywhere near Fifth Avenue. The press is camped outside the penthouse lobby like wolves. If they catch you arriving alone…”

”I don’t care about the press, Julian,” Ana said, turning her head to meet his gaze directly. The hazel fire in her eyes was so lethal it made the seasoned aristocrat fall silent.

”Vivian played her games in the shadows of the memorial. Now she wants to play them in the daylight.” Ana smoothed the front of her gown, her chin lifting with absolute, sovereign authority. “She thinks that kiss makes her his savior. She thinks the public can pressure Damian into letting her take my place.”

Ana looked Julian dead in the eye, every word carved of steel.

”Take me to the penthouse. It’s time I go get my husband.”

************”

The private elevator rose in suffocating silence, the digital numbers ticking upward to the fifty-fourth floor.

When the brass doors slid open, the metallic scent of copper and vintage scotch hit Anastasia like a physical blow.

The penthouse foyer was in complete ruin. The half-ton marble console lay split across the threshold. Beyond it, the sprawling living room looked like the aftermath of an airstrike: pulverized crystal sparkled under the faint ambient city light pouring through the panoramic glass, splintered mahogany littered the floor, and dark drops of fresh blood marked a path into the shadows.

In the center of the devastated hall, illuminated only by the gray October rain washing over the windows, Damian sat on the floor, his back braced against a concrete pillar.

His tuxedo jacket was torn off, his shirt shredded at the chest and soaked in sweat. His knuckles were raw, split to the bone, dripping dark crimson onto the ruined hardwood. His head hung low, black hair falling over his forehead, his massive chest heaving in ragged, violent hitches.

He looked like a caged predator that had nearly torn itself apart trying to break free.

”Damian.”

Her voice was soft, barely a breath over the hum of Manhattan, but it sliced through the dead silence.

Damian’s head snapped up.

His obsidian eyes were bloodshot, dilated, and blazing with a terrifying mixture of feral fury and gutted torment. When he saw her standing there in the ruins… draped in the liquid-black silk of the gala… his jaw locked so hard the bone seemed ready to crack.

He didn’t soften. He didn’t reach out to comfort her.

”You shouldn’t have come back here, Anastasia,” Damian rasped, his baritone scraping up from his throat, cold, harsh, and lethal.

Ana didn’t flinch. Ignoring the jagged shards of glass covering the hardwood, heedless of the debris digging into the soles of her shoes, she walked directly toward him.

She dropped to her knees right in front of him.

”Damian…” Her voice broke, the unbearable weight she had carried since Pennsylvania finally caving her chest inward. Even knowing Vivian had set the trap, even knowing Damian had kept secrets, the guilt inside Ana burned hotter than any excuse. “I didn’t know. When I walked out of that house… I swear to you, I didn’t know I was pregnant.”

Damian stared at her, his lips parting in a low, bitter scoff that sounded like grinding iron.

”You think I didn’t know where you were?” he spat, his voice dropping into a dark, venomous gravel that shook the air between them. “You think you disappeared into the woods of Pennsylvania and vanished from my earth? I had eyes on your door every second of every day. I knew the name of the clinic you walked into. I knew the hour the monitors stopped beating.”

Ana’s breath caught in her throat.

”And you hid it like a coward,” Damian snarled, leaning forward, the raw violence in his eyes pinning her where she knelt. “You swallowed Vivian’s cheap lies like water. You looked at my home, you looked at me, and you were so blind, so disgustingly insecure, that you convinced yourself I was whoring in my own house. You packed a bag and ran like a fool. You threw our marriage away over a shadow… and you killed whatever chance we had in that sterile hospital room.”

The words were brutal, designed to cut to the bone, but Ana didn’t fight back. She didn’t defend herself. She looked at his bleeding hands, at the agony twisting his harsh features, and lowered her head completely.

”I know,” Ana wept, her tears finally spilling over her lashes, hot and scalding against her pale cheeks. “I know I was foolish, Damian. I let her poison me. I ran… and I lost our baby because I was too weak to stand my ground.”

She reached out with trembling fingers, taking his lacerated, blood-smeared right hand into both of hers, pressing her forehead against his raw knuckles.

”It’s my fault,” she whispered, her voice shattering on the words, surrendering every shred of her pride at his feet. “It is all my fault, Damian. I am so sorry… please, forgive me.”

Her surrender didn’t appease the beast inside him. It detonated it.

”Stop it!” Damian roared.
