STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 1119: Slaugtering the Hyenas
Wilderness (Special Base)
Jeremy Night and Stella resumed their journey. They were heading toward the abandoned valley. It didn’t take long for them to reach the place.
Stella used her vision power to check their surroundings. She saw the corrupted beasts drinking from the running stream.
A long river cut across the valley. Stella, with her beautiful wings, flew in midair. The beasts ranged from Tier-5 to Tier-6.
There was no limit on the mission. There would be credits and leaderboard points for each corpse, but the Tier-7 double-headed lizard was a bonus.
It would not be easy to come across a Tier-7 beast again.
Jeremy Night used his eye powers to look down at the area. He saw the corrupted beasts as well, but he was looking for Tier-6 beasts.
...
City A (4th Zone)
Meanwhile, the results of the recruitment reached City A as well. However, the families there were in no mood to celebrate.
Their wilderness situation had reached an escalating point. Tier-8 corrupted beasts had made an appearance, fighting against the city’s Tier-8 Beast Tamers.
On the other hand, clashes between Tier-6 and Tier-7 Beast Tamers and the Tier-6 and Tier-7 corrupted beasts had intensified as well.
Because of this, City Governors Evelina, Corvin, and Garran mobilized all the Beast Tamer resources in the city.
The Beast Taming leaders of the various factions were busy fighting against the Tier-8 corrupted beasts across several hotspots.
Even Governors Corvin and Garran had been staying in the wilderness for a long time. If they decided to return, high-tier corrupted beasts might cross the border in large numbers.
Their presence already acted as a deterrent. ℴℴ𝘮
Thanks to them, the advance of corrupted beasts into this part of the wilderness was stalled.
Still, the situation remained tense. The corrupted beasts showed no signs of stopping. They had been dealing with the problem for a week, yet they had not figured out which Tier-9 beast was responsible for the incident.
Governor Evelina looked into the matter, directing operations from her office because she was a Tier-9 Beast Tamer herself.
If she made her presence known in the wilderness, the mastermind behind the current situation might not appear.
The mastermind was none other than a Tier-9 corrupted beast. At the same time, the Tier-9 beast responsible had not shown itself, though it continued to send other beasts across the border.
Governor Evelina considered backup options, thinking of requesting help from other cities, such as City B, City C, and others.
The surrounding wilderness was quite calm. Evelina then thought of the special base, but shook her head.
She knew the special base was hosting an event, and forces from the top three zones would be visiting. She could not reasonably request their help this time.
So, she decided to send an official request to other cities in their zone. She also decided to update the Human Alliance regarding the matter, as their input was urgently needed.
She did not know whether this was the work of a cunning Tier-9 beast or of human origin. Her eyes gleamed with suspicion.
As a Tier-9 Beast Tamer, she could be considered a semi-member of the Human Alliance. Due to her current duties, she had not fully joined.
Still, she was aware that there were powerful Tier-9 Beast Tamers who liked to stir up trouble in the form of beast invasions.
Yet, she had never heard of them daring to move against the top five zones. Even so, if humans were behind the scenes, the matter needed to be thoroughly investigated.
...
Wilderness (Special Base)
As evening approached, the number of corrupted beasts leaving the area grew. We ignored the mid-tier beasts and continued to focus on the Tier-6 beasts.
Roar!
It didn’t take long for us to spot a pack of hyenas coming to drink water from the stream.
Swoosh!
The six-winged butterfly vanished from the spot. The next second, it reappeared near the hyena pack. The pack leader was a Tier-6 beast.
There were two other Tier-6 beasts among the group; the rest were Tier-5.
The Tier-6 beasts were too late to sense the attacker’s presence, catching only flashes before their eyes.
Pfff!
A beautiful, bluish butterfly with radiant wings attacked them. Its starlight-infused blade wings cut cleanly through their massive necks.
Thud!
In the blink of an eye, one after another, the heads of the Tier-6 hyena beasts dropped to the ground. A torrent of blood gushed from the decapitated necks.
The sudden attack stunned the rest of the pack. They roared in confusion and alarm, while other nearby corrupted beasts grew terrified.
They had not expected their pack leader to die so suddenly, nor the next strongest in line right after. The other corrupted beasts began fleeing the area.
The remaining hyenas became enraged, unsure of what to do. Some turned on other nearby beasts to vent their fury.
Swoosh!
Stella returned to Jeremy Night’s side. He didn’t know what to say, but he needed to collect the corpses first. He began heading down the slope.
In the blink of an eye, he reached the bottom, where he was confronted by the Tier-5 hyenas. Upon seeing a human, their eyes turned bloodshot with rage.
Swoosh!
Jeremy saw the beasts charging at him. He gripped his katana tightly and activated his vision power. His heightened senses kicked in instantly, and the movement around him slowed down.
When the first hyena lunged before him, he delivered a single, well-timed slash that swept across the beast’s neck.
Pfff!
Blood spurted from the wound as the beast collapsed to the ground. The other beasts rushed toward him one by one.
He evaded their attacks, cutting them down in turn.
Pfff!
One after another, the Tier-5 hyenas collapsed to the ground. It didn’t take long for him to finish off the pack.
He then walked over to the Tier-6 corpses, collected them, and stored them inside his storage containers.
On the other hand, Stella is busy monitoring the surroundings. The scent of blood would definitely draw attention from other higher beasts.
