Chapter 208: Chapter 208: Setting Off with a New Mask
Once their respective disguises were complete, the two women could no longer contain their excitement. They crowded eagerly around the mirror, vying to see their brand-new, altered appearances with their own eyes.
Xu Panqing gently raised a hand, softly brushing her fingers over her meticulously painted face. Her eyes sparkled with bright, pleasant surprise, like dazzling stars in the night sky.
The corners of her lips curled up into an ecstatic smile. "Buwan!" she exclaimed excitedly. "Your masterful disguise techniques are simply breathtaking! Even those who used to know me incredibly well would never be able to recognize me like this. As I stare at myself in the mirror, I can hardly believe the person looking back is really me. Hahaha!"
Beside her, Ling Yunge nodded vigorously in agreement. "Exactly! Sister Buwan, you’re more amazing than I could have ever imagined! It’s like your hands possess some sort of magic. Just look at my face—after you worked your magic, I’ve completely transformed into someone else. It’s like I’ve been reborn." She couldn’t help but touch her own cheeks with both hands, an expression of sheer disbelief plastered across her face.
After Hua Buwan finished the intricate makeup, she quickly stood up and began tidying the cluttered items on the table. Beside her, Ling Qianjun perceptively stepped forward, taking the initiative to grab the items from her hands. Cupping them as carefully as if they were precious treasures, he slowly walked into his room. Once inside, he meticulously organized and stacked everything away before carefully locking the door behind him.
"Let’s go. Time waits for no one," Hua Buwan said, her crisp voice brimming with vibrant energy. They had completely shed their original appearances, transforming into entirely different people. Even if they slipped out and strolled right through the bustling market, no one would be able to see through their true identities.
"All right!" the rest of the Ling family answered in unison.
They quickly turned around, deftly helping Hua Buwan gather the various goods they planned to sell at the market. The Ling family also brought along a portion of the seafood they had gathered from the shore. Then, moving as stealthily as thieves with guilty consciences, the group slipped quietly out of the house.
Taking advantage of the deserted roads, they quickened their pace and hurried out of the village, practically sprinting all the way toward the market.
The town market was quite large, boasting a vast and dazzling array of goods. However, because the town was relatively far from where they lived, traveling purely on foot would take them at least four hours to reach their destination. After all, they were currently situated on the most remote coastline of Lingnan. Whether it was the roads or daily living conditions, everything here was incredibly inconvenient.
Yet, it was precisely because of this unique geographical location that the area felt far more peaceful and serene compared to ordinary villages, with very few outsiders ever setting foot there. Furthermore, outsiders rarely ever risked venturing into an area densely populated by exiled criminals.
