Stockpiling for an Exiled General Through My Store's Back Door
Chapter 187: Stunned
Chapter 187: Chapter 187: Stunned
Ling Qianjun, Ling Yunge, and Ling Qianfan naturally had no objections. They stood up and helped prepare the food.
Ling Qianjun also made a silent mental note. "I need to trade for an iron pot and some kitchenware... I’ll do it at noon. Buwan has them at her supermarket. I’ll have her bring them over and pretend to be our relative."
Seeing these practical items, the villagers wouldn’t pay too much attention to them. After all, unlike gold and silver, everyday tools wouldn’t tempt people to commit crimes.
After a simple meal, Ling Qianjun tidied himself up and opened the Any Door to head to the supermarket.
Since they had finally reached their destination, they no longer had to maintain their disheveled appearances. Though they weren’t wearing new clothes just yet, they had cleaned themselves up as much as possible. Gone was the layer of grime that had covered them. Their clothes were scrubbed clean, and their hair was no longer an unkempt mess.
Ling Qianjun and Ling Qianfan used ribbons to tie their hair back into simple ponytails. Xu Panqing, as usual, used a wooden hairpin to twist her hair into a neat bun. Ling Yunge used hairbands to tie her hair into double buns, making her look lively and neat while keeping her hair out of the way for chores.
As Ling Qianjun opened the Any Door, he glanced down at his tattered clothes. "Tomorrow, I need to get some fabric and have some new clothes made. I’ve worn this outfit long enough. Mother and the younger ones’ clothes are in the same state, covered in holes. They’re barely wearable anymore."
Stepping through the Any Door and into the supermarket, he found Hua Buwan eating her brunch. She was scrolling through her phone as she ate. Something amusing caught her eye, and she burst into laughter.
Hearing the familiar automated welcome chime, Hua Buwan looked up. Ling Qianjun offered a warm smile as he strode toward her.
For a moment, Hua Buwan stared at him in a daze.
"Oh my, he changed his hairstyle. No wonder people say changing your hair is like changing your face," she thought. "With his hair hanging loose before, he had this gloomy, broken look to him. His entire demeanor felt so heavy. But now that it’s all tied back, he looks so refreshing. That gloomy aura is completely gone, and he actually looks a bit boyish. It’s just a shame he’s still wearing those same old clothes. If he changed into a new outfit, he would definitely be the ultimate historical drama heartthrob!"
She suddenly remembered his clothes. Back when she realized Ling Qianjun could leave the supermarket, she had bought a bunch of clothes specifically for him. While placing the order online, she had stumbled across some nice traditional outfits and tossed them into her cart. They were actually sitting in her room right now! She had already washed and dried them all, so they were ready to wear immediately.
She had also bought a couple of nice sets for the rest of the Ling family, too. They weren’t made of particularly expensive fabrics, just ordinary cotton. They wouldn’t attract too much attention in an ancient setting.
"Buwan, right here..." Ling Qianjun trailed off. He stared at Hua Buwan, who still had a mouthful of unswallowed wonton. A thin line of drool was slowly dripping from the corner of her mouth, nearly reaching her chin. Taking pity on her, he pointed to the corner of his own mouth to give her a hint.
"Huh?" Hua Buwan snapped back to reality and raised a hand to wipe her mouth.
When her fingers brushed against the drool, she felt like she was turning to stone. Oh my god! Did she seriously just drool in front of Ling Qianjun? She wasn’t usually this lacking in self-control!
"No, it must be because I haven’t swallowed the wonton yet! It’s definitely not because I’m drooling over his good looks! Yes, that’s exactly it. Phew," she reasoned with herself.
Having successfully convinced herself, Hua Buwan grabbed a tissue from the side and wiped her hands.
Ling Qianjun chuckled softly and averted his gaze to the shelves. "Take your time eating. There’s no rush," he said.
"Ahem, ahem." Hua Buwan lowered her head, feeling a bit guilty.
