Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Exam

"Yes, yes, yes! Hehe, what do you think of this idea?"

Hua Buwan looked up at Ling Qianjun with eager anticipation. She caught sight of Lin Qianjun nodding and giving her a thumbs-up. "That’s Buwan for you. Your mind works so fast."

Hearing his affirmative reply, Hua Buwan was overjoyed. "Then I need to stock up on a couple more freezers, otherwise we won’t have enough when the time comes." She thought, "I need to store more freezers in my spatial dimension. That way, when I make ice cubes, I can put them directly inside. I’ll be able to hoard quite a lot every day." She figured she wouldn’t have to constantly buy ice when the time came either. Making it herself was the best solution; it would just cost a bit more in water bills.

Moving past that topic, Ling Qianjun continued, "The upcoming journey should be smooth. I believe we will arrive in Lingnan faster than expected. Because we have to travel quickly, I’ll only be able to come over at night when we rest. I won’t be able to take you up the mountain to gather herbs for the time being. If I get some free time, I’ll go up the mountain to see if I can find the medicinal herbs you need."

Ling Qianjun thought to himself, "Hua Buwan ran into danger the last two times she went up the mountain to gather herbs. It’s better if she stays away. I can handle such dangerous places myself."

"Mhm, I wish you smooth sailing on your journey. I hope you arrive in Lingnan and settle down as soon as possible," Hua Buwan said sincerely.

"I will." Ling Qianjun smiled. "I should head back now. I need to rest and recharge to handle traveling during the day."

"Then I’ll get you some food and drinks. The most important thing when traveling is to replenish your energy and nutrition." Hua Buwan immediately sprang into action, grabbing sports drinks, milk tablets, and some bread.

While gathering the bread, she considered making some sandwiches during her free time the next day. They would be convenient for the group to eat on the road, and she could stuff them with meat, eggs, and vegetables. Making Chinese meat sandwiches would work, too. However, those kinds of food had to be eaten quickly; they wouldn’t last if kept stuffed in a bag all day.

Recently, apart from following up on the donations, Hua Buwan had been spending her time making Chinese meat sandwiches and regular sandwiches before nightfall to send over to the Ling Family. She hadn’t been to Dongxuan Country these past few days. The group was exhausted from traveling, and she also had her own goals to work toward—getting her driver’s license had finally been put on her agenda. She did practice questions day and night. Once she had logged enough study hours, she immediately registered for the theory test.

She chose a day when it would be less crowded, scheduling her exam for a Tuesday morning since there were always fewer people on workdays.

On Tuesday, Hua Buwan grabbed her ID card and phone, then hailed a cab to the driving test center. Her exam was scheduled for ten o’clock, but she needed to check in early. She took a cab at nine and arrived by half past. After checking in, she found herself waiting in a long line.

While waiting, Hua Buwan noticed many people staring intently at their phones, frantically doing practice questions. They looked incredibly nervous, occasionally discussing the exam questions with acquaintances standing in front of or behind them. Hua Buwan hadn’t come with the rest of her driving school cohort. Her instructor had told her that coming on her own was perfectly fine. Since she didn’t know the other students from the school, there was no need to waste time waiting around together. She figured it was better to come alone and leave as soon as she finished.

With a long line still ahead of her, a bored Hua Buwan took out her phone to review the questions she had previously gotten wrong. She had already gone through the entire question bank three times and reviewed her mistakes three times. In truth, she felt quite confident. Even so, while going over the incorrect questions again, she still managed to get two or three wrong.

By the time she had reviewed her mistakes twice more, it was almost her turn. Hua Buwan quickly exited the question bank app and pulled up her entry QR code. When she reached the front, she scanned her code at the security checkpoint. Once inside, she followed the staff’s instructions and headed up to the second floor. She placed her belongings in a locker, keeping only her phone, then went to the examination room next door. After passing through one final security check, she waited to be assigned a computer.
