Steampunk: Sixth Era Epic
Chapter 2341: About Luviya
Chapter 2341: Chapter 2341: About Luviya
Shard raised an eyebrow:
"Him? That’s a pronoun referring to a male, so the original holder of the ’Sorrow of Blood’ was male... Compared to what I want to do, this is a reasonable request... If I agree, to what extent can you fulfill it?"
"Don’t stop him, and I can lend you a hand. If he really becomes the Chosen One, this time I’ll be your loyal friend."
In other words, if the Vampire Kind doesn’t become the Chosen One, this Blood-sucking Duke would probably only show up at critical moments, or perhaps even just do minor things.
"I see..."
Shard frowned deeply, pondering:
The three ritual relics are simple, organizing over a dozen Vampire Kind in Moon Bay to pray to you is also an easy task. Although I currently don’t know who will ultimately hold the ’Sorrow of Blood,’ so I can’t promise you yet, I still want to ask, how do we perform the Godfall with the body? Should I ask your believers for help in sending another little boy to Moon Bay?"
Although Shard regarded Mr. Benhart as a friend, he didn’t want to get too deeply involved with the Vampire Sect.
"This is simple for you, didn’t you manage to see me tonight? I think you should have some ideas in your mind. The Red Moon is right above us, you should understand."
Such was the tasteful gentleman’s statement, and then he was the first to stand up:
"In any case, whether or not you agree to my terms, it’s for you to decide. But I believe you will make a choice that satisfies everyone, after all, isn’t this what you’re best at?"
"Mr. Benhart" turned and walked into the depths of the Dead Forest, quickly disappearing from Shard’s view. Shard also stood up, looking up at the large moon that was gradually transforming from blood red to silver.
The gentle night breeze brushed past, the Dead Forest had disappeared without a trace. He continued to stand on the dike, gazing at the Silvermoon, as if he had never left this place, though his mind was filled with thoughts.
(Mia running...)
Since Luviya said she would go to Moon Bay on Wednesday, the whole family began preparations early in the morning.
She had mostly packed her luggage, so she only needed to go to Old John and borrow the relics she was planning to borrow the next day. Miss Galina and Dorothy were at home helping the maids prepare other clothes for her, while Shard took Mia to Moon Bay first, informing the Countess who was preparing for the upcoming divination ritual that Luviya was arriving a day early.
"Now?"
The Blonde Witch, holding a teacup, blinked. After seeing Shard nod, she pursed her lips and stared at the red tea in her cup, as if trying to glean future information from nonexistent tea leaves.
The others didn’t have much of a reaction to Luviya’s early arrival, after all, everyone was quite familiar with her. Also, since the entire estate was currently very securely protected by the ritual, Shard ultimately decided to wait for Luviya in the stable in the back garden of the estate.
In a good mood, he took Mia to wait in the stable, while the Countess said she had to finish handling her documents first. However, after Shard went downstairs, she immediately got up to ask for others’ opinions.
"Luviya? Oh, you mean Miss Annette? She’s very nice, my sister gets along well with her. I knew her back when I was an ordinary person, she helped me a lot when I was playing divination games at the Prophet’s Society... Now thinking back, she probably feared we might do something dangerous. I do envy her, Shard treats her better than my sister... No, no, I didn’t say anything!"
"Luviya? I met her while staying at the Shard Family home, she’s in the same group with Shard, a very gentle girl. What? About me staying at the Shard Family home? Oh, that was before I came to Moon Bay, but I only stayed for half a week, I had nowhere to stay at the time. The Shard Family house is very big, though not as big as here, I liked it very much."
"Good morning, Earl. Luviya? Yes, Miss Galina speaks highly of her, saying that although she’s not a Witch, she has a Witch’s grace, enough to help Shard support their family. Her abilities? That’s private, sorry, I’m just a maid, I can’t casually talk about this. You ask about her appearance? A very beautiful girl. Comparing her figure to mine, this... Sorry, Earl, these aren’t things to comment on lightly."
"Luviya? Granny and I saw her in the recent Green Lake battle, Granny praised Miss Annette for being amazing, and said that it’s Shard’s luck to have her by his side. Granny also said to learn from her, but privately, let me tell you, Earl, I’m actually a bit afraid of her... No, no, she’s not fierce at all, I just feel she’s really impressive."
"Good morning, Bella, what’s with that look? Hmm? Want to talk about something mysterious?
Oh, you’re asking about Luviya Annette, I knew of her when I was at Coldwater Port. Speaking of which, Galina is quite funny, she met Shard first, yet let an ordinary girl take the lead.
You ask my perception of her? That’s hard to say... She’s somewhat like His Excellency the Speaker. Why are you so shocked? I know it’s a high appraisal, but I see great potential in her, and Shard sees it too, and the Chosen of Balance also holds her in high regard. Oh, look, isn’t that Iluna walking in the courtyard?"
"Good morning, Miss Belindel, is Shard here? In the stable? Is Luviya coming soon? Great! I’ll go now... What? Luviya, yes, I’m quite familiar with her.
Luviya, Shard, and I initially agreed to witness the story of the Chosen One. You ask what kind of person Luviya is? She’s great. What makes her great? Just that she’s great, among the three of us, she’s indispensable. Is she a generous person? That’s a strange question, but I suppose so, as no one has ever said she’s stingy."
Even after talking to many people, the Countess didn’t form a greater impression of "Luviya Annette." Fortunately, Miss Aphrola, Iluna, Angelina, and Emilia were also going to the stable to await Luviya’s arrival, so she wouldn’t have to bear the "pressure" alone.
"Miss, you don’t really need to be so nervous, Tifa also says Miss Annette is a very nice person."
Even her apprentice and Personal Maid, Miss Matilda, noticed her nervousness, but the maid’s comfort didn’t help:
"Matilda, we shouldn’t underestimate her. I’m telling you, this kind of resourceful girl isn’t as simple as we imagine. Look, even though she stands out above everyone else, everyone has a good impression of her. Do you think this is normal?"
In any case, the group went to the stable together, while the bored Shard was observing the slow movements of the horses eating grass with the cat.
At nine-thirty in the morning, a gunshot echoed from the void, and a girl carrying a suitcase suddenly appeared from the void, landing in Shard’s arms. Shard caught the bullet that went through Luviya’s palm and tried to penetrate his heart, and then he spun Luviya around:
"Welcome to Moon Bay!"
Luviya’s penetrating wound in her palm quickly healed, and her purple eyes, sparkling with a bright smile, looked at Shard:
"Don’t act like you haven’t seen me in a while; we only parted two hours ago, remember?"
Then she greeted the girls who came to welcome her. The elves and Little Princess were delighted to see a familiar face again. Iluna smiled and nodded at her, while Miss Aphrola shook hands with Luviya.
When Luviya looked at Miss Belindel, the Countess raised her head, also looking at her with a bright smile. The first thing the witch noticed was those purple eyes.
For an instant, she even felt her heart might stop beating. The memories of nightmares brought by those familiar eyes almost made her think she was still in a dream.
She instinctively wanted to step back, but fortunately, the loyal maid Miss Matilda gave her a timely push, preventing her from making a faux pas.
Luviya blinked suspiciously and took the initiative to say:
"You must be Earl Belindel, right? I often hear Shard mention you. Good morning, Earl, I’ll be intruding on you for a while."
She didn’t say things like "Thank you for taking care of Shard during this time" or "I’m sorry for the trouble Shard caused you," which witches would jokingly say to each other.
Miss Matilda gently pushed her mistress again, and only then did the Countess extend her hand:
"Welcome to Moon Bay, Miss Annette."
The two hands shook together, and at the moment of contact, the witch almost couldn’t suppress her trembling. She felt every part of her body urging her to stay away from the girl in front of her, yet she didn’t sense any threat from her.
"Shard said I should assist you with divination. He praised you for being amazing."
Luviya continued to smile and speak, and the Countess replied politely:
"Please come this way. If you don’t need rest, we can prepare for divination right now."
After she turned around, she widened her eyes to express her inner questions and confusion, but she still led the group out of the stable. Clearly, this purple-eyed girl was genuinely nice, gentle, and unpretentious, even though her level wasn’t higher than hers. But she felt being with her was more stressful than engaging in a battle.
Shard and Miss Aphrola walked at the end, and the Light Witch lowered her voice to speak to Shard with a smile:
"Look at Bella’s demeanor. What did Luviya do to have her under control like that at first sight?"
"Under control?"
Shard asked curiously:
"What is under control?"
"It’s nothing."
The witch laughed happily, probably thinking that other witches indeed couldn’t compare to herself:
"But I must admit, you are indeed lucky to be the first to meet Luviya."
"Yes."
Shard immediately nodded and gazed at the short brown-haired figure ahead:
"I’ve always thought that... Speaking of which, Luviya’s shoulder-length hair seems to have grown a lot longer recently. She indeed said she wanted to grow long hair. Luviya with long hair, I’m truly looking forward to it."
