Steampunk: Sixth Era Epic
Chapter 2333: Relics
Chapter 2333: Chapter 2333: Relics
"Wait, the light will not melt the light. If the warm sunlight on this armor can persist, then can this armor, to some extent, help the wearer resist the unusual glow present in the Sixth Era?"
Shard thought to himself, and because of the attachment of the Miracle Element, the armor had undergone some changes.
Besides emitting warm sunshine itself, Shard simply touched it to assess that the armor’s physical defense and defense against incantations had both slightly increased.
"Since you don’t know what’s happened to it either, why not leave it here to continue receiving the sunlight, and take it with you the next time you leave?"
The Old Elf suggested again, and Shard thought about it, feeling the idea was not bad. Although he had never actively left any items in a past space-time, even if it failed, the armor would just return with him.
Placing the armor at the temple entrance seemed inappropriate, so Shard looked around and soon chose the altar deep inside the temple.
However, since this altar was once used for the Sun God’s rituals, Shard cautiously prayed first, and then with effort moved the altar to be fully exposed under the sunlight instead of just halfway.
After doing all this, he then transferred the armor box onto the altar.
Originally, Shard wanted to expose as many parts of the armor as possible to the sunlight, so he intended to open the box. But then he thought, Old Lady Sianod and the others still had to live here. If the armor could truly be left here, they might feel annoyed seeing the lion-shaped armor every day. And anyway, he didn’t really need the armor to become powerful; his own body was strong enough.
Thus, what was ultimately placed on the altar was the closed form of the armor box. Among the "Smiling Sun Emblem," "Sword and Shield," "Golden Lion," and the "Woman’s Face Surrounded by Curvy Patterns" on the box’s side, the "Smiling Sun Emblem" faced the slanting sunlight.
And after doing all this, white mist already surrounded Shard.
Holding the little Mia in his arms, Shard formally bid farewell to the ladies:
"Old Lady Sianod, Miss Sander, Miss Mister, and Miss Nate, I have to leave again. During my absence, I will investigate the pattern on the door that Miss Sander painted, and you should also prepare for the exploration together."
"Alright, leave with peace of mind."
The Old Elf said with a smile, while Miss Mister just sat there nodding toward Shard. Miss Sander and Miss Nate, however, accompanied Shard to the temple entrance, watching him carry the tail-on-fire cat into the depths of the desert until he completely disappeared from sight.
The two returned to their seats beside the chairs, and after sitting down, they felt they didn’t want to say or do anything else. It was as if after leaving with Shard and the cat, all the vitality in the temple went with them, or rather, they had brought vitality with them.
Now, only four remained there, with souls worn down by enduring time becoming silent again. Though they still had to prepare for Shard’s next return and final adventure, anyway, there was plenty of time.
Miss Nate glanced at the stone heart beside her, while Miss Sander looked up at the metallic box on the altar deep in the temple, illuminated by sunlight.
The golden box shimmered under the sunlight, and she gazed at this scene dazedly, suddenly feeling that this armor-contained box matched so well with the temple. When it was placed on the altar and illuminated by sunlight, the Mermaid Girl even felt that this scene was so naturally fitting, more so than the most beautiful corals under the sea.
"It seems it was meant to be this way."
She was completely unaware that her eyes had been dyed golden by the golden sheen on the box, and neither Old Lady Sianod nor Miss Nate noticed her unconscious steps towards the box like a moth to a flame.
Fortunately, after the Mermaid Girl took the first step, Miss Mister sitting beside her reached out to pull her back.
The blue-haired girl then sat back down, taking big breaths and lowering her head. Suddenly, she turned to look at the woman with the light brown skin and whispered:
"Thank you, I just... That box is so beautiful."
Although the others weren’t sure what happened, they all looked at the golden box Shard had left. No one said a word, and in the quiet temple, an unexpectedly solemn atmosphere arose, making even the ordinary person, Miss Nate, feel a bit suffocated.
A little while later, the elderly elf spoke first:
"Don’t investigate, we are just here to find the ’Heart of the Oasis.’ If we can leave here safely, not much of the remaining memory will remain. Some things are better left unknown; this is not something you should contact. Don’t try to understand, don’t try to feel, don’t think about anything."
The blue-haired girl nodded cluelessly, but when she looked down at her feet, she secretly raised her eyes and glanced at the box again.
For a deep-sea Mermaid, the warm sunlight is something they rarely encounter. And compared to the scorching sun of the desert, it is evident that this box is much warmer and more comfortable.
The Sixth Era, 1853, Thunder Moon, 28th, Monday morning.
[Outlander, you have returned to the present time.]
"Oh~"
As Shard returned holding the cat, which did not turn into a toy and returned to the present time zone with him, from the doorway, the Red-Haired Duchess came forward, wrapping her arms around Shard’s shoulders and twirling him around as if they were dancing. Then she slightly bent over, allowing Shard to lean back, and then kissed him.
The icy breath from the witch was sent into Shard’s mouth, and the heat all over his body gradually began to feel his body temperature returning to normal.
But he didn’t notice that the witch had opened her eyes to look forward, so Luviya and Dorothy both gave her a thumbs-up gesture.
Since they were kissing, it wasn’t convenient to smile, but Galina Cavendish still followed the plan, reaching a hand downward, and then...
"Oh! What are you doing!"
Shard separated from her in panic and protested.
"The temperature really did rise. Oh, so spirited early in the morning, Shard, your reaction is quite fast."
The witch said leisurely, and then unreasonably kissed Shard again, helping him continue to lower his body temperature.
After a long while, they finally separated, and the Red-Haired Witch confidently said to the two girls standing beside her:
"The guess is right, indeed the whole body temperature is rising. If any of you are interested, next time after Shard finishes this key adventure, you can..."
"Please don’t say it!"
Shard interrupted her, so Galina laughed and shook her head, then kissed his cheek affectionately. The scent of the witch’s perfume had already filled the air around Shard. To be honest, being able to immediately smell something that invigorated him after enduring a harsh environment, he was quite pleased.
Luviya, smiling at the side, changed the subject:
"Alright, alright, sit down and tell us a story. Of course, before telling the story, you’d better first explain how Mia’s tail caught fire."
Shard turned to look at his shoulder, where the cat’s tail was still on fire. Yet Mia herself didn’t seem to mind much. Having returned to a familiar and comfortable home, she showed even more relaxation than in the desert:
"Mia evolved... I mean, she... let’s tell the story first."
The second adventure in the Gravel Golden Sea was even more complicated than the first, because this time Miss Mister didn’t do much, allowing Shard to describe most of the details.
Lady Knight, Power of the Earth, Illusionary Realm, Demon, Golden Armor, and of course, the burning cat could not be forgotten.
And when Shard mentioned Mia’s strength further enhancing, now able to spit out small flames, Dorothy looked quite worriedly at the cat lying on the coffee table.
As Shard thought, the flame temperature on Mia’s tail wasn’t very high and wouldn’t easily ignite furniture, so it was okay to let her wander around.
"So, you successfully kept that armor?"
Once Shard finished the story, Miss Writer asked again, and Shard nodded:
"At least I didn’t find the armor followed me back. I am not worried about the armor coming back with me; I am worried that next time I won’t be able to bring it back.
After all, for my time exploration, apart from essential mission items, other items with supernatural power cannot traverse between two times. That set of armor is already glowing, and I’m worried that next time I go back, I won’t even be able to turn it into a toy."
"After all, it was given to you by Miss Gawder, so you cherish it, don’t you?"
Duchess asked, and Shard suspected she was teasing, but he still explained:
"It’s one of the rare pieces of evidence proving that Miss Gawder is a real person."
"Look at him, now not only does he still doubt his cat is unusual, but he’s also beginning to doubt the cat’s owner is unusual."
Thus, Miss Galina laughed and said to Dorothy, while Miss Writer comforted:
"Alright, alright, don’t worry about that now. If that armor belongs to you, you’ll surely be able to retrieve it. At least this experiment was successful, wasn’t it? You left an ordinary item in the past."
"There have been similar instances before, like the flower for Miss Feliana, and Fiona having a coat of mine, cough, cough, take a look at this pattern."
He then drew on the paper the pattern that Miss Sander saw on the head’s mouth door while racing at midnight.
Miss Galina, Luviya, and Dorothy all picked it up to look, but none of them recognized what it was:
"We’ll help you investigate, Witch Council, Zaras Literary Academy, Prophet’s Society, there will be clues. The girls of Moon Bay are preparing to face the dragon, and we can assist you in Tobesk as well."
