Steampunk: Sixth Era Epic
Chapter 2307: Vulture Mountain Creekland
Chapter 2307: Chapter 2307: Vulture Mountain Creekland
Today’s weather is quite nice, and the sky in the countryside is a clear blue.
Emilia only needs to hang a Camouflage Spell, and she can run freely along the country roads with the Little Unicorn. They both seem quite excited, and the little beast, cooped up in the manor for a week, can finally run freely again.
"Oh~ Little Liana, don’t run so fast! Wait for Shard and Miss Eles!"
The elf girl is ahead, while Shard and Miss Eles follow behind them with smiles.
"It really feels like going back to the Fifth Era."
The two horses walk side by side at a slow pace, allowing the Little Unicorn and Emilia to run around.
The blue-eyed girl softly speaks to Shard beside her, as Shard shifts his gaze from the countryside scenery, where the summer landscape is indeed beautiful, with dust rising from the horses’ hooves and lush green rice fields on either side.
"Is it because you saw a Unicorn?"
Miss Eles gently nods:
"I told you last time, after you left, I lived with Miss Violet and others for many years, so I’ve seen similar scenes. However, back then, it was the Royal Maids Group and the Witch Legion riding the Unicorns, and they were much more mature than Emilia."
She lowers her voice slightly so Emilia won’t hear, but there’s a clear smile on her face.
"Miss Violet and Miss Teresa... besides that Dragon Language Spell, did they leave any message for me?"
Although Shard always avoids asking such questions and avoids inquiring about what happened to them in the end, he couldn’t help but ask at this moment.
Miss Eles shakes her head:
"It’s still not the time for you to know, but Shard... there are many people waiting for you in the river of time, waiting for you to turn back and look at them.
But they aren’t just waiting; these ladies are also trying to find you. I was just lucky enough to be the first to cross time to be by your side, but I can never go back to the past to help you understand those stories."
She looks at the man riding next to her in the sunlight:
"You always remember us, don’t you?"
"Of course."
"That’s good, come catch up with us, Shard, you have to take our hands."
She then smiles, waves her reins, and goes after the already distant Emilia and Little Liana, while Shard takes his reins and follows them.
Regarding the ladies of the Fifth Era, Shard always believes that there will be an opportunity to meet again, so he doesn’t dwell on these matters at the moment.
However, watching Miss Eles riding a horse ahead, Shard feels quite odd.
After all, Miss Eles being considered both a dragon and a ship is understandable, yet whether it’s a dragon riding a horse or a ship riding a horse, it’s an image beyond most people’s imagination.
Of course, Shard isn’t foolish enough to voice his thoughts.
The northern terrain of Moon Bay is rugged and varied. Besides deserts and glaciers, most terrestrial natural landscapes can be found here, with the highest mountains not as extreme as the peaks of the Rommel Mountains in the Middle East of the Old Continent. Still, the Vulture Mountain in Moon Bay ranks as the seventh tallest peak on the Western Coast of the United Kingdom of Carsonrick... This name complements Whisper Hills, Poisonous Swamp, and Black Forest quite well.
Their trip was not aiming for Vulture Mountain, but for an unnamed mountain valley creekland on the map under the mountain.
After leaving the farm, the Little Unicorn ran around excitedly, similar to Emilia, due to the excitement of a new environment. But soon Miss Eles began leading the way, and Emilia obediently kept pace with Shard, although it was obvious that the not much larger than a horse beast didn’t think much of Shard’s mount.
This demeanor oddly resembles the look on Mia’s face after bullying other cats.
On the way, they rescued an herbalist bitten by a poisonous snake and verified their direction with a passing freight wagon. Only at eleven in the morning did they approach the forest outside the mountain valley creekland.
The valley was rugged, and the forest paths were difficult, but riding the Unicorn, Emilia led the way, surprisingly finding a path in the originally pathless forest.
This is a unique talent of elves; forest spirits blessed by the Tree Father are also favored by the forest.
Shard didn’t intend to continue on an empty stomach, so seeing that it was about time, the trio had lunch quietly in the woods.
After lighting a campfire, Shard tossed out a Ruby, and after a smoke dispersed, a steaming hot lunch appeared, served in bamboo tubes, wooden bowls, and stone mortars.
The Unicorn feed promised by Miss Danester had been delivered to the manor some days ago. Shard first prepared lunch for the Little Unicorn and then confirmed that the two horses were eating grass before returning to the campfire.
In fact, there was no need for a campfire at lunch, but Shard thought camping without a campfire seemed very informal.
"What a sumptuous lunch!"
Emilia sat beside the Little Unicorn, somewhat amazed by Shard’s Arcane Technique. She could sense that it seemed related to time. And Miss Eles just smiled without comment, taking a glance at the craftsmanship of the wooden bowl that Shard handed over.
Earlier on the road, Shard had already chatted with this blue-eyed lady about some past events, so Emilia generally knew about Miss Eles’s affairs, aware that she had experienced a long slumber since the Fifth Era and had only recently awakened.
Thus, during lunch, Emilia curiously asked:
"So, what race do you actually belong to?"
The question was not malicious, just curious, so the shapely lady smiled and thought for a moment:
"At sea, I am a ship; on land, you can totally regard me as a Dragonborn."
As she spoke, her clothes at the back bulged, and then two wings covered with blue dragon scales appeared behind her. At the same time, small dragon horns also emerged on her head, although they were not very conspicuous.
Shard even looked behind her body, attempting to find a dragon tail, and then got lightly scolded by the Blue Dragon Girl with a gentle pat:
"How rude."
She clearly saw what Shard was searching for, and in this Dragonborn form, Shard even noticed that her blue eyes had transformed into vertical pupils.
"My Blue Dragon lineage accounts for only half of my soul, so in Dragonborn form, I don’t have a tail. However, I can transform into a Blue Dragon, and when I return to the Radiant Messenger, I can enable the ship to exhibit dragon characteristics. No matter what, my human appearance is my true form."
While speaking, she raised her finger, and thus a small flame appeared at her fingertip.
The Little Unicorn immediately bit Emilia’s clothes, letting her step back a little. It clearly sensed the danger in the flame.
After the three of them enjoyed lunch in the woods, they continued on their way. Emilia, still sitting sideways on the Little Unicorn’s back, led the way. At around one in the afternoon, the sound of rushing water came from ahead in the forest.
"We’ve arrived."
Maintaining her Dragonborn stance, Miss Eles said, while Emilia curiously looked towards the direction of the water flow:
"This place feels very familiar."
"Yes, this is the ruins left behind by the Elves."
Beyond the last shrubs, the river in the Creekland of the River Valley unfolded before their eyes. The stream originated from the top of Buzzard Mountain and flowed from the summit to the foot, forming a unique creek environment here with beautiful natural scenery, fresh air, and a rich ecosystem.
The clear stream water and the mottled shadows of trees left marks in the valley, delighting Emilia and the Little Unicorn.
The Elf Girl let out an "ah~," startling the three young deer drinking by the river. But after the Little Unicorn "Ang~" called out, the three little deer hesitated and stopped.
They cautiously approached the Little Unicorn, lowered their heads, and accepted the joyful touch of Emilia’s extended hand to stroke them, which led them to curl up and lie down by its side, subsequently leading the Little Unicorn to the creek to drink.
The two horses were temporarily tied in the woodland, and Shard used the Night Watchman to draw a circle for a ceremony, preventing them from being harmed by wild animals, then followed Emilia with Miss Eles.
"I haven’t seen the Elven Ruins."
Shard softly asked the girl beside him, worried about disturbing the scene of the Unicorn and the little deer playing in the water.
"It hasn’t appeared yet, but with Miss Sianod here, don’t worry about not opening the ruins."
"Have you been here before?"
Shard again curiously asked, and the blue-eyed Dragon Girl shook her head:
"No, the trace of that Sword was told to me by an ordinary old man.
Her family was responsible for guarding this ruin, but she was ultimately too old; none of her children were suitable to guard here, so she gave this responsibility to me. That was over a hundred years ago. If we happen to pass by later, we can visit her grave for homage."
After the Little Unicorn finished drinking, Emilia removed her shoes and socks and entered the clear creek together with it, accompanied by the three little deer.
However, the Elf Girl remembered the group’s intent for this visit, so she only played for a while before persuading the deer to leave, then returned to the shore with the Unicorn.
Miss Eles stepped forward, the Twelve-Ring Life Ring floating behind her with the sound of steam whistles and bells.
She rightly claimed to be Twelve Rings, but her Core Spirit Runes numbered as many as seven:
Miracle - [Ship], Miracle - [Dragon], Miracle - [Dream], Whisper - [Undying], Whisper - [Disaster], Enlightenment - [Ocean], Enlightenment - [Extinguishing Light].
Although Shard hasn’t seen much similar research, her situation where the Enlightenment Spirit Runes among the Core Spirit Runes are in the minority is definitely a non-human trait.
Of course, Miss Eles is not human, as Shard knew since the previous Era. He was merely reflecting that such non-human Twelve Rings are definitely not of ordinary Twelve Rings.
