Chapter 2264: Chapter 2264: Farewell and Arrival

Miss Eles in the rain was clearer than Shard had ever seen her at any time. She stood right in front of him, and just this simple sentence left Shard stunned, wanting to ask why she had been absent.

He looked at the cheerful young lady in the rain, gazing at someone from the distant past who was indeed in the present:

"Yes, it’s been a long time... You... are finally willing to see me?"

"There is a reason for this."

Her blue eyes squinted with laughter, she joyfully looked at the young man who already knew everything, exactly as she remembered him. It’s been a long long time since the Sea of Darkness, since her birth, and she was very happy only she had to wait, while he remained the same:

"I know you have many questions, but now is not the time to chat. I will leave for now, and we shall meet again at Princess Margaret’s welcome banquet."

"But..."

She didn’t give Shard the chance to object and disappeared across the sea like a phantom. Just as Shard was about to show a lost expression, Miss Eles suddenly reappeared before him:

"You owe me two kisses, no, adding this time because I helped, that’s three. This time, definitely don’t forget~"

"I won’t forget this time."

Miss Eles nodded with a smile, curtsied by pulling her skirt, and completely vanished, leaving only Shard and the Little Unicorn.

Shard remembered that Emilia had the ability to Water Walk, but perhaps due to significant consumption she couldn’t dive alone anymore. She didn’t jump from the unicorn’s back, instead, she looked at Shard with tearful eyes:

"That’s great, I thought, I thought you..."

"It’s alright now, it’s alright."

Shard approached the Little Unicorn’s side and gave her a hug, Emilia clung tight to him and stopped sobbing. Shard thought she would say more, but the girl held in his arms said nothing.

Upon another look, Emilia was clearly unconscious with her eyes closed. The Little Unicorn tried to look at its back worriedly, and the sword in her hand returned to its form as [Night Watchman].

[Don’t worry, she’s just consumed too much, a little rest will be fine.]

Before Shard could ask, "she" softly spoke in Shard’s ear. The disappearance of the "Sword of Light" also meant the matter was completely resolved.

Indeed, as dense bubbles surged from under the water, the black cube flew out of the water, and with its rotation, Dr. Schneider appeared again.

He beamed at Shard with a gesture of everything being smooth, although emerging from underwater, he didn’t have a bit of water on him. He wanted to approach Shard, but stopped at the Little Unicorn’s unfriendly "Ang~" cry and shook his head helplessly:

"Alright, alright, I won’t approach. Shard, this matter is finished, though there were some minor surprises, overall it was indeed smooth."

"This counts as minor surprises... but indeed, it went quite smoothly."

Shard smiled too, the doctor didn’t hide the excitement on his face:

"Leave things to you here, I’ll head back to Tobesk first. I’ve placed white mice in the clinic basement, safe houses, and three other locations in the city for easy return. Come to my clinic tonight, I’ll tell you about the findings of this time."

With that, he tossed the red glass bead he had been holding to Shard:

"Consider this a gift for Miss Sianod, although it’s specially meant to counter Fanarius, wearing it as a pendant can also deter other demons to some extent... leave her not speaking carelessly to you."

Shard understandingly nodded:

"Rest assured, aside from those ladies just now, no one knows you were here."

"I knew it, you’re great at handling such interpersonal matters."

The doctor praised with a smile, but Shard felt he was being subtle. Then Bill Schneider took out the small handgun aiming at his hand back, before Shard called out to him:

"Doctor, when you go back, deal with your hair first... you look energetic, but probably won’t be recognized by others."

He held back laughter on his face, the doctor touched his hair only to find that due to the lightning strike earlier, he had become a frizzy head:

"Thank you for reminding me. If you want to laugh, just laugh. See you tonight."

After the bang of the gunshot, the doctor also vanished from the surface of the water.

Shard supported the unconscious Emilia and glanced toward the northern port direction, then gently patted the little unicorn:

"Can you carry us, fly along the coastline to the west of the city, and then return?"

"Ang~"

It gently rubbed Shard’s palm with the side of its face, seemingly quite willing to let Shard ride on it.

Even a young unicorn can easily carry two people flying quickly. But when Shard held Emilia in his arms, leaning on the little unicorn’s back and going far away, his face looked anything but relaxed.

[What are you worried about? The meeting with Desire afterward?]

"She" gently asked, the roaring wind and thunder couldn’t hide the voice.

"No, I’m thinking, since Priest Augustus might slightly lose control due to taking in too much power of death, I wonder if Dr. Schneider, who also uses non-human powers, might..."

"She" didn’t reply, just softly laughed in Shard’s ear. Shard didn’t know what it meant, but he decided to inquire about this question when he visits the doctor’s clinic tonight.

The heavy rain, foretold ahead by divination, indeed didn’t cease even up till the afternoon. For the city’s residents, the dragon roar amidst the thunder in the morning wasn’t much of a news event anymore. After all, such phenomena occurred on Sundays over the past couple weeks, almost becoming a regular Sunday spectacle.

However, the dragon roar again made most citizens, whose ancestors lived in this city, believe that the prophecy about Moon Bay City’s inevitable destruction was really coming true.

In truth, it wasn’t just the dragon roar; people weren’t too concerned about the suddenly closed-off city center square or the Big Ben Belindel that suddenly needed repairs and hence recently was not open to the public. Except for those unfortunate people troubled by shattered glass windows due to the dragon roar, the most important event for Moon Bay today is Princess Margaret Anjou’s visit.

The appearance of an Angel-Level Relic in the city center and the seeming ancient fiend having shown up in this city then being banished couldn’t shake the local nobles from proceeding to the train station to greet Her Highness’s arrival.

As the most crucial local noble and indeed one of the actual controllers of Moon Bay, Countess Bella Belindel certainly had to appear at the train station to show respect for the Royal Family. Although the Seven Great Families of Moon Bay might not wish to comply with Velindale, outward formalities still had to be carried out.

"Galina’s Maid Squad has already arrived at the manor. I’ve arranged for them to stay on the second floor, and he’s on the third floor looking after Emilia; I hope they won’t run into each other."

Standing on the platform, waiting for the train with the crowd, the Countess kept dwelling on various thoughts. Miss Matilda beside her also noticed her master’s distress, thus whispered:

"Miss, you don’t need to worry so much. Before we headed out, I already instructed the other maids to help keep watch at the staircase leading to the third floor. Also, Duke Galina’s maids are very orderly people; they won’t wander around. That gentleman has been taking care of Miss Sianod and won’t easily meet other people on the second floor."

Seeing Miss Belindel still worried, she added:

"He managed to handle things like those this morning; even if he encounters the other Earl’s servants, it wouldn’t be a big deal. Moreover, once those two ladies arrive later, they can also mediate."

The Countess nodded slightly but didn’t think it would be that simple:

"You don’t know Galina, she’s not someone easy to persuade. She’s very determined; making her accept his special existence isn’t a simple task."

After speaking, she sighed lightly again. Looking around, finding people waiting for the princess’s arrival showing diverse expressions, yet few seemed as troubled as her.

Thus, Martin Edington leaned slightly closer:

"Earl Belindel, do you worry that much? I see you help Her Highness sell goods; your relationship should be quite good, right?"

Miss Belindel knew he was testing the depth of her relationship with Margaret Anjou, but she wasn’t in the mood to discuss such matters now. The morning’s events developed to that degree, even if safely resolved at the end, would still make local conditions more tumultuous in the coming time, and the arrival of Witch of the Earth Vanessa Benanis and Witch of Space Emma Sylvia introduced more uncertainties into her "pure" love relationship.

Whether it be "business" or personal matters, she had many worries, thus perfunctorily replied to Earl Edington:

"I’m concerned about how to host Her Highness Margaret; she said she would find time to visit my manor privately, and I have no experience in hosting a princess."

Miss Belindel again internally blamed Vanessa and Emma for introducing Princess Margaret to "Watson," while the Old Earl smiled on the surface, internally pondering if the Belindel Family had completely sided with the Anjou Royal Family.

The train carrying Princess Margaret’s group bound for Moon Bay City naturally wouldn’t be late, and as time approached, the counts, viscounts, and barons of the Seven Great Families gathered together, followed by other local nobles and the mayor.

Reporters set up cameras, the orchestra was ready to perform. Local socialites proudly tidied up their attire, and after an excited shout from someone — "The train is arriving!" — people surged forward, while the police responsible for maintaining order barely managed to hold them back.
