Steampunk: Sixth Era Epic
Chapter 2262: Sword and Tower
Chapter 2262: Chapter 2262: Sword and Tower
Golden lightning illuminated the dark sky completely at this moment. When Emilia raised the sword, the electric light fell upon the High Tower, followed by a sound that seemed to come from an even higher place in the sky—a voice that had existed since the very beginning, at the dawn of the world—
"Roar~"
Just the sound alone shattered all the street-facing glass in Moon Bay’s core district surrounding the Belindel Big Bell.
Cries of panic echoed throughout the city, while above the Bell Tower, a blinding white light pierced through the clouds, shining down on the clock tower top struck by the golden lightning, echoing the ancient dragon’s roar in Moon Bay City this Sunday morning in the rain.
Most people were unable to discern what was happening; all they saw was a shimmering light containing all colors lighting up atop the Belindel Big Bell. Although the light did not shine as brilliantly as the earlier Silvermoon, no one could ignore the intensity of that color and the immense force that appeared with the lightning and dragon’s roar, seeming capable of sweeping away any darkness.
That glimmer was now in Emilia’s hand, more precisely, the pointed-eared elf girl was staring in shock at the pure white Light Sword in her hand. She had thought she was in for another instance of bad luck when struck by lightning after raising her sword, regretting holding metal high in stormy weather. But in the next moment, the feeling of the Silver Sword vanished, and she felt as though she was holding a sphere of light.
The force of that sphere poured into her body as well, her wounds slowly healing, and the mental and soul damage caused by the demon’s malice dissipating without trace.
Not only that, an unprecedented force surged into her body, her Ring of Fate automatically appeared, not only the miracle-[Hero] Spirit Rune automatically engraved, but even the Light Sword’s radiance dyed her entire Ring of Fate pure white.
The pure white glimmer linked the Bell Tower to the sky, and as the light gradually calmed, all of the force concentrated into the white Light Sword itself, Emilia felt as if she were about to become part of that light.
The ancient Bloodline Power awoke as a result, yet the newly born Elf Hero did not know what this meant for her.
"There’s such a thing?"
The floating Ravenfolk murmured to itself, revealing emotion for the first time in its tone:
"Have I interfered too much, is fate reacting..."
"There’s such a thing?"
Sitting up in shock, Shard, who perfected a feigning death plan by holding the Calamity Card: Undying Wraith, utilizing Corpse Transformation, said:
"Emilia drew the Sword of Light? Am I dreaming?"
"She" smiled gently:
[Outlander, you have guided a Hero. You have gained insight into ’guidance.’]
"There’s such a thing?"
Dr. Schneider, hiding in a concealed space using the Maze Demon’s spatial trait, was forced to reveal his form due to the power shockwave when the "Sword of Light" was forged. As the black cube unfolded, he fell awkwardly onto the observation platform:
"I’m not a bad person, why was I judged as an enemy too?"
In the club, watching the top of the tower, the Witch of Fate, Iluna at the base sensing the unusual power, and Dorothy peeking from the carriage window, all showed expressions of astonishment:
"There’s such a thing?"
Only the "Mermaid" in the water continued to laugh at the Bell Tower in the rain, knowing Shard would always surprise her.
Holding the Light Sword, Emilia didn’t bother with anyone else, instead turned in surprise towards the seated Shard:
"You’re not dead?"
"We’ll discuss that later, charge together, we absolutely can’t let it escape!"
Shard wiped rain from his face, leaping up to attack the Ravenfolk whose body stiffened and couldn’t escape immediately due to the appearance of the sword.
The latter casually flicked him away, and Shard fell from the sky like a cannonball. But then Emilia casually swung the massive Light Blade, and the "Sword of Light’s" inherent Space Lock ability left the demon no place to hide. It reached out to clamp the still time, trying to transform into a flock of ravens to escape. Yet the spinning Light Wheel sliced off its entire right arm.
"What, you can move in Time Stasis?"
Misfortune Demon - Fanarius turned to look at Shard, rain droplets frozen in time were sent flying in different directions by Shard as they collided, a silent world where only they regarded each other.
"What a foolish question."
Shard cast another Light Wheel, which was casually shattered by the Ravenfolk, who then shifted his body to dodge the direction of the Sword of Light and let time resume as normal.
Amidst the rustling sound, the stagnant raindrops continued to fall. Emilia’s Light Sword clashed with the demon, narrowly missing, but in the next moment, a gigantic black hand, dripping with slime, grabbed the demon dressed in a black formal suit, forcibly pressing it from the air onto the viewing platform floor.
"Caught you—oh!"
The doctor initially wanted to get closer but immediately retreated as if burned by fire, even the enormous black hand scattered into black slime falling into the rain. Emilia’s Longsword continued to repel his power.
Thus, the battered Ravenfolk took the opportunity to rise up, spinning to transform into a jet-black crow flying skyward. Following it, chains flew from Shard’s cuffs also up towards the sky.
"Too late, just missed!"
The doctor said regretfully, clutching the glass bead in his left hand ready to launch it, but Shard summoned Yggdrasil’s Staff into his left hand, while his right hand grasped Miss Isabella’s pocket watch:
"Just in time! Time Stasis!"
The Long Staff struck the ground; of course, surrounding time did not halt. However, with Spirit’s consumption almost exhausting Shard, the crow in mid-air appeared frozen in the rain.
The time stasis held it for not even a second, but this was enough for the Great Sin Chains behind it to latch onto one of its feet. Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Rage, Coldly, Pride, Prejudice, seven runes emitting deep black light formed the chain connecting the Bell Tower and high sky; "Desire" was right, at least seven runes were needed.
When the time started flowing again on the crow’s body, not knowing what happened, it immediately fell from the sky.
Panting heavily, Emilia swung another sword without thinking, the black crow connected to the chains collided with the Light Sword airborne and exploded into a massive blood mist, with Emilia herself finally bending over due to lack of stamina.
"Don’t relax, that sword didn’t hit the vital point! It can’t be dead so easily!"
Dr. Schneider, who knew best, warned loudly, and Shard, also sensing something was still at the end of the Great Sin Chains, certainly didn’t relax. But the "Adel’s Time Stasis" exhausted way too much energy, and the rapidly changing battle didn’t allow him to replenish his consumption immediately.
He could only pull the chain back in his direction, while clutching the red glass bead, waiting for the perfect time to launch. The doctor had said they had only one chance.
The amount of blood mist bursting from the black crow was enormous, causing Shard to belatedly realize the Raven Man had reverted from crow to human form when reaching out to him.
"It’s now!"
This time, without any hesitation, Shard flicked the red glass bead, which penetrated the outstretched hand. In the next second, with the Ravenfolk’s piercing cries, blood-red flames burst from every pore of its body. Screaming, it swayed and then shockingly opened its arms again, lunging towards Shard.
The seriously injured demon knew it had to rid itself of the chain to escape, amidst the agony of its entire existence melting, it tried using the fire to burn Shard to death.
But Shard, possessing the Fire of the Primordial, was not afraid of this. Instead, reaching out to embrace the demon himself, they stumbled to the edge of the Bell Tower viewing platform, while two Great Sin Chains took the opportunity to tightly wrap both their bodies from the feet upwards. The flames, burning like the color of blood, indeed didn’t affect Shard:
"Doctor, quickly! I’ve got it locked!"
"No, I locked you!"
Before Dr. Schneider could reach them, the demon surrounded by flames toppled with Shard, pulling him as they fell off the tower.
At that moment, a familiar sensation surged into Shard’s heart, but the next second both crashed through the rainy sky above Moon Bay City, wrapped in flames like meteors, tilting towards the harbor.
"The detective succeeded! It can’t escape! It’s done this time!"
Excited, the doctor quickly reached the platform edge, leapt into the air, then transformed into a black light, similarly flying towards the harbor.
Emilia, holding the huge Light Sword, panted on the rainy balcony, blinking in confusion not understanding how everyone left so suddenly. Suddenly she heard familiar cries; her Little Unicorn emerged from behind, nudging her to sign her to quickly climb aboard and catch up.
Emilia shouted in delight, reaching to pat her best companion, even drenched its fur still felt great:
"Little Liana, so glad you’re fine... wait, you weren’t pretending just now, were you?"
She laboriously climbed onto Little Unicorn’s back, surrounding them with the sword’s glow, making it impossible for others to clearly see their detailed form.
Thus quickly, Emilia raised the gigantic white Light Sword, riding Little Unicorn off the top of Belindel Big Ben heading for the southern coastline.
Meanwhile, blocked by the Body in the Wall unable to reach the top, nor fly up, the Church’s Circle Sorcerers, although unable to clearly see the initial fireball and subsequent black light, quite clearly saw the humanoid form carrying a Light Sword and riding a unicorn-like creature flying away in the rain.
