Chapter 701: End of the Forest

The seasons changed and eleven months slipped away in the blink of an eye.

The allied army had been traveling nonstop for nearly a year, but they still had not reached the end of the Enchanted Woodlands.

At this moment, the army was camping beside a huge lake, their tents circling the entire lake area. Because of their presence, the animals and beasts were forced to find another water source.

Over the past few months, Alaric hadn’t neglected his daily missions. He had already saved up a considerable amount of attribute points, but he still didn’t distribute them. He planned to allocate them all at once when he saved up enough to max out all his attributes.

After checking his stats, Alaric closed the system screen.

"Are you done with your training?" A pleasant voice drifted into his ears.

He turned around and saw Yvanna holding a sleeping baby in her arms. She had recently given birth to their child, whom they named Ninim. The baby’s name was derived from the elven language which means little white flower.

Alaric looked at the baby girl whose talents weren’t inferior to her twin siblings.

Alaric nodded as he took the baby from her arms. "Yes. I just finished my training. How do you feel today?"

Yvanna smiled gently and replied. "With the elixirs I consumed, my body has mostly recovered. I should be back to my normal condition in another week’s time."

She didn’t possess Yskaela’s powerful physique, so when she gave birth to Ninim, a child with great destiny, her health deteriorated. She spent months in weakened condition and it was only recently that she began recovering well.

Alaric kissed her forehead and comforted her. "You should rest well."

"Mn."

While they were chatting, they saw a rider approaching the camp with an urgent expression.

Seeing this, Alaric excused himself and hurried to the rider.

This guy was one of the warriors they sent to scout the road ahead, a Heroic knight.

As soon as the rider arrived at the camp, he dismounted and rushed toward Alaric. "Lord, I bring great news!"

Alaric saw the excitement in the man’s face.

"Get this man a cup of water!" He gestured to a nearby warrior.

Alaric handed the cup of water to the exhausted warrior and said. "You can talk after you drink this."

"Thank you, my lord." The man didn’t stand on ceremony. He grabbed the cup and drank everything in one large gulp.

"Now tell me what you discovered."

The warrior didn’t let him wait. "We found the end of the Enchanted Woodlands!"

As soon as he said this, the nearby warriors were shocked.

"What?! Is that true?!"

"We have finally found the end of this damn forest!"

Everyone was excited.

Alaric wasn’t as excited as them for he already knew about this for quite some time. Bellator had recently informed him that they were close to reaching the outskirts of the seemingly endless forest.

He also knew what kind of place awaited them.

The warrior eagerly nodded. "This is true."

He did some calculations and added. "If we marched at the same pace, the great allied army should be there in another twenty days. If we increase our speed, we can even shorten that to twelve to fifteen days."

Hearing this, everyone exclaimed.

"Hahaha! We can finally leave this place!"

"Good!"

"That is wonderful news, brother!"

Alaric raised his hand, immediately silencing the crowd.

"Did you investigate the place beyond the forest?" He asked.

The warrior’s face turned serious as he nodded. "We have investigated the situation."

"There are no human settlements in the vicinity, but we found a lair of a powerful monster. It lives in a cave beneath a mountain..."

Alaric raised an eyebrow. "What kind of beast is it?"

"That we don’t know. We didn’t dare get close to the cave, but just its aura alone is enough to send all of us kneeling." The warrior replied with apprehension.

Everyone’s faces changed when they heard this. The man was A Heroic knight and the scouts who were sent together with him weren’t any weaker. For them to feel terrified by its mere aura alone proved that whatever monster lived in that cave was most definitely a formidable creature.

Alaric frowned.

Bellator hadn’t reported this to him which meant that the beast probably wouldn’t cause them any trouble. However, he still needed to confirm this matter.

Thinking about this, he waved his hand and dismissed the scout. "You may report this matter to the other leaders."

"Yes, my lord!" The warrior nodded and left right away.

Alaric didn’t linger and went to find Bellator’s tent.

"Lord Bellator, can I speak with you?"

The tent was silent for a moment before Bellator stepped out. The guy wasn’t wearing his battle armor and there were faint fluctuations of mana around him.

"I am sorry. Did I disturb your mana training?" Alaric apologized.

Bellator shook his head. "It is fine. There is no harm done. Anyway, what is it that you want to discuss with me, my lord?"

Alaric immediately told him about the scout’s report.

Bellator rubbed his chin.

"The monster is indeed quite powerful, but it shouldn’t be an issue. We just have to steer clear of its territory, but I will interfere in case it wakes up." He wasn’t certain whether the butterfly’s promise included the beast right outside the Enchanted Woodlands.

Alaric felt more assured by his words. "Since that is the case, I will leave this matter in your care."

"Rest assured. I will handle it carefully." Bellator nodded.

He had already detected the beast’s presence. It was a Calamity-grade beast that was slightly stronger than the behemoth he had slain. If it ended in a fight, he was confident that he could deal with it.
