Chapter 636 Lucas Feels Insignificant

Chapter 636  Lucas Feels Insignificant

After the empress left the mansion, Alaric immediately looked for his father.

“Dad, I have something to tell you. I think you should know about it.”

Lucas raised an eyebrow and inquired. “Is this related to what you discussed with Her Majesty?”

Alaric nodded. “That’s right…”

“Her Majesty said that she wants to marry me.”

Lucas who was sipping tea almost choked upon hearing this. “What did you say?”

“Her Majesty wants to marry you?” He was stunned, but when he recalled the empress’s actions over the past two years, it all began to make sense.

It turns out my suspicions were true. Lucas had already suspected that there was some motive behind the empress’s care.

Realizing that he had lost composure, he quickly adjusted his emotions. “How did you respond?”

Alaric shook his head and replied with a wry smile. “Her Majesty caught me off guard. How did you think I responded?”

Lucas sent him a glare. “So you rejected her?”

Alaric waved his hand. “Of course not. I would never dare reject Her Majesty. She gave me a few days to give her answer.”

Lucas tapped on the table while rubbing his temple. “Why does it have to be now when your mother just left Veronica?”

The father and son fell into a long silence. No one spoke for close to ten minutes. The two were immersed in their own thoughts, pondering on what they should do.

“Are you ready to become a father?” Lucas broke the silence with his question.

Alaric took a deep breath and shook his head. “I don’t know. I don’t think I would be a good father.”

“You know me, Dad. I only pursue strength.” He added.

Lucas snorted at his words. “Then when do you plan to give me a grandchild? When I can no longer stand up?”

He rolled his sleeves, ready to punch his son if he couldn’t give a good answer.

Seeing this, Alaric quickly raised his arm forward and pacified his father. “Relax, Dad.”

“If I marry Her Majesty, what would happen to our child? I don’t want to leave my child all alone.” He explained.

Lucas understood what he was trying to say and sighed. “So you intend to follow them to the Cangnan continent, huh?”

It was also his dream to journey across the vast continent, but he was already tied to Astania. He couldn’t leave just his territory.

Alaric nodded with a determined expression. “Yes. I just learned that the world is much bigger than what we know.”

“Someone told me that the Cangnan continent is one of the three largest continents of the world. I also learned that we Mythical Knights are but small cogs in the grand wheel of the world. There are higher, much stronger realms above us!”

When he said this, Lucas was stunned.

“Are there really realms above the Mythical Knight?”

Alaric smiled faintly, nodding his head. “That’s right. According to that person, the warrior classification in the vast world goes like this…”

Esquire (Knight Apprentice)

Gallant (Knight)

Champion (Elite Knight)

Heroic (Transcendent Knight)

Unfettered (Mythical Knight)

Beyonder (?)

Supreme (?)

Paragon (?)

Divinity (?)

Lucas felt incredibly insignificant when he heard of this. He thought that he was already a big shot now that he had become a duke of Astania.

“Who told you this?” He stared deeply at his son.

He already suspected someone, but he still decided to probe.

“It’s Lord Bellator. He hadn’t told me yet, but I think he has a significant background.” Alaric didn’t plan to hide this from his father.

Lucas revealed a ‘my guess was right’ look.

“No wonder you accepted him as your mentor. When you introduced him earlier, I thought you had sustained some brain damage during your fight with the cult leader.”

“Dad, don’t speak ill of Lord Bellator. He is much scarier than you think.” Alaric made a ‘shushing’ gesture as he warned his father with a nervous look.

Hearing this, Lucas immediately shut his mouth. He leaned forward and asked in a whispering tone. “How strong is he?”

Alaric lifted his finger to point it above the ceiling and replied in a grave tone. “Above the Unfettered realm.”

Bellator was only at the Unfettered realm now, but he was definitely more powerful during his prime. Alaric was certain of it.

Lucas took a deep breath, unable to hide his surprise.

“Then you’d better listen to him well. Following an expert like him will help you broaden your horizons.” He reminded his son.

“I know. I know.”

“We have diverged from the topic…”

“Give me some time to think about how I should respond to Her Majesty.” Alaric stood up and left, leaving his father who was still shocked from the revelation.

“I’m no genius at all. I’m just a mutt. How laughable.” Lucas laughed in a self-deprecating manner as he leaned on his seat with his eyes closed.

Alaric went to find Hershey and the other ladies to hear their opinion about the matter.

He searched around the mansion and found them in the garden playing with Gwenaelle.

“Alaric!”

“My lord!”

“Brother!”

Alaric spooned his little sister and gave her a kiss. “How are you doing my lovely little sister?”

“Tee-hee! I’m playing with the sisters. We are looking for colorful butterflies!” The little one eagerly responded.

Alaric chatted with his sister and teased her a bit before putting her down.

“Gwenaelle, let me borrow your big sisters for a while.”

The little girl pouted, her shoulders drooping, but she still nodded her head. “Fine, but make it quick.”

“Of course!” Alaric gestured at the maidservants.

Mathilda who was among the group of servants immediately stepped forward and gently grabbed Gwenaelle’s hand. “Little Miss, let me help you look for the colorful butterflies.”

Alaric gave her a grateful nod before he pulled Hershey and the others to a nearby pavilion.

“What’s going on?” Yvanna asked, staring at him suspiciously.

Hershey held his hand. “What is it? You can tell us anything.”

Elena didn’t say anything and just waited for him to speak.

Alaric looked at them and opened spoke.

“It’s about Her Majesty.”

“She said that she wants to marry me…
