Chapter 441: Renante’s Report
Chapter 441: Renante’s Report
“Once you have consumed all the fruits, report back to me immediately. The information you provide will be helpful so remember all the details.” Alaric instructed.
A month ago, he gathered a group of scholars and knowledgeable individuals to research the Purple Mist Tree. He felt that this spiritual tree had more to offer.
“I will compile everything that we will experience after we consume the fruits.” Renante volunteered for the task.
He was the smartest person in the group. Most of them hated reading or the idea of learning. The rest didn’t even know how to read and write.
“Alright. I will wait for your report. You may leave now.” Alaric dismissed them with a wave of his hand.
The young warriors stood up from their seats and bowed to him. After taking the wooden box, the group left.
“Can these fruits really help us advance to the Knight realm?” Rasmus asked while scratching his head.
He grew up in a small orphanage so he didn’t have much knowledge about spiritual plants. The things taught to him were only basic knowledge and arithmetic so he was completely clueless about high-level information like this.
“His Highness will never joke about something like this.” Renante calmly replied.
“We will know for sure after eating them.” Wolf chimed in.
“If we eat four of the fruits, there will be six left. Who should we give the remaining fruits to?” Aliya suddenly asked.
The group became silent as they pondered deeply.
There were many talented warriors in their batch so it was quite difficult to make a decision.
“We can’t be reckless about this. We must think carefully about who will get the remaining fruits.” Renante spoke.
“How about we go by strength?” Rasmus suggested.
“Strength is not the most important factor in determining someone’s potential.” Aliya glared coldly at him.
“I’m just expressing my opinion. There’s no need to glare at me like that…”
…
The next day, Alaric was in his study looking over the information on the warriors that he would take with him into war.
“Your Highness, is there a need for you to go that far?” Asked Mathilda who was massaging his back.
Hearing her words, Alaric put down the documents and turned his head to look at her. “What do you mean?”
Mathilda pointed at the documents and replied. “Why are you reading the basic information about these warriors? You’ve been at it since yesterday.”
Alaric leaned on his chair and let out a deep breath. The expression on his young face revealed an uncharacteristic depth that was far beyond his age.
“I want to know how these people lived so in case they meet a tragic fate on the battlefield, at least someone would remember who they were… Wouldn’t it be lonely to die without someone to remember you?”
Alaric’s voice trailed off.
Most of these warriors were peasants or refugees. They had no families or relatives. Some of them didn’t even have proper names.
Mathilda was stunned.
She thought that he would just brush off her question with a simple response, but Alaric’s answer blew her mind.
Is this something that someone of his age would say?
For an unknown reason, Mathilda felt that she wasn’t talking to a young prince, but an old warrior who had been through hell.
Celine who was listening at the sidelines was also surprised by his response.
“Why did you stop?” Alaric gestured to Mathilda to continue with the massage.
“Oh? Right…”
At this moment, they suddenly heard a series of knocks on the door.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Alaric sent Celine a knowing look.
Understanding his intentions, Celine nodded and went to open the door.
Creak.
Renante who was dressed in his training uniform, stepped inside the room, holding a piece of rolled parchment paper.
“Greetings, Your Highness. I’m here to give my report!”
Alaric stared deeply at him, a faint smile appearing on his lips.
“Oh?”
Look at this guy. It seems like the fruit worked well.
Renante [Knight] EXP: 1/500
Potential: A
Traits: Pain Tolerance: (A), Spear Mastery (A), Horseback Riding (C), Close Combat (C), Archery (E), Hunting (E), Tracking (F), Sixth Sense (F)
Strength: 66
Stamina: 60
Agility: 61
Vitality: 55
Endurance: 70
Mana: 30
His attributes are insanely high for a newly advanced Knight.
Alaric determined his raw attributes to be on par with the veteran Knights of the household who had years of experience.
Renante felt unusually nervous upon meeting his gaze. It felt as if his very soul was being laid bare.
“Your Highness, I have compiled what we experienced after consuming the Purple Mist Fruit.” He handed the parchment paper while saying this.
Alaric took the paper and read the contents quietly while gesturing at Renante to take his seat.
The latter didn’t dare disturb him and just silently waited as Alaric read the report.
At this moment, he noticed the woman behind Alaric looking at him with curious eyes.
He hurriedly looked away, afraid to be misunderstood.
A moment later, Alaric put down the parchment paper and smiled faintly. “Not bad. You wrote it well. It must have been difficult to compile all this information.”
Renante felt a wave of joy after hearing his compliments.
“It wasn’t that hard, Your Highness. I just had to note down what the others had felt during the advancement process. Well, they weren’t able to properly articulate their experiences, but it was easy to understand since I went through the same thing.”
“Is that so? It looks like you have a knack for this kind of task. Not bad. Keep it up.” Alaric chuckled.
Renante was the steadiest person of the cohort, but a simple compliment made him excited.
He is still young after all.
Alaric thought to himself.
“Gather the ten people who consumed the fruits and bring them to the training ground. I would like to see their progress myself.” He instructed.
Hearing this, Renante was pleasantly surprised.
He stood up and bowed his head deeply, saying. “I obey your commands!”
