The next day, before the sun had risen, Vulcan led the army to launch another attack on the outer defensive walls of the monster nest.
He brought a total of fifty thousand warriors. Half of them were cavalrymen, while the other half was a mix of infantrymen and ranged units.
Vulcan’s role was to gather the attention of the monsters. Once the focus was on his army, Garandel would lead another group to attack the other side of the outer walls.
This was the plan they had discussed yesterday, a two-pronged attack to divide the enemy’s forces.
At this moment, Alaric was in their camp watching the battle half a mile from his location.
With his powerful perception, he could see the situation clearly even without imbuing mana into his eyes.
“Do you think the Catastrophe-grade beasts will reveal themselves with this plan?” A voice drifted into his ears.

Looking at his son’s calm expression, Lucas smiled faintly. “You have become more dependable, son.”
Hearing this, Alaric smiled and shook his head. “I still have a lot to learn.”
An hour into the battle.
Just as Alaric had predicted, the monsters had focused their attention on Vulcan’s troops.
Just then, a signal was released to the sky.
It was a signal for Garandel’s troops to take action.
Leading a force of fifty thousand soldiers, Garandel attacked the northern side of the outer walls.
While he was watching the battle intently, Lucas asked. “What if those Catastrophe-grade beasts were to attack now?”
Alaric had already taken this into consideration. It was indeed possible for those beasts to reveal themselves to help the monsters defend the outer layers.
“Don’t worry, Dad. Zephyr is on standby for that reason.” He reassured his father.
“So you also calculated that, huh?” Lucas was pleased with his response.
Two hours into the battle, the outer walls were still going strong.
Surprisingly, the monsters managed to resist the two-pronged attack, but there were also signs of collapse in their formations.
Given the situation, their defenses were bound to fall apart in a few more hours. By then, both Vulcan’s and Garandel’s troops would be able to breach the outer walls.
“Are you going to sit out of today’s battle?” Lucas stared at his son.
Alaric let out a sigh and nodded. “I promised the survivors of the scouting team that I would wait for them.”
Hearing this, Lucas was taken aback. “I thought you were sending them back to the elven kingdom after fulfilling their task.”
“That was the plan, but…” Alaric shook his head helplessly.
“It appears that they had developed a deep grudge with those monsters. I can’t blame them. Watching your comrades die in front of you isn’t so easy to overcome no matter how hard you try to forget them…” His words trailed off.
Lucas noticed the fluctuations in his eyes. It was as if Alaric had also said those words for himself.
