Chapter 774: Chapter 771 Stir
Splash... splash...
Within the borders of the Dwarf Kingdom, a fifty-meter-long massive ship sailed slowly forward along a tributary of the Whispering River.
Mira, Dahlia, and Elisa stood at the bow of the ship, gazing toward the horizon ahead.
"How much longer until we reach the capital~" Mira rested her upper body on the ship’s railing; she was growing bored out of her mind staying on this vessel.
Her wings were fully grown now. Although she could occasionally fly out to get some fresh air, she didn’t dare to stray too far—they were in the Dwarf Kingdom, after all.
"According to the route provided by Durin, and given the speed of our ship, we should arrive at the capital in about two hours," Dahlia said, her eyes flickering as she looked at the utterly bored Mira with a faint smile on her lips.
It had been over a month and a half since they set sail from Sedona City. She was beginning to miss life back there, but she also felt a sense of excitement; this trip to the Deepstone Dwarf Kingdom would broaden her horizons.
She wasn’t sure if they would be able to accomplish their mission this time. After all, they were after the Deepstone dwarves’ iron ore, which was crucial to Sedona City’s development.
Right now, Sedona City needed a massive amount of iron for both equipping its soldiers and constructing its city walls. The Deepstone Kingdom’s abundant iron mines were exactly what Sedona City desperately needed.
No matter what, they had to secure an iron ore export partnership with the Deepstone capital this time.
Elisa tucked a strand of white hair behind her ear, revealing her elven ears, and said softly, "Two more hours. Just bear with it a little longer, we’re almost there."
"Alright, I’m going up to take a look." Mira straightened up and nodded helplessly before spreading her wings and taking flight, landing gracefully atop the ship’s mast.
This sight drew envious looks from everyone below. Having wings really did give one the freedom to be capricious.
Soon, two hours passed. Mira, who had been sitting on the mast, suddenly stood up. On the horizon to their front-left, a cluster of dark buildings appeared, jolting her awake.
"We’re here! I can see the Deepstone capital!" Mira shouted loudly, then spread her wings and glided down to the deck.
Hearing this, everyone’s spirits were lifted. After sailing for such a long time, anyone would be sick of it. Now that they were finally reaching their destination, they all perked up.
The massive ship began to slow down. Since they were coming with good intentions, they couldn’t approach too aggressively, lest they cause any unnecessary misunderstandings.
The ship slowly approached the harbor. As expected, dwarves were master builders and smiths. It was evident just from looking at the port’s architecture; it was far superior to the ports they had seen in other cities. Though, of course, it still couldn’t compare to Sedona City’s port.
The Deepstone capital’s port was massive, constructed entirely from piled stone bricks. There were many ships docked—at least three hundred or more. There were many humans at the port overseeing the loading and unloading of cargo, but the vast majority of the bustling figures were the diminutive dwarves.
"Wow! This ship is huge!!"
The dwarves on the docks, upon seeing such an enormous vessel, were already exclaiming in absolute shock.
A fifty-meter-long ship wasn’t something you saw every day. This put the dwarven knights stationed at the port on high alert.
"Lower the sails! Lower the sails!"
"Drop the anchor! Drop the anchor!"
The sailors’ shouts rang out as the massive anchor was dropped into the riverbed, splashing up a huge plume of water.
"Let’s go," Dahlia said softly, looking toward the Deepstone capital ahead. The battle of the merchants was about to begin.
Soon, Dahlia’s trio disembarked with over a dozen soldiers, along with seven or eight sailors. Each of them carried a chest containing the goods they would use as bargaining chips for this trip.
"May I ask who you are?" A dwarven knight stepped forward to inquire. They had to be vigilant. Just looking at the forged steel armor worn by these human knights was enough to tell them that these people were not ordinary; they might be envoys from some major nation.
But they were also quite puzzled, as they hadn’t received any news recently about envoys from a major nation arriving.
"We are merchants from Sedona City in the Siacan Kingdom. This is our clearance pass." Dahlia stepped forward and handed the parchment pass they had obtained at the border to the dwarven knight.
The dwarven knight took it and inspected it, finding no issues.
"We need to inspect your cargo. If everything is fine, you may enter the city." The dwarven knight returned the parchment pass to Dahlia. After receiving permission, he stepped forward to inspect the contents of the chests one by one.
Human merchants came to the capital to do business every day, but the arrival of a fifty-meter ship was what had put them on edge.
The dwarven knight ultimately found nothing wrong, and Dahlia’s group was cleared to pass.
No one blocked their path along the way. Especially upon seeing the dozen soldiers clad in forged steel armor and the incredibly luxurious clothing worn by Dahlia and the others, everyone assumed they were important figures.
After paying the docking and entrance fees, Dahlia and her group smoothly entered the Deepstone capital.
"So this is the capital of the Deepstone Kingdom!" Mira looked at the buildings ahead.
The buildings were neatly arranged but very short and low to the ground. The streets weren’t spacious either, completely incomparable to Sedona City.
"It’s not as nice as Sedona City," Elisa remarked quietly.
Indeed, compared to Sedona City’s environment, the Deepstone capital wasn’t great. But compared to other cities, it was actually quite decent. At the very least, there weren’t piles of feces everywhere, nor was there that nauseating, sour stench in the air.
"I didn’t expect the Deepstone capital to be so populated," Dahlia marveled. Walking down the street and looking down at the dwarves strolling about made her feel like a giant.
"I’m so hungry. Let’s go get something to eat first." Mira warily scanned their surroundings.
"Alright, let’s find a nice place. I imagine someone will come looking for us very soon," Dahlia chuckled lightly.
Elisa and Mira both nodded. News of their arrival—and perhaps what had transpired at the border port—had likely already reached the ears of the local nobles. Given the dwarves’ alcoholic nature, they would absolutely come seeking them out.
After asking a passerby for directions, the group arrived at the largest tavern in the Deepstone capital: the Iron Hammer Tavern.
The Iron Hammer Tavern was the finest tavern in the Deepstone capital, serving the best ale in the kingdom. As the largest tavern, it was also one of the few places capable of accommodating humans. After all, dwarven houses were generally not very large; aside from the Deepstone Royal Palace, very few buildings were suitable for humans.
Seeing Dahlia and her group’s attire, the staff at the Iron Hammer Tavern didn’t dare slack off. Assuming they were VIPs, they warmly welcomed the group inside.
Just as they sat down.
Dahlia waved her hand and ordered with the deep pockets of a wealthy merchant, "Bring us a serving of all your signature dishes."
"Yes, coming right up!" Hearing this, the dwarven waiter nodded profusely, retreating with a fawning smile on his face.
"Aren’t we drawing a bit too much attention?" Mira asked quietly. Her green eyes swept the room, noting that many people had already taken notice of them.
"It’s just a strategy, designed to catch the attention of those nobles," Dahlia said with a faint smile.
From one of the chests they had brought, she pulled out a bottle of Whispering Dawn, along with three crystal-clear glass cups.
"..." Elisa narrowed her eyes slightly. She knew Dahlia was about to stir up some trouble.
