Simply a beast.

Jiang Si didn’t pay attention to him, after all, such is the nature of blood relations.

If there’s no shared experiences, the feelings are just meaningless rubbish.

He just took his own money.

That cheap brother was too much of a nuisance on the side, so he gave him a slap; it’s not a big issue.

Bought some food, some clothes that his mother used to like, and a coat for himself—when he was young, his mom was annoying, always wanting Jiang Si to change clothes for her to see, she probably liked this sort of boring thing.

Sure enough, returning home, after changing into the coat, his mother’s cloudy eyes brightened.

She even sat up energetically and touched his face, "My son is so handsome."

Every time he changed clothes, she’d just say this one sentence over and over.

To put it simply, his mom wasn’t very educated; not only online novels, she also read few books.

And so the days passed by, his mother seemed to have endless things to say.

She spoke to him about how she once dreamt, dreaming of Jiang Si, in the dream Jiang Si committed suicide, and upon waking, she was frightened into a cold sweat; she spoke about how she promised Lu Ya that Jiang Si would marry Lu Ya, making her part of the Jiang Family.

She spoke of his father’s regrets on his deathbed, regretting the alchemy that ruined his body.

She mentioned that brother, who after having his own family, changed completely, not caring for either father or mother.

Although the brother never said it, his wife and her family all had opinions about the parents here.

The elderly sighed, saying too little bride price was given back then, making them unable to hold their heads high, even living together would mean enduring disdain.

After the father died, in the house over there, mother lived very unhappily, and very lonely, reminiscing about the old house they lived in.

Perhaps she wasn’t truly missing the old house; she was simply longing for home.

But after the father died, the mother never had a home again.

So came back here, living alone, not disturbing her brother again, and her brother never came to see her again.

The elderly don’t want to trouble the children, and indeed the children find the elderly to be a bother.

But, at least the funeral will be held.

Isn’t that enough?

Even if it might be delayed for some years.

Jiang Si occasionally responded to his mother’s rambling, sometimes feeling no need to respond, just quietly listening.

The elderly’s body deteriorated more and more, until eventually, she spoke less and less.

Consulted a doctor, it’s not a serious illness, just simple organ aging, her body functions gradually reaching their end.

Sometimes, Jiang Si would sit in the room, watching her the whole day, not speaking; the room was silent except for the sound of breathing.

Continuing the daily routine of bathing her, cleaning up her excrement; even though he bought a toilet seat, there were sometimes no way to deal with it at night.

Quietly listening to her breathing, weakening bit by bit.

"Son."

One day, the mother suddenly woke up and tried hard to grab his hand, squeezing hard, her withered hands hurting Jiang Si a bit, "Mom, wants to go up the hill, see the sea, is it possible? If not, never mind."

After saying those words, she breathed rapidly.

Jiang Si just lifted her up, "Let’s go."

Not very far, outside the city there was a hill, on the other side of the hill was the sea.

In the past, mother always said, when there’s time, we’ll go up the mountain to see the sea.

But in the end, Jiang Si actually never went with his mother.

Because he was always busy, always without time.

Dragging it out until now.

Took a car to the foot of the mountain, bought a wheelchair from a nearby shop.

But a wheelchair couldn’t go up, so Jiang Si carried his mother with one hand, and with the other hand grabbed the wheelchair and climbed.

As he walked along the road, it started to snow.

He recalled when his mother carried him out of his father’s Alchemy Room, laughing heartily, and his mother even sang him a song.

So Jiang Si reminisced and hummed the song from back then too.

His mother now only occasionally woke, most of the time she remained unconscious.

Carrying her while dragging the wheelchair, as they climbed halfway up the mountain, his mother suddenly woke and laughed hoarsely, "Oh dear, how does this snow keep slipping into my son’s neck."

Maybe because she was outside for fresh air, her words flowed much more smoothly.

"Son, stop carrying, carry mom on your back."

Jiang Si "Oh"-ed, though not understanding her fuss, but since the elderly liked it, he switched her to his back to carry.

"Mom is shielding you from the snow, hehe..."

Not sure what she remembered, his mother started chuckling to herself.

Jiang Si couldn’t help but laugh too.

The mountain wasn’t very high, just over a thousand meters, carrying his mother up didn’t tire him much; on a snowy day, there weren’t many people on the mountain path, so by the time he reached the top, almost no one was there.

A sudden expansive view lay before them, thousands of miles of sky spread out, snowflakes adorned the air, a few eagles circling high and screaming.

The back of the mountain faced the surging sea, swirling among the snowflakes, the sound of waves echoed through the mountains, melodic and ethereal.

Looking down, this world, majestic and beautiful.

As he just positioned the wheelchair, he heard his mom, usually low-spirited, mimic an eagle’s call.

This left Jiang Si momentarily stunned.

"Haha, son, you call out too, at the mountaintop, scream, you’ll feel good."

The wind was strong, her mother spoke forcefully, Jiang Si placed his mother in the wheelchair and called out.

"The voice is too small, not even as good as your old mom."

His mother laughed like a little child.
