I smiled.

That was definitely going to be good news. But then, how the heck was I even supposed to get it.

I stopped with my hand hovering over the system, but the moment my finger made contact with it, the screen blinked.

The sudden flash almost startled me.

I paused for a moment as I read through the message again.

Plus ten Life Energy. The fuck was that?

I thought for a moment, but then a thought hit me.

I’d read enough web novels to know that you shouldn’t exactly doubt a system reward until you’d understood it completely. So...

"System, what exactly is life energy?" I said.

A notification screen popped up almost immediately.

[Well, explaining it in layman’s terms would mean diving into the specifics of the field.]

Several translucent windows appeared before my eyes.

I stared at the numbers for a moment.

Wow.

Everything was already at 100/100.

That was honestly pretty convenient.

Strength, speed, stamina... all maxed out from the beginning.

I couldn’t complain about that.

It meant I probably wouldn’t have to worry about getting beaten up by some random guy just because the plot decided I needed character development.

Still, my eyes eventually settled on the only number that wasn’t maxed out.

Huh.

That was pretty low.

I tilted my head slightly.

Forty?

For an S-Rank ability, I’d expected something a little more impressive.

The System responded almost immediately.

There was a brief pause.

Then another message appeared.

I raised an eyebrow.

Remarkable?

At least the System knew how to appreciate talent.

Another notification appeared.

[The player’s physical foundation is considerably stronger than that of an ordinary human.]

I couldn’t help smiling slightly.

Then the System continued.

[Life Energy determines how much mana the player can use when performing an action, including transferring Life Energy, utilizing abilities, enhancing the body, or engaging in combat.]

[Life Energy consumption ranges from 1/10 to 10/10 depending on the action performed.]

My expression became slightly more serious.

So that was the catch.

Forty wasn’t exactly a huge reserve.

And if every ability could drain it, I’d have to be careful.

I frowned.

The System immediately responded.

[However, there is no need for excessive worry.]

[The player’s current physical parameters are exceptional.]

I paused.

Exceptional?

The System was really laying it on thick.

Still, I wasn’t going to argue with it.

Then another message appeared.

My smile faded slightly.

My eyes widened.

Now that was a problem.

"Then what happens when I use all forty?"

[The player will be unable to utilize Life Energy-dependent abilities until the reserve is increased.]

I stared at the message.

So I had a ridiculously powerful ability with a ridiculously small fuel tank.

Wonderful.

"Then how do I increase it?"

The answer appeared immediately.

[Complete Taboo Tasks.]

[Each completed Taboo Task will provide additional rewards, including an increase to the player’s Life Energy.]

I nodded slowly.

At least there was a solution.

Then another notification appeared.

[Current Strength, Speed, and Stamina values cannot be increased through ordinary means.]

I raised an eyebrow.

[However, their maximum limits can be expanded indefinitely by completing the Unholy Taboo Challenge.]

Unholy Taboo Challenge?

I leaned forward slightly. Now that sounded interesting.

For someone who had already started with three maxed-out physical stats, raising the ceiling sounded considerably more appealing than raising the numbers themselves.

"What is the Unholy Taboo Challenge?"

The System remained silent for a moment.

Then a new window appeared.

Then the System provided the answer.

[Even when the player is absent, a residual longing may remain.]

[This effect can gradually increase Taboo Resonance.]

I blinked.

Then smiled.

More good news.

So even when I wasn’t around, the ability could continue working in the background.

That was convenient.

Really convenient.

I leaned back slightly, feeling my mood improve even further.

Fuck.

I’d actually gotten lucky.

No...

Lucky wasn’t quite the right word. With a System like this, maybe I really was blessed.

And so that left me thinking, which one of those sluts should I toy with next?
