Starting As A Perverted Step-son With an SSS-Rank Talent
Chapter 38 Getting Busted At The Wrong Time!
My eyes absentmindedly scanned through the horizon and I caught the movement of one of the Fang Hound which was surprisingly still breathing.
Its hind leg had been badly mangled by one of my kicks, leaving it sprawled helplessly on the ground. It continued gasping, struggling to move as I casually approached.
I stopped in front of it and looked down.
The beast rolled onto its side, its eyes fixed on me. Its growls grew increasingly louder, as though it still had some fight left in it.
Well, that was admirable.
I raised my leg, preparing to put an end to its suffering.
But just before I could bring my foot down, something unexpected happened.
I felt a presence appear directly behind me.
My eyes widened slightly.
Huh?
I hadn’t sensed it approaching at all.
Another wolf? Had something actually managed to slip past my senses?
Before I could finish the thought, an enormous attack came crashing down from behind.
Fortunately, my reaction was quick enough.
I immediately leapt out of the way, and the beast’s attack slammed directly into the dying Fang Hound, splattering its body across the ground.
I landed a short distance away and turned to face my unexpected visitor.
Now, this was interesting.
It looked like a Fang Hound. At least, that was the closest thing I could compare it to.
Unlike the others, however, this one stood upright on two legs. Its enormous body was covered in thick fur, with several bones protruding from its rib cage, forming something that resembled a collection of jagged fangs.
Its actual fangs were equally monstrous.
The creature stood at least twenty feet tall, making it considerably larger than the other beasts. Its overall appearance was almost humanoid, although that hardly made it any less monstrous.
One of its eyes was completely white, with a scar running across it, while the other retained its normal appearance.
It glared down at me.
Just then, a system notification appeared.
System: Alpha Fanghound. B-Rank. Level 10.
I glanced at the notification.
B-Rank? Level 10?
A smile slowly crept across my face.
Now, this was more like it.
Finally, something that looked capable of giving me a decent fight.
Although, there was one thing I couldn’t quite understand.
How had it managed to conceal its presence from my senses?
I hadn’t detected it until it was practically standing behind me. That was rather unusual.
I considered the possibility for a moment before shrugging.
Well, whatever. I could figure that out later.
For now, I had a new opponent to entertain me.
However, just as I was preparing to make my move, the beast slowly raised one of its enormous hands.
I immediately sensed mana surging around it.
The creature brought its hands together, and a powerful wave of energy began spreading throughout the surroundings.
Then something strange happened.
The corpses of the Fang Hounds scattered across the forest floor began moving.
I raised an eyebrow as their bodies slowly lifted from the ground. Severed limbs reconnected, shattered bones pieced themselves together, and torn flesh began regenerating.
One after another, the beasts I had slaughtered began returning to their original forms.
Oh?
I watched the spectacle unfold, momentarily surprised.
So it could bring the dead back to life?
"...Not a chance."
Yeah, I wasn’t about to let that happen.
I immediately pushed off the ground and launched myself into the air.
Below me, the Alpha’s gaze followed my movement while the countless Fang Hounds continued materializing.
I extended one finger towards the gathering beasts.
"Three percent."
Energy began surging towards my fingertip, rapidly condensing into a concentrated mass.
A grin spread across my face.
"Let’s see how much you can take, big guy."
I released the energy.
I had tried to keep its output at approximately three percent, roughly the same amount I had used on the district.
At first, it shot downward like an ordinary projectile.
But the moment it reached the forest, everything changed.
An enormous mass of energy erupted from the impact, swallowing everything in its path.
BOOOOOOM!
The entire forest vanished beneath the blast.
Trees, rocks, and everything within its range were consumed by the overwhelming explosion. The landscape was completely obliterated, leaving behind nothing but a vast, desolate expanse.
Even the surrounding ground had been reduced to a scorched wasteland.
I watched the destruction from above.
Well, that should take care of the crowd.
In a single attack, I had evaporated the entire forest. I squinted slightly.
Shit. Maybe I had overdone it a little.
I slowly descended, landing on what was now a completely levelled landscape. There was practically nothing left.
The entire forest had been reduced to ashes, with only a few blackened silhouettes remaining to indicate what had once stood there.
Yeah, I had definitely gone a little overboard.
Still, as I scanned the area, I noticed something moving in the distance.
I narrowed my eyes.
Oh?
I began walking towards it, curious to see what had survived my attack.
The closer I got, the more its appearance became apparent.
It was an ashen figure, barely managing to sit upright as it struggled to draw breath. Its body was horribly disfigured, with exposed bones and several parts that had been completely reduced to ash.
Honestly, I could barely recognize what I was looking at.
However, a system notification appeared beside the creature.
[System: Target identified — B-Rank Fang Hound.]
I glanced at the notification.
Really?
A B-Rank couldn’t even withstand three percent of my power?
I scratched my head, looking down at the pitiful creature.
What a disappointment.
I had genuinely expected something more interesting. At the very least, I thought it would survive long enough to give me a decent fight.
"Ah, I guess I really did overdo it."
I sighed.
Why did I have to go with a one-hit attack?
Well, there was no point regretting it now.
I casually walked over to the creature, raised my leg, and kicked its head clean off its neck.
Its body collapsed a moment later.
[System: Congratulations! You have slain the B-Rank Fang Hound.]
[System: Dungeon Boss successfully eliminated.]
[System: Reward acquired — ×1 Gacha Spin.]
I paused.
Then my eyes lit up.
Oh?
Finally!
So killing the dungeon boss was what triggered the reward?
I couldn’t help smiling.
A Gacha Spin!
Now, that was something worth getting excited about.
I had already started wondering what I might get. There were so many possibilities, and I was particularly curious about the kind of rewards the system had available.
Would it be another ability? Perhaps some kind of special item? Or maybe something even more interesting?
I was practically itching to find out.
However, before I could even ask the system to display the available rewards, another notification abruptly appeared.
System: Emergency Alert! Unidentified activity detected at the entrance to the player’s room.
My smile slowly disappeared.
I raised an eyebrow.
What the fuck?
Someone was trying to enter my room?
Wait.
My room?
I stared at the notification for a moment before another thought suddenly crossed my mind.
Hold on. Had someone already gone inside?
My eyes widened.
Shit!
What about the gate?
The gate was still wide open, right in front of my closet!
I felt my expression change.
Oh, fuck.
