Started with a 10,000x Multiplier in a Game World
Chapter 261: The Immortal Army, A Berserker Frenzy
The white sandy shores of Moonlight Lake were a chaotic, golden blur of unkillable aggression.
Aegis Vanguard had completely abandoned all semblance of traditional, organized raid tactics. The fifty thousand players weren't maintaining shield walls, monitoring threat generation, or carefully managing their defensive cooldowns.
They were just swarming.
"Get its leg! Chop its leg!" a warrior screamed, wildly hacking at the massive, granite-like shin of a towering Titan Ape.
The Level 65 Super-Divine beast roared in frustration, bringing its massive, tree-trunk-sized arm down in a devastating sweep. The blunt-force trauma hit the warrior and a dozen other players, dealing massive physical damage.
[-14,500 HP!]
The warrior's health bar plummeted into the critical red zone. He was thrown backward, skidding violently across the sand.
Two seconds later, a brilliant pulse of silver starlight washed over him.
[+15,000 HP!]
The warrior popped right back up, his health bar completely restored to maximum, and immediately sprinted back into the fray, his broadsword raised.
"You can't kill me, you overgrown monkey!" the warrior laughed hysterically.
This scenario was repeating itself thousands of times across the entire beachfront.
Dante stood casually near the water's edge, his arms crossed over the dark purple plating of his [Evil Spirit Armor]. He wasn't swinging a sword. He wasn't tracking cooldowns.
He was managing the flow of the entire battlefield by simply standing still.
He had equipped a very basic, entirely unspectacular skillbook he had looted days ago.
[Item Appraised: Skillbook - Divine Recovery]
[Tier: Master]
[Description: The user channels ambient holy mana to heal a target for 30% of their Maximum HP and grants a temporary 50% damage reduction buff. Casting Time: 2 Seconds. Mana Cost: High. Cooldown: 15 seconds.]
Normally, it was a solid, single-target heal used by dedicated clerics to save a dying tank in a dungeon. It was expensive to cast and had a long cooldown.
For Dante, it was a spammable area-of-effect execution denial.
[Skill Executed: Divine Recovery.]
The anomaly in his code triggered instantly.
[Talent Activated: 10,000x Multiplier.]
[Registering 10,000 flawless executions.]
The combat enlightenment was fundamentally different from the raw, aggressive power of [Asura's Descent] or the spatial manipulation of [Phantom Dash]. Dante's neural link flooded with the absolute, profound understanding of systemic restoration. He learned how to instantly rewrite damaged localized code, forcing the server to recognize a wounded avatar as perfectly healthy. He understood how to weave localized barriers of pure, raw data that aggressively rejected incoming kinetic force.
[Divine Recovery has reached Zenith tier.]
[Skill Evolution Triggered.]
[Divine Recovery has evolved into: Absolute Restoration.]
The system interface flashed a brilliant, blinding white.
[Absolute Restoration (Zenith)]
[Description: The ultimate expression of localized survival. The user instantly heals up to 100 targeted allied entities within a 1,000-foot radius for 30% of their Maximum HP and grants a 50% damage reduction buff for 10 seconds. Cooldown: None (Chrono-Shift Active). Mana Cost: None (Chrono-Shift Active).]
Dante didn't just cast it once.
He turned himself into a fully automated, localized healing battery.
He systematically selected grid squares across the massive battlefield, targeting clusters of players who were taking heavy area-of-effect damage from the Titan Apes.
*Pulse.*
A brilliant flash of white light enveloped a group of a hundred rogues who had been swatted out of the air by a massive ape. Their health bars instantly spiked, and a glowing white shield icon appeared over their heads.
*Pulse.*
Another flash of light hit a group of mages caught in the splash damage of a corrupted fireball, instantly erasing the burn debuffs and restoring their health.
*Pulse. Pulse. Pulse.*
Dante rapidly spammed the Zenith-tier heal, chaining the casts back-to-back without spending a single drop of mana.
Combined with Aura's continuous, massive 50% max-health [Resurgence Wave] pulses and the 60% damage reduction from her [Ultimate Guardian Halo], the Aegis Vanguard army was mathematically immortal.
The twenty Titan Apes were trapped in a localized hell of attrition.
The Level 65 Super-Divine bosses possessed thirty million health points each. They were designed to slowly, agonizingly grind down a massive raid group, outlasting their healing supplies and forcing a wipe through sheer endurance.
Instead, the apes were the ones being ground down.
Fifty thousand players, completely unburdened by the fear of death, were dealing constant, relentless chip damage. Every single sword swing, every single arrow, every single low-tier fireball slowly ate away at the massive health pools.
"They're dropping!" Sera yelled over the guild comms, monitoring the combat logs from a safe distance near the jade pavilion. "Focus fire on the eastern flank! Target Ape Number Four! Bring it down!"
The guild responded with terrifying coordination. Thousands of mages synchronized their casting, unleashing a massive, overlapping volley of frost and fire magic directly onto the targeted Titan Ape.
The beast roared in fury, attempting to smash the casters, but the sheer volume of overlapping damage completely overwhelmed its physical mitigation.
[-OVERKILL!]
The massive, fifty-foot-tall ape violently exploded into a mountain of blue and silver polygons, instantly deleted from the server.
A massive cheer erupted from the Aegis Vanguard players.
"One down! Nineteen to go!" Casanova roared, picking up a smaller, corrupted hound and hurling it directly at another ape's head.
"This is taking too long," Mei complained, hoisting the [God-Slaying Skillet]. "Boss, can I please just smash them?"
"Let the guild work, Mei," Dante replied calmly, pulsing another [Absolute Restoration] to heal a group of overzealous warriors. "They need the experience. And they need to learn how to fight without relying on me to one-shot everything."
High above the battlefield, Jack watched the first Titan Ape fall.
The Demon Lord of Illusion City slowly stood up from his floating obsidian throne. The pristine, immaculate black suit he wore didn't ripple in the wind; it seemed to actively devour the ambient light.
His sadistic, mocking smile was completely gone.
"This is unacceptable," Jack hissed, his voice devoid of the theatrical echo, replaced by a cold, mechanical tone of a system administrator realizing the parameters were failing.
Jack raised his pale hand, accessing the localized developer tools granted to him by the Arch-Administrator.
He pulled up the combat logs, analyzing the data streams flowing from the battlefield.
He didn't look at the fifty thousand players hacking at his siege beasts. He ignored the mages and the tanks.
His eyes locked entirely onto Dante.
The system overlay highlighted the anomaly in blinding, aggressive red static. It showed Dante rapidly chaining Zenith-tier healing spells with zero cooldowns and zero mana cost. It showed the localized [Aetherial Nectar] buff granting absolute immunity, and the [Frost-God Constitution] heavily mitigating environmental factors.
Jack realized the fundamental truth of the engagement.
The army wasn't unkillable because they were strong. They were unkillable because the anchor holding them together was fundamentally, mathematically broken.
"If the root is severed, the branches wither," Jack murmured, his pale eyes narrowing.
He didn't order the remaining corrupted hounds to swarm Dante. He didn't command the Titan Apes to redirect their aggro. Standard mobs, even Super-Divine entities, were entirely useless against an anomaly that could casually parry an orbital strike.
Jack needed to handle the execution personally.
He tapped his administrative interface, initializing a targeted, localized override protocol.
"I will isolate the variable," Jack declared, stepping to the very edge of his floating obsidian throne. "I will delete the code. And I will enjoy the silence that follows."
The Demon Lord didn't cast a massive, flashy spell. He didn't summon a black hole or drop a meteor shower.
He simply vanished from the throne.
He didn't use a standard teleport. He used an admin-level coordinate swap, instantly overriding the game's spatial physics to overwrite his location.
Down on the beach, Dante's Intuition stat didn't ping. It violently flatlined.
The ambient noise of the massive battle—the roars of the apes, the clashing of steel, the shouted orders—didn't fade. It was instantly, flawlessly muted.
Dante realized he wasn't standing on the white sand anymore.
He was standing in a perfectly square, featureless room made entirely of smooth, polished black glass. The ceiling was low, the walls were close, and there were no doors or windows.
He was completely alone.
He checked his party interface. The icons for Sera, Lila, Mei, and Casanova were all greyed out, displaying a 'Connection Lost' error. Aura, who had been hovering above him just a millisecond ago, was gone, forcefully desummoned back into her pet space.
"A localized quarantine zone," Dante noted calmly, looking around the black glass box.
"An administrative sandbox, actually," a voice corrected him smoothly.
Dante turned around.
Jack was standing a few feet away, brushing an invisible speck of dust off his immaculate black suit. The Demon Lord looked completely relaxed, offering a polite, chillingly formal smile.
"You have caused a tremendous amount of localized systemic instability, Dan," Jack said, his voice echoing cleanly off the black glass. "The Arch-Administrator is incredibly displeased with your continuous, unauthorized manipulation of the physics engine. I have been authorized to manually format your account data."
Dante didn't draw [Voidsever]. He didn't drop into [Asura's Descent].
He knew exactly what kind of fight this was going to be. Jack wasn't a standard boss with a massive health bar and telegraphed attack patterns. Jack was a proxy holding developer tools. He would use un-dodgeable deletion commands, infinite health regeneration, and reality-warping attacks.
"You think trapping me in a box is going to save you?" Dante asked, resting his hand casually on the hilt of the [Dawn-Breaker Blade].
"I think it removes your annoying little safety nets," Jack smirked. "Your pet is gone. Your guild is outside. You cannot rely on infinite healing or localized invulnerability domes in here."
Jack raised his pale hand, his fingers glowing with intense, aggressive green digital static.
"In this room," Jack promised, the sadistic glee returning to his voice, "the math is exactly what I say it is."
Before Jack could snap his fingers to execute the first deletion command, the solid black glass ceiling above them violently groaned.
It didn't shatter into physical shards. It cracked like brittle ice, a massive, jagged fissure tearing across the localized administrative code.
Intense, blinding blue light and raw, absolute-zero frost poured through the crack.
Jack's confident smile completely vanished. He stumbled backward, staring up at the ceiling in absolute, unfiltered shock.
"What?!" Jack shrieked, his voice cracking. "That is an admin-level partition! Nothing can breach that code!"
The crack violently expanded, completely blowing the roof off the black glass box.
A figure dropped through the opening, landing heavily between Dante and the Demon Lord.
The air in the room instantly flash-froze.
It was Victoria.
