Chapter 252: The Thunderous Escape, A Desperate Evacuation
Dante sheathed [Voidsever], the massive black blade dissolving into smoke and retreating into the brand on his wrist.
The command tent was a localized slaughterhouse. Dozens of piles of gray dust and dropped high-tier gear littered the dirt floor, surrounding the spot where Raijin had been executed.
"Dante," Seren whispered, her voice trembling. The Princess was staring at the doorway of the tent, her eyes wide with terror. "The alarms."
Dante didn’t need to listen closely. A harsh, aggressive, high-pitched mechanical siren was blaring across the entire Storm-Mane encampment. The death of the Clan Leader hadn’t just triggered a localized hostility shift; it had activated a massive, systemic defense protocol.
[Zone Alert: Storm-Mane Encampment]
[Warning: Clan Leader Assassinated. Absolute Lockdown Initiated.]
Dante immediately felt the air pressure inside the tent spike. It wasn’t the crushing weight of a gravity spell. It was the distinct, oppressive hum of a massive, localized suppression array activating.
He triggered [Blink Step] to quickly move to the entrance of the tent.
[Error: Spatial displacement failed. Lockdown Array Active.]
He stumbled slightly as the skill failed to execute. He materialized exactly where he started.
"They locked the coordinates," Dante muttered, his eyes narrowing.
He walked to the ripped flaps of the command tent and looked outside.
The pristine white tents and orderly pathways of the encampment were completely gone. In their place was absolute chaos. Thousands of heavily armored, lion-fey hybrid warriors were pouring out of the barracks, their silver halberds crackling with localized lightning magic.
They weren’t just searching for an intruder. They were actively forming a massive, incredibly dense shield wall around the command tent, completely trapping Dante, Seren, and Erebus inside.
But it wasn’t the army that made Dante pause.
Towering above the wooden palisades of the encampment, glowing with intense, blinding blue light, were four massive, intricately carved wooden totems.
[System Identification: Guild-Level Lockdown Array (Lightning)]
[Description: A massive, un-breachable localized cage. The array aggressively targets all unauthorized entities within the perimeter, dealing continuous, extreme lightning damage and completely disabling all forms of teleportation, flight, and spatial shifting.]
The blue light radiating from the totems didn’t just illuminate the camp. It violently arched, connecting the four totems in the sky, forming a massive, crackling dome of pure, concentrated lightning over the entire outpost.
"A lightning cage," Dante noted calmly.
It was the exact same tactical scenario he had faced in the Crimson Canyon when Vane dropped the [Impregnable Scroll] over the army. The system was trying to box him in and force him into a mathematically impossible war of attrition.
"We are trapped!" Seren cried out, shrinking away from the entrance as a stray bolt of lightning struck the dirt just outside the tent, instantly glassing the soil. "If we step outside, the lightning will incinerate us! My magic is still sealed! I can’t protect us!"
Dante didn’t look worried.
He didn’t draw the [Dawn-Breaker Blade] to fight his way out. He didn’t activate [Asura’s Descent] to try and tank the lightning dome with his massive health pool. He knew the continuous damage of a Guild-Level array would eventually bleed through his invulnerability frames, and he couldn’t guarantee Seren’s survival in the crossfire.
"We aren’t walking out," Dante said smoothly, turning away from the tent entrance.
He opened his inventory.
He bypassed his weapons and his massive stacks of high-tier restorative potions. He was looking for the specific, Holy-Forbidden artifact he had extorted from Grandmaster Jian in the Mists of Carnage.
He pulled out the dark gray, jagged piece of rock.
[Item Appraised: Spatial Stone]
[Tier: Holy-Forbidden]
[Description: A localized fragment of the original server architecture. Grants the user unlimited, instant teleportation to any previously visited coordinate on the global map. Bypasses all localized suppression fields and lockdown arrays. Cooldown: None.]
"A systemic lockdown only works against standard player skills," Dante explained, showing the stone to the terrified Princess. "This isn’t a skill. It’s a developer backdoor."
Seren stared at the stone, recognizing the immense cosmic weight radiating from the artifact. "You can bypass the cage?"
"I can bypass the entire continent if I want to," Dante smirked.
He looked at Erebus. The Half-Soul Celestial was currently digging through her massive, Mythic-tier backpack, entirely unbothered by the fact that thousands of heavily armed guards were currently preparing to storm the tent.
"Erebus," Dante ordered. "Get back in the pocket space."
Erebus looked up, her solid red eyes blinking slowly. She didn’t argue. She tapped the heavy leather strap of her backpack, and a small, localized spatial rift tore open beside her. She stepped through the rift, vanishing from the physical world, waiting comfortably in her pocket dimension.
Dante turned to Seren.
"Grab my arm," Dante commanded. "Do not let go."
Seren didn’t hesitate. She lunged forward, wrapping both of her small hands tightly around the dark purple plating of his gauntlet.
Dante didn’t try to visualize a specific coordinate inside the capital city of Aethelgardia. He needed to get them out of the encampment, but he still needed to reach Radiant Lake to complete the SSS-Rank escort quest.
He thought about the deep, dense, unmapped sections of the Mirage Mire they had traversed before finding the outpost.
He focused his intent on a specific, isolated patch of frozen mud he had created earlier with [Glacial Epoch].
"Let’s go," Dante said.
He crushed the dark gray [Spatial Stone] in his left gauntlet.
The artifact didn’t shatter into pieces. It dissolved instantly into a swirling vortex of deep gray energy that completely enveloped Dante and the Princess.
Outside the tent, the Storm-Mane guards finally breached the perimeter.
Dozens of elite, lion-fey warriors charged through the ripped flaps of the command tent, their silver halberds raised, ready to execute the anomaly who had murdered their Clan Leader.
They rushed into the room, roaring in fury.
They found nothing but a massive pile of gray dust, a shattered oak table, and absolute, empty silence.
The gray vortex collapsed, cleanly slicing Dante and Seren out of the localized server partition in a fraction of a millisecond.
The transition was violent, ripping them through the server architecture at terrifying speed, entirely ignoring the massive, crackling dome of lightning attempting to hold them inside the camp.

Dante and Seren materialized in a blinding flash of gray light, hitting the ground hard.
Dante’s heavy iron boots cracked against solid, frozen mud. He immediately drew the [Dawn-Breaker Blade], dropping into a low defensive stance, his Intuition stat scanning the area for immediate threats.
He stood up slowly.
They were back in the deep Mirage Mire.
The environment was pitch black. The golden sky of the late afternoon had completely vanished, replaced by the dense, oppressive darkness of the swamp at night. The glowing blue moss provided the only illumination, casting long, eerie shadows across the twisted willow trees.
The air was freezing cold. The localized area of permafrost Dante had created earlier was still entirely intact, providing a solid, stable island in the middle of the toxic, gravity-pulling mud.
[Zone Alert: The Deep Mire (Night Cycle)]
[Hazard Detected: Severe Systemic Deterioration. Aggressive Nocturnal Fauna Active.]
Dante dismissed his sword. He didn’t see any immediate threats on the ice.
He looked down at Seren.
The Princess was sitting on the frozen mud, shivering violently. She wasn’t just cold; she was experiencing severe digital shock from the violent, un-buffered spatial transition.
"Aura," Dante whispered via the pet interface.
The tiny Grade 8 Mystic Sovereign popped out of her pocket dimension, floating down to hover gently over Seren. She pulsed her [Ultimate Guardian Halo], the warm, 200-foot dome of pure starlight instantly washing over the Princess.
The shivering stopped. Seren let out a long, shuddering sigh of relief, her health bar fully stabilizing.
"We... we escaped," Seren breathed, looking around the dark swamp in absolute disbelief. "You bypassed a Guild-Level lockdown array. Without chanting. Without drawing a weapon."
"I told you," Dante said, offering her a hand up. "I play by my own rules."
Seren took his gauntlet, letting him pull her to her feet. She dusted off her tattered silver dress, looking at the towering, gold-armored Outworlder with a mixture of profound awe and deep, localized respect.
"Raijin betrayed us," Seren whispered, the reality of the situation finally setting in. "The Storm-Manes were our most loyal clan. If they have fallen to the Arch-Administrator’s corruption, then my mother is completely alone at Radiant Lake."
"Then we need to move," Dante stated, checking his digital map. "How far is the lake from these coordinates?"
Seren looked into the dark, tangled woods. "It is perhaps five miles to the east. But Dante... the Mire at night is incredibly dangerous. The system applies massive environmental buffs to the nocturnal predators. They are completely immune to standard crowd control, and their aggression ranges are doubled."
Dante didn’t look worried. "I don’t use standard crowd control."
He didn’t wait for her to argue. He activated [Dragon’s Insight], his vision shifting to the analytical grid to ensure they didn’t wander off the solid permafrost and back into the gravity mud.
"Stay inside the halo," Dante ordered, leading the way into the dark. "If anything jumps out of the trees, don’t scream. Just duck."
They walked in silence for thirty minutes.
The swamp was incredibly eerie at night. The constant, aggressive screeching of digital static that plagued the area during the day was gone, replaced by absolute, heavy silence.
Dante kept his hand resting casually on the hilt of his sword. He didn’t like the silence. In the Zenith Protocol, silence usually meant something massive was actively hunting you.
His Intuition stat finally pinged.
It wasn’t a sudden, sharp spike. It was a slow, creeping sensation of being completely, flawlessly surrounded.
"Stop," Dante murmured, raising a hand.
Seren froze instantly, pressing her back against a frozen tree trunk.
Dante didn’t turn his head, but his eyes darted across the dark tree line.
Slowly, silently, dozens of massive, glowing silver eyes appeared in the dense brush surrounding the frozen clearing.
They weren’t crocodiles or corrupted hounds.
Massive, heavily muscled wolves stepped out of the shadows. They were easily the size of rhinos, their fur a brilliant, luminescent silver that actively absorbed the ambient light of Aura’s dome.
[Monster Spawn: Silver-Moon Fenrir]
[Tier: Dark Demon]
[Level: 60]
[HP: 120,000 / 120,000]
"Silver-Moon Fenrirs," Seren gasped, her voice trembling. "They are the apex predators of the deep swamp. They hunt in massive packs, and their nocturnal buffs make them practically invincible."
Dante evaluated the system prompts.
[Night Cycle Buff Active: Stats Doubled. Absolute Immunity to Stun, Silence, and Gravity effects.]
"Double stats," Dante noted. "And immune to crowd control."
The pack didn’t roar. They slowly tightened their circle, their silver eyes locked onto Dante.
From the absolute center of the pack, a single, incredibly massive wolf stepped forward. It was twice the size of the others, its fur glowing with an intense, blinding white light.
[Zone Boss Spawn: Fenrir Emperor]
[Tier: Celestial]
[Level: 60]
[HP: 5,000,000 / 5,000,000]
The Emperor didn’t attack immediately. It stared at Dante, evaluating the cosmic weight radiating from the anomaly.
"Well," Dante sighed, drawing the [Dawn-Breaker Blade]. "I guess we aren’t sneaking the rest of the way."
