Chapter 4134: What Kind Of Ridiculous Question Is That?
Chapter 4134: What Kind Of Ridiculous Question Is That?
Greater Sancte Blood Tower felt satisfied with Kang Tian’s dazed reaction, and he slowly said, “Now that I’m here, Lan Meng is mine. I wasn’t nearly satisfied with my fight with Qi Xu back then.”
“I severely injured Lan Meng. It should not be returning anytime soon,” Greater Sancte Green Lotus stated. He had not yet shared an account of the recent events with Greater Sancte Blood Tower. The man had only heard Kang Tian’s last words as he arrived.
Greater Sancte Blood Tower was surprised. “You badly wounded Lan Meng? How did you fight him? Obscura always keep their faces hidden, refusing to fight anyone directly.”
“I’ll tell you later,” Greater Sancte Green Lotus replied. He then turned to Kang Tian. “The amount of Colored-Glass is still insufficient. I must trouble you a bit longer.”
Kang Tian glanced at Greater Sancte Blood Tower and quietly said, “Rest assured, I will do everything I can to help human civilization overcome this crisis. If we survive, could you lend your aid to my Tricolor Skyborne?”
“I won’t lie to you. All I can say is that we will do our best. With our human civilization having so many Immortals, even if the Seven-Treasure Anuras attack us with full force and outpower us, they will still fail to truly destroy us. The price to do so is too high to be worthwhile.
“The same is true of Obscura.
“This means that it is unlikely for our human civilization to be completely destroyed. What I can promise you is that we will help your species as much as possible, though I cannot guarantee success.”
Kang Tian was grateful, “Thank you. That is already more than enough. Honored human civilization, may you one day become a fishing civilization. My Tricolor Skyborne will serve humanity.”
With that, the snail left. It had been completely convinced.
Four Immortals and one Aberrant. Even if humanity was not yet a fishing civilization, they were getting close. Any fishing civilization that tried to destroy the human civilization would struggle greatly, and the cost of success might even be enough to drag a fishing civilization down from that lofty status.
That might be why Obscura was unwilling to directly act against humanity.
Humanity’s strength pushed Kang Tian to decide to stake everything on helping them. Even if the rest of the Tricolor Skyborne perished, the risk would be worthwhile so long as Kang Tian itself survived.
Once the snail left, Greater Sancte Awe Gate coldly commented, “It mostly seeks what is best for itself alone.”
Greater Sancte Green Lotus gave a small smile. “Which is quite normal. So long as that snail lives, the Tricolor Skyborne live on as a species.”
Lu Yin said, “He won’t go back to the rest of Tricolor Skyborne, which gives us another Immortal. So long as Master Qing Cao isn’t trying to divide us from within, then with the exception of an absolute mean, we can already be practically considered a fishing civilization. I really can’t believe that fishing civilizations are that much stronger than us.”
Greater Sancte Green Lotus somberly replied, “Do not underestimate them. The absolute means of a fishing civilization are not something that you want to face. When they appear, you will understand, just like a Thread of Heaven.”
Lu Yin was surprised. “A Thread of Heaven?”
Greater Sancte Green Lotus glanced over at Greater Sancte Blood Tower, who asked, “Is Mr. Lu aware of even the Threads of Heaven?”
Lu Yin nodded.
Greater Sancte Blood Tower praised, “Impressive. When I left the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, you were not even able to fight against Immortals, Mr. Lu. But from what I hear now, you’ve even managed to slay one. Our human civilization has gained an Aberrant! Excellent! Truly excellent!”
Lu Yin knew that he was being praised, but being called an Aberrant did not sound very nice.
“Mr. Lu, where is your wife?” Greater Sancte Blood Tower suddenly asked.
Lu Yin was stunned. My wife?
Greater Sancte Awe Gate frowned. “What kind of ridiculous question is that?”
Greater Sancte Blood Tower said in a serious tone, “I intend to accept a goddaughter, and Mr. Lu’s wife would be perfect. A new disciple would do just as well.”
Greater Sancte Awe Gate scolded, “You haven’t even met her!”
“There’s no need. This is destiny.”
“You’re insane!”
“I need a goddaughter or disciple. There is too much yang energy among the inheritors of my Blood Tower.” The man appeared completely serious as he looked at Greater Sancte Awe Gate. “You’ve heard of the harmony of yin and yang, haven’t you?”
Greater Sancte Awe Gate was speechless.
Lu Yin felt helpless. Are all the people from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse like this?
Greater Sancte Green Lotus had wanted Lu Yin to marry all Seven Fairies, Greater Sancte Awe Gate had tried to play matchmaker for him and Qing Yun, and now, Blood Tower was getting involved too.
Far earlier, the Great Master and Wei Heng had also tried to win Lu Yin over for Blood Tower.
Greater Sancte Green Lotus shook his head. “Enough, Blood Tower. Now that you’ve returned, there are some things that you should tell them.”
Greater Sancte Blood Tower smiled at Lu Yin. “Be good to my goddaughter.”
Greater Sancte Green Lotus rubbed his forehead in a helpless manner.
“The reason why I left Nine Odysseys was to eliminate certain hidden dangers.
“The River of Aeons has branches and a main stream. If time isn’t separated, those branches will eventually merge back into the main stream. It’s inevitable. Our human civilization has endured for so long without that happening mostly because we’ve eliminated the time that feeds into the main stream.”
Greater Sancte Blood Tower then looked at Lu Yin. “Of course, if I hadn’t cleared that time, the River of Aeons and the Mirari Realm in your Tianyuan might or might not have returned to the main stream, but no one can say for sure. My actions were purely precautionary.
“Most branches of the River of Aeons in the various megaverses never merge back into the main stream, but some do. For instance, the Great Master’s River of Aeons didn’t vanish. It simply merged back into the main stream while her megaverse was destroyed.”
Lu Yin understood.
“In addition to that, I also circled the edge of our territory to see if any fishing civilization’s means had infiltrated our region. Senior Green Lotus can only observe the area enveloped by his Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, but I needed to look past that. The lesson we learned from the Death Megaverse was too harsh. These patrols usually only take about thirty or forty years at the most, but this time I took more than fifty years because I happened to find something while out there.”
His eyes lit up. “A Thread of Heaven.”
Greater Sancte Awe Gate and Ku Deng were both surprised. “You found a Thread of Heaven?”
“I didn’t exactly find it, but rather happened to run into it,” Greater Sancte Blood Tower clarified.
Greater Sancte Green Lotus reminded him, “Threads of Heaven can never be intentionally found. They can only ever be discovered by coincidence.
“Each Thread of Heaven is unique. They follow no template in the Aevum Inch. That is because they are not part of any one civilization, but rather are an act of mercy shown by certain beings or civilizations to those who are weaker. They can take many forms, like a stone, or perhaps a living creature.
“A Thread of Heaven will never carry a sign announcing itself as such, but when you see one, you will just know what it is. That is what I was referring to before.”
Lu Yin asked in confusion, “Why would you just know?”
Greater Sancte Blood Tower replied, “It’s similar how thirst drives you to drink water, or how certain animals will instinctively head towards a desert or a sea. You can’t explain why—you just know that such a place can help you. It might even be some kind of cosmic law.
“We’ve never created a Thread of Heaven, so we don’t really know. Throughout all my time in the Aevum Inch, I’ve only ever seen one.”
Greater Sancte Green Lotus nodded. “I’ve only seen one as well.”
Lu Yin looked at Greater Sancte Awe Gate, but she said nothing.
After leaving the Mindscape Megaverse’s Deep Rift Universe, Greater Sancte Awe Gate had wandered around the Aevum Inch for a thousand years. While that could not be considered a long time, she had returned as an Immortal.
No one knew what she had experienced during those thousand years, as she was unwilling to speak on it.
“Because I happened to run into that Thread of Heaven, I was delayed for some time. I didn’t expect so much to happen to human civilization. It’s a pity that I wasn’t here, or else that Nest civilization would have been destroyed long ago,” Greater Sancte Blood Tower lamented.
Greater Sancte Awe Gate frowned. “What are you saying? Are you blaming me?”
“Of course not. Your achievements are quite impressive. It’s lucky that Senior Green Lotus returned.”
That only served to annoy Greater Sancte Awe Gate even more. “You being here would have made no difference! Given your strength, you couldn’t have defeated the Immortal Lord or Lan Meng. You’d just be another person guarding the house!”
Greater Sancte Blood Tower stared at her. “Girl, aren’t you acting a bit too arrogantly? Come to think of it, I did notice earlier that you seem to have become much stronger than before.”
Greater Sancte Awe Gate met the man’s gaze. “Mr. Lu created a cultivation system for a civilization. My strength has far more than doubled.”
Greater Sancte Blood Tower was startled, and he turned to look at Lu Yin in disbelief. “Is that true?”
Lu Yin said, “You’ve only just returned, so you probably haven’t heard yet. The Nirvana Tree Path was created thanks to the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm...”
After hearing Lu Yin’s explanation, Greater Sancte Blood Tower let out a frustrated sigh. “Why do such good things never happen to me? What a pity! If I’d been here, I would have been the one to accept Mi Jin’s spirit seed. Tch! Giving it to this girl is such a waste.”
Greater Sancte Awe Gate snapped back, “Giving it to you would’ve been worse!”
Greater Sancte Blood Tower sighed. “Girl, your temper’s increased along with your strength. You talk back with every word you speak. Don’t forget, you rose to fame by stepping on my face. If I hadn’t held myself back at that time, where would your legend of battling across heaven and earth have come from?”
“You didn’t hold back.”
“I did.”
“Absolutely did not!”
“Absolutely did.”
Greater Sancte Green Lotus heaved another frustrated sigh. “Enough! Stop it, Blood Tower. Let’s get back to the point.”
Greater Sancte Blood Tower grunted. “When I found that Thread of Heaven, I slipped inside, but unfortunately, its master noticed me and escaped with it. I was left behind and delayed there for some time, which is why I’ve only returned just now.
“Heh, but the master of that Thread of Heaven underestimated me. The Thread itself slipped away, but I managed to keep hold of its time. With that time as coordinates, I can find it again.”
He then looked at Lu Yin. “Mr. Lu, interested in seeing a Thread of Heaven for yourself?”
Lu Yin considered the proposal.
Threads of Heaven were among the rarest of places. They were where creatures throughout the Aevum Inch could interact with each other. They were places where individuals could learn about other civilizations in the cosmos. Of course he wanted to go.
However, the current situation was uncertain. The Nest civilization was still lurking nearby, Obscura remained an ever-present threat, and the Seven-Treasure Anuras were also a concern. This was not the right time to go.
“Not now. Who knows how long that trip would take? If the Seven-Treasure Anuras attack while I’m gone, I’d rather stay to help.”
Greater Sancte Green Lotus interjected, “Traveling back to the Seven-Treasure Anuras and then returning here will take at least sixty years. That’s plenty of time to just visit a Thread of Heaven.”
“You want me to go, Senior?” asked Lu Yin.
Greater Sancte Green Lotus said, “It is possible that there might be information about the Seven-Treasure Anuras and Obscura in that place. We’ve been the passive party all along, and one day, our defenses will fail. Obscura is the greatest enemy that our civilization has ever faced, and only one of us can survive. If we are able to learn more about them, we might finally be able to strike back.
“I’ve learned about what you’ve done in the Tianyuan. When you faced Aeternus, you rallied powerhouses from multiple different parallel universes into a united force against your common enemy. Without those allies, you would have never been able to invade the Scourges.”
Lu Yin nodded. There was no denying that. Only by gathering experts from numerous universes had humanity been able to oppose Aeternus. It was also precisely because the Aeternals had spread themselves across so many universes that they had never been able to genuinely eradicate the humans of the Origin Universe.
