Chapter 3783: Signpost
Chapter 3783: Signpost
After thinking about it, Lu Yin realized that the seven women had actually evaded his palm strike. That was quite impressive.
The pool was clearly quite small, so just how had Lu Yin fallen into it? It was such a bizarre coincidence.
Suddenly, some unseen power grabbed a hold of him, but Lu Yin did not resist. While he felt that it was possible to resist if he tried, it was the power of Greater Sancte Green Lotus. It was not just physical power, but something with an indescribable grandeur that exceeded even the Immortal realm. The force threw Lu Yin out, and when he regained control of himself, he was falling. He saw a waterfall pouring down from the Sea of Karma.
Still held by the unseen force, Lu Yin looked around, and his eyes instantly narrowed. Was that the Mother Tree?
It looked as if the colossal tree was holding the sky and the earth in place. The canopy formed from the countless branches scattered multicolored light, creating an exquisitely beautiful sight. Far away, islands floated while clouds and all manner of strange things drifted about in the sky that seemed to stretch into the infinite distance. When Lu Yin looked down, the ground below seemed small, yet also endless. He looked forward and saw a branch hanging low, lush with green foliage.
A rainbow arched through the sky above the waterfall, and a slender crescent moon glowed past the white mist. Prismatic streaks of color shot through the sky. As Lu Yin fell, he felt as though he was seeing countless beautiful ribbons unfurled about the sky.
He had never expected the Nine Odysseys Megaverse to have its own Mother Tree, let alone such a massive one. The scale was unbelievable, and it far surpassed the Perennial World’s Mother Tree in the Tianyuan Megaverse. The two were not even on the same level.
The Mother Tree’s roots plunged deep into the earth while its canopy held up the firmament, painting the sky a vibrant green. It was a breathtakingly beautiful sight.
This was the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.
He looked up. Does that mean that the Sea of Karma is on top of the tree’s canopy?
It was reasonable. After all, only the Greater Sancti qualified to stand above the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse and look down on all others.
Where’s the Spirit Nidus? Beneath this Mother Tree?
The Nine Odysseys Megaverse was completely invisible from the Spirit Nidus.
If the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had its Mother Tree, then what about the black Mother Tree that had come from the Spirit Nidus? It had been moved to the Tianyuan simply because it had blocked some path, but what sort of entity were these trees?
Lost in his thoughts, Lu Yin passed through the clouds and plunged straight into the lake that lay at the bottom of the waterfall.
The waterfall was vast, and the land surrounding the lake at the bottom stretched out a great distance. Lu Yin landed in a single alcove of the lake. There were pavilions and terraces surrounding the shore, and laughter and parties echoed over the waters.
There was a tremendous splash as Lu Yin crashed into the lake. Water was sent flying in all directions, drenching many onlookers and leaving them looking like soaked hens.
“Who is that? An assassin! Young master, watch out! There’s an assassin!”
“Stand back! Someone fell into the lake!”
“Ah~! My dress! Beat him to death for ruining it!”
Only after Lu Yin fell into the lake did the power that held him disappear. He leapt out of the lake with a gasp, only to fall back in. This was the second time that he had landed in water. What was with his luck and water in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse?
The alcove fell silent as everyone warily eyed the intruder. Some eyes were guarded, while others were aggressive and ready to attack.
“Beat him to death for me!”
“Attack!”
“He’s an assassin! Kill him!”
“Wait! Stop!” A well-dressed young master gave a commanding shout. He stood out like a crane among chickens. As he closed his fluttering fan, he observed Lu Yin and then offered a graceful bow. “Might I be allowed to ask your name, as well as why you have fallen into this lake?”
Lu Yin looked over at the young man.
The youth met Lu Yin’s stare with an expression that wavered between shock and suspicion. The young man was doubting his own eyes, but if he had seen correctly, then the man who fell down possessed an extraordinary identity.
While everyone else had been chatting and partying by the lake shore, the young master alone had been staring up the waterfall. He had even been using a tool to see higher and farther.
Coincidentally, the man had seen Lu Yin’s fall.
When he had first noticed Lu Yin, he had already fallen more than halfway down the waterfall. However, the waterfall stretched up to the peak of the Mother Tree, connecting to the Sea of Karma. It was far taller than what the young master could see, but it had immediately become clear that Lu Yin had fallen from far higher up than the midway point.
How far had he fallen? Had he been halfway up the waterfall? Higher? Was it possible that he had fallen from the canopy itself, or even from the Sea of Karma?
The young master harbored various suspicions, and they prevented him from acting rashly.
If the man had fallen from the top of the waterfall, then he had been in the Sea of Karma, which was a place that only those favored by Greater Sancte Green Lotus could enter.
Lu Yin gave no answer. He looked around but saw no one truly powerful. Still, the average person present possessed quite an impressive strength, given their ages.
A finger flicked out, unleashing a spiral of karma, which Lu Yin casually spun around.
Everyone instantly was put even more on edge despite seeing nothing.
The young master blinked. What did the man just do?
A sudden spark of insight struck the young master. Could that unseen power actually be karma? Impossible!
Throughout the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse, no one other than Greater Sancte Green Lotus himself had ever comprehended karma. That included even Little Lotus King, Green Lotus’s true disciple who was in cryostasis in the Scion Spire. Not even that man had comprehended karma.
If anyone had actually comprehended karma, then their name would have already reached every part of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. However, the young master had never heard of the man who had fallen from the waterfall.
The invisible power could not be karma.
Lu Yin’s spiral of karma circled the lake, piercing person after person. Each one who was pierced felt an inexplicable sensation. None could verbalize this feeling.
While the Nine Odysseys Megaverse was home to Greater Sancte Green Lotus, a cultivator who had comprehended karma, no one present was worthy to have ever directly encountered the power of karma, let alone be struck by it.
Lu Yin glanced around, took a single step, and simply vanished.
The young master on the shore was startled. “Where did he go?”
Everyone else remained on guard, and they started scanning the area. “Where did he disappear to? Be careful! He’s an assassin!”
“Miss, don’t fear! I will protect you with my life.”
“Junior sister, come over to your senior brother’s side.”
“Look everywhere! Find him and force him out...”
No matter how they searched, no one could locate Lu Yin. The gap between them and him was too great.
At this moment, Lu Yin was locked in a wide-eyed stare with someone inside an enclosed carriage.
Lu Yin was quite taken aback. What kind of face did this person have? It looked like it had been stretched sideways.
He had used karma as his destination to look for a path to take as the spiral of karma had passed through the people near the lake. He had been searching for karmic connections to the Four Commands Sword Sect. Those connections served as signposts, pointing him towards the sect. He had been lucky enough to find a signpost hidden at the bottom of the lake, but the form of that signpost was quite bizarre to look at.
Lu Yin had encountered fat men before, but never one like this. Was he just as wide as he was tall? How big was the man’s stomach? Lu Yin could not even describe the man’s body, and yet his face was surprisingly handsome. He was a remarkably dashing, square-shaped man. It was truly bizarre.
In front of Lu Yin, the fat man glared at him. How had this man appeared? The fatty had not even seen Lu Yin arrive.
Around the alcove’s shore, people were still shouting and yelling, determined to find Lu Yin.
The fatty hesitated, wondering if he should shout to the others.
Lu Yin set a hand on the man’s shoulder. “You’re quite burly, aren’t you?”
The fat man’s expression instantly changed. It felt like a mountain had settled onto his shoulder; he could not move at all. This man was unbelievably strong.
“Who are you?”
Lu Yin smiled and gave the man an approving look. “You are clearly quite strong, and yet you keep it hidden. What are you hiding?”
The man’s eyes narrowed sharply. “That’s none of your business. People should stay in their own wells and not disturb others’ waters.”
“But I have business with you.”
“You were looking for me?” the man asked, rather confused.
Lu Yin replied, “Let’s head out. This place is too noisy.”
The fatty’s expression changed once again. The hand on his shoulder had started to squeeze down, as though ready to crush him. The man was stunned. He prided himself on his physical strength, and yet this young man had casually subdued him. Was the man a monster? No, the man’s young appearance could be deceiving. It was possible that the fatty had encountered an old powerhouse.
Thinking this, he softly asked, “Do you know who I am?”
“I’ll find out soon enough. Now, let’s go,” Lu Yin said.
The fat man stared at Lu Yin for a long moment and then turned to call out his orders, “Let’s go! We’re leaving this place.”
Perhaps it was due to the man’s size, but the carriage was quite expansive. When the fat man gave his orders, the driver whipped the beasts, and the carriage left.
Other people had already started to leave the lake’s alcove, so one more carriage leaving was not at all conspicuous.
Lu Yin had never seen such colossal beasts pulling a carriage before. They moved very quickly, and steam puffed from their hooves as though they were running over clouds. They could rise high or descend to incredible depths without issue.
Once they were far from the lake, Lu Yin took his hand back and grinned while studying the fatty. “You’re quite amazing. Tell me, what’s your background, Fatty?”
The fatty suddenly attacked, throwing a palm strike at Lu Yin.
Lu Yin arched a brow in surprise. “The Five-Palm Art? Interesting.”
The palm slammed straight into Lu Yin’s shoulder... and that was all. The carriage continued on smoothly. Inside, silence reigned.
The fatty gaped at Lu Yin, stunned. “You...?”
Lu Yin slowly grinned. “So, you’re from the Five-Palm Sect? Not bad. Your palm technique is impressive, given your age.”
Suppressing his shock, the fatty gave a respectful bow. “Might I ask your name, Senior?”
“Don’t call me senior. I’m about your age,” Lu Yin casually replied.
The fatty froze. That sounded... wrong. If he’s about my age, how can he be so freakishly strong? He just about completely ignored my Five-Palm Art. That is not normal at all...
The Five-Palm Sect was no minor sect; they were confident enough to even challenge the Greater Sancti and had once defeated a Lesser Sancte. They were infamous throughout the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, which was also why the fatty was keeping his identity a secret. It was not that his sect was at war with other major powers, but rather that they were simply hated by many people.
The Five-Palm Sect was arguably the most defiant organization in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Their goal was to defeat the Lesser Sancti from a weaker position. They refused to allow anyone to stand above them, aside from the Greater Sancti.
Such a group of people were not well liked and had made too many enemies.
If not for their incredibly powerful Five-Palm Art, they would have been annihilated long ago.
Lu Yin had recognized the Five-Palm Art, but knew very little about the associated sect, and so he asked about them.
The fatty was puzzled by the question. How could anyone in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse not know about the Five-Palm Sect? However, the man’s aura did not mark him as a foreigner. It was odd. Could the man have been in isolated training his entire life?
Lu Yin had learned to disguise his foreigner’s aura with consciousness, which was why the fat man could not sense anything off about him.
“Fatty, I asked you a question,” Lu Yin reminded the man in a cold voice while a hint of threat glinted in his eyes.
Startled, the fatty quickly started sharing everything he knew about his Five-Palm Sect.
As Lu Yin listened, he looked at the fat man with a stranger and stranger expression. This Five-Palm Sect was quite the lawless group. The Four Greater Sancti and the Five Lesser Sancti ruled the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, and yet the Five-Palm Sect’ goal was to overthrow the Lesser Sancti. It was no wonder why this man was hiding his identity.
Lu Yin felt like he had just met another Emperor Slayer. Both the old lizard and this Five-Palm Sect hated the ruling powers, though it was also clear that the fat man was not nearly as reviled as Emperor Slayer.
“Senior, who exactly are you?” the fatty asked cautiously, unwilling to risk offending Lu Yin.
Lu Yin casually lounged on a seat in the carriage. “Are you on your way to the Four Commands Sword Sect?”
The fatty was caught off guard. “How did you know that?”
“Why are you headed that way?”
