Chapter 3760: The Next Weapon

Chapter 3760: The Next Weapon

A horde of powerhouses charged at Yue Ya, leaving him stunned. Was he actually being ambushed?

Only recently, he had ambushed Lu Yin. How had the tables turned so completely?

The Voidheart Mirror fell, as Yue Ya attempted to control all of his attackers with his manifested thought. Unfortunately, the Voidheart Mirror was stopped by Lu Yin’s consciousness before it could descend. Lu Yin’s eyes blazed brightly. While he could not yet risk devouring Yue Ya’s manifested thought and pursuing the same path as the former Lesser Sancte, that did not prevent Lu Yin from capturing him and keeping him imprisoned in the Champions’ Stage Purgatory to be released when needed.

With that in mind, Lu Yin took a step forward, attacking.

At that moment, a brilliant line cut across the universe, stretching between Yue Ya and the people of Boundless. The High Seraph had just attacked with Everlasting Will.

“Still not leaving?” his voice rang in Yue Ya’s ears.

Yue Ya was unwilling, but he merely glanced at Lu Yin before suddenly dissolving into a cloud of manifested thought that merged with the Voidheart Mirror, which then disappeared.

Lu Yin’s consciousness could block Yue Ya’s manifested thought, but he could not prevent Yue Ya from escaping, especially with the High Seraph’s intervention.

Lu Yin felt a bit of regret, but he had never intended to actually capture Yue Ya. After all, he had been one of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s Lesser Sancti. Even if Yue Ya had been repeatedly wounded, he would never be an easy opponent. On top of that, the High Seraph’s appearance had been anticipated.

The High Seraph helped the weaker party in the Consciousness Megaverse to maintain a sense of balance.

There was nothing odd about his attack.

Chu Yi and the others sighed. “What a pity.”

“After all, he’s just a body of manifested thought.”

“All of these peak Dukkhans are too hard to eliminate. Both Yong Heng and the High Seraph are exactly the same. Compared to them, the Thirteen Luminaries are much worse...”

After hearing the experts from Boundless chatting, Chao Yi looked over at Lu Yin. “Was that Mo Shang who just interfered?”

Lu Yin nodded. “Care to come have a chat?”

“There’s no need.” Chao Yi declined.

Lu Yin smiled. “Are you afraid that we’ll go after you?”

Chao Yi shook his head. “Killing me accomplishes nothing for you.”

It was true that Lu Yin had no intention of attacking Chao Yi, but he needed someone to deliver a message to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Chao Yi was neither an enemy nor an ally, but he did have the enormous power of Deathmound behind him. He was an ideal candidate.

“Yue Ya won’t be easy to deal with. He’ll be at his most dangerous when he finally casts aside his pride as a former Lesser Sancte and abandons his goal of becoming a Greater Sancte,” Chao Yi coolly informed Lu Yin.

Lu Yin was puzzled. “What do you mean by that?”

Chao Yi stared at Lu Yin. “In the Nine Odysseys, we also have spirit souls.”

Lu Yin’s gaze sharpened. Of course. Cultivators of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse were able to learn unique skills known as spirit souls. These skills drew upon the power of the Greater Sancti. Feng Bo’s Blood Tower and Jiu Xian’s Awe Gate were both examples of spirit souls. However, Yue Ya had never used a spirit soul in any of these battles. He had only ever used his manifested thought, and when pressed, he had revealed his Against the Mortal World.

Chao Yi warned, “Spirit souls use the power of the Greater Sancti. All cultivators from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse possess those skills, and while I myself am not skilled with spirit souls, that does not mean that Yue Ya is the same.

“The Lesser Sancti seek to forge their own system of power. Using spirit souls is nothing less than delivering their pride into the hands of the Greater Sancti. No Lesser Sancte who truly aims to achieve Immortality would do such a thing. However, things change when their own lives are at stake.

“I don’t know how strong Yue Ya might become when using a spirit soul.”

Lu Yin frowned. “Why warn me?”

Chao Yi replied, “Yue Ya is a criminal. He will eventually be punished. My next mission might very well be to execute him.”

“You want to use me to eliminate him.”

“Incidentally.”

“How did you ‘incidentally’ agree to help Yue Ya take me down?”

Chao Yi offered no objection. He did not care about the assistance that he had promised. “You hold the chips, so now it’s time to make your demands.”

Lu Yin clasped his hands behind his back. It was time to play his cards.

...

Elsewhere, a clump of dark-gold manifested thought stretched from the sky down to the ground before Yue Ya slowly materialized into a cloud-like form on a planet.

He was not far from the High Seraph. “Have you been watching all this time?”

The High Seraph observed Yue Ya. “The Consciousness Megaverse might be vast, but it isn’t hard to observe you.”

“Why help me?”

“I wasn’t helping you. I simply don’t wish to see you captured by Lu Yin.”

“He would only try to kill me if I tried to capture him. Capturing me is too risky.”

“Why do you want to capture Lu Yin?”

Yue Ya was taken aback. “Do you really think that Lu Yin can transform his consciousness by merging with my manifested thought? Is that why you’re suggesting that he wants to capture me?”

It was not hard to guess that Yue Ya intended to use Lu Yin’s consciousness to transform his manifested thought. Anyone who knew him could figure out his intentions. He had also never hidden it. Still, he had never considered that Lu Yin might develop the same goal.

The High Seraph replied, “It should be impossible for him, but I can’t guarantee it. After all, he’s accomplished too many impossibilities.”

Yue Ya sneered. “If you’re right, then I’d rather be captured by him. Let’s see if he dares to try to transform with my manifested thought.”

The High Seraph stared at Yue Ya. “It would be best if you did not underestimate Lu Yin. He is young, and he might overlook some small details, but he’s surrounded by ancient powerhouses, one of whom is nearly at our level. That man’s name is Tai Chu. He’s known as the Origin Progenitor of the Tianyuan Megaverses, and he’s the one responsible for creating humanity’s cultivation system in that megaverse. His comprehension is in no way inferior to our own.”

Of course Yue Ya was familiar with the Origin Progenitor. The first time that Lu Yin had been attacked, he had cooperated with the Origin Progenitor. That man’s sequence particles had immediately roused Yue Ya’s killing intent.

No matter how he looked at it, the man was on a path straight to the Immortal realm.

“The first time we fought, Lu Yin was unable to withstand even my manifested thought. Now, he is able to block the full force of my Voidheart Mirror even easier than you can. He is progressing much too quickly. Should we wait any longer, he’ll become uncontrollable. Mo Shang, I don’t know why you’ve helped him so many times, but you should be able to see the results. If we don’t deal with him now, it’s certain that he will kill you,” Yue Ya threatened.

The High Seraph’s expression turned grave. Lu Yin had advanced far faster than the High Seraph had ever considered possible. How could anyone have known that the man was capable of devouring conscients to strengthen his consciousness? Additionally, he had captured Old Salamander and everyone else on the Spirit Nidus’s battleships, which meant that he had likely acquired the Heaven-Devouring Umbrella and Heaven’s Seal. The man’s physical might was already terrifying, and one could only imagine what would happen if he fought while using Heaven’s Seal.

There was also another shadow hanging in the minds of both men: the powerful karma that had appeared some time ago.

Everyone had assumed that the power had heralded the arrival of Greater Sancte Green Lotus, but if the Greater Sancte had entered the Consciousness Megaverse, why had he not appeared?

There had been such a massive commotion, but Green Lotus still had not appeared while Lu Yin still had the Spirit Nidus cultivators as his captives. It was clear that something was not right.

Neither of the two dared to continue down that line of thought, as the worst-case scenario left them feeling completely stifled.

“Lu Yin is still only a peak powerhouse who has not even comprehended any sequence particles,” the High Seraph stated solemnly.

Yue Ya replied, “Mastering sequence particles is not important. They are nothing more than a shortcut to come into contact with the Immortal realm, and they are not even necessary. Whether he masters them or not will not prevent him from becoming an Ortuser or even a Dukkhan. Given his current combat strength, the only thing that could possibly prevent him from achieving Immortality is him failing to overcome Dukkha. He might be just as eager as the two of us to see a megaverse reset.”

The High Seraph’s finger twitched. “If he truly manages to avoid comprehending sequence particles entirely, he will become even more terrifying.”

Yue Ya exclaimed, “What do you mean? You think that he could actually do that?”

The High Seraph’s eyes narrowed sharply. Skipping comprehending sequence particles was not the same as abandoning that stage of development. While most cultivators proceeded to higher realms by relying on their sequence particles, their impact diminished as an individual climbed higher. Even at the Origin realm, the laws of the universe could not touch a cultivator. If Lu Yin succeeded at skipping past sequence particles, they would remain a weapon that he could always pick up to improve his strength, no matter what level he reached.

Some of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s greatest geniuses actively followed this method, particularly those who joined the Scion Spire. None who had comprehended sequence particles were allowed to join the tower. Sequence particles were not a necessary weapon; only those who lacked confidence of being capable of reaching a higher cultivation level would use it to advance.

In contrast, mastering sequence particles remained a symbol of strength in all three lower megaverses.

They could only hope that Lu Yin never learned the truth.

...

“What did you just say?” Chao Yi stared at Lu Yin in a daze, certain that he must have misheard the young man.

Lu Yin earnestly repeated, “I want the title of Lesser Sancte.”

Chao Yi’s eyes narrowed as he continued to stare at Lu Yin.

There were only five Lesser Sancti in the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse, and one of those titles belonged to the current High Seraph of the Spirit Nidus. The other four positions had to be earned.

While the Lesser Sancti were all peak Dukkhans, the same as several of the experts who had recently appeared in the Consciousness Megaverse, the two were not on the same level.

Was Yue Ya weak? He had not repeatedly failed to capture Lu Yin due to his own weakness, but rather because of the High Seraph’s interference.

The High Seraph was also a Lesser Sancte, and he was powerful enough to have even defeated Ru Shi.

Yue Ya was able to momentarily leave Lu Yin’s mind blank with his manifested thought, and he was even able to completely control almost all of the experts aboard Boundless. Yue Ya was far from weak.

There might be 100 peak Dukkhans, but there would never be more than five Lesser Sancti. They were the best within their level, and they represented the Nine Odysseys Megaverse itself.

Giving one of those positions to the High Seraph was already quite frustrating to some in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, if another position was given away...

Of course, that was not what Chao Yi was worried about. Rather, shouldn’t Lu Yin be more concerned about preventing the Tianyuan Megaverse from being reset?

That was indeed Lu Yin’s ultimate goal, but he would not rely solely on negotiations to ensure that his people were protected.

The fact that Yue Ya had readily betrayed Ruler Garden and seeing as how Chao Yi had also broken a promise were recent warnings to Lu Yin.

It was impossible to simply trust others.

He needed to personally visit the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and join the competition as a Lesser Sancte if he wanted to be able to fight for even a sliver of hope for the Tianyuan.

“Are you certain that you want the title of Lesser Sancte? I can tell you right now that it’s almost impossible for you to succeed,” Chao Yi cautioned.

Lu Yin glanced at the four battleships from the Spirit Nidus. “How steep of a price would the Nine Odysseys Megaverse be willing to pay for the title of Lesser Sancte?”

Chao Yi coldly replied, “That depends on how much the Tianyuan is willing to endure.”

Lu Yin’s eyes grew cold, and Chao Yi quickly explained, “This is not a threat. I am not in a position to be able to threaten you. I’m merely stating facts.”

Lu Yin’s expression relaxed a bit. “If the cultivators that I’ve already captured aren’t enough, why don’t we add on the entire Consciousness Megaverse?”

Chao Yi’s eye twitched. “What was that?”

“Don’t forget, I am also able to reset this megaverse.”

Chao Yi stared intently at Lu Yin before finally shaking his head. “You cannot do that.”

Lu Yin showed a small smile. “Did Yue Ya happen to mention that I have comprehended the power of karma?”

Chao Yi’s pupils shrank sharply, and for the first time, his expression changed quite drastically. “You have comprehended karma?”

“Apparently Yue Ya didn’t tell you, and there’s a good reason for that. He was afraid that you wouldn’t be willing to cooperate with him if you knew the truth. Ruler Garden and the Thirteen Luminaries would never tell you this, but I can admit it: I have comprehended the power of karma. You might say that it’s impossible, but the Willbound Spire was blocked by Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s power of karma, and I was able to dismantle that karma.”

Dismantle karma... It sounded like such an odd choice of phrasing, and yet Lu Yin had deliberately chosen it.

He had not used the words “tear down” yet.
