Chapter 3722: Absorption And Counter-Absorption

Chapter 3722: Absorption And Counter-Absorption

Naturally, Lu Yin was also concerned about the Willbound Spire. Since the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had attached so much importance to the palace, it was very likely that it did contain the memories of an Immortal. Still, he was only one man, and his energy was finite. He could not keep everything under control.

After being sent flying, the meteorite moved extremely fast, but Lu Yin was still faster, and he managed to catch up in an instant.

The meteorite suddenly shot toward him, but Lu Yin responded with a palm strike that blasted the stone away yet again.

The meteorite seemed to completely lack any sort of fear. Regardless of whether it was weak or strong at a given moment, it continued to recklessly flail about, as though knowing that it could not be harmed.

Lu Yin’s palm strike was incredibly powerful, and he sent the meteorite flying again. However, this time, it did not charge back at him. Instead, it flew off in the opposite direction.

No one could sense any sort of rhyme or reason in the meteorite’s movements, and the Origin Progenitor and the others had no idea why it had suddenly appeared in the Willbound Expanse.

As he chased the meteorite, Lu Yin continually released spirals of karma while also remaining on guard for any possible surprise attacks from the High Seraph or Yong Heng.

The Consciousness Megaverse was vast. Lu Yin continued to pursue the meteorite as it shot straight away from him. It simply passed through any Broken Realms in its path, while Lu Yin had to skirt around them. Some of the Consciousness Megaverse’s Broken Realms were complete mysteries, and Lu Yin had no desire to be trapped in one.

The chase continued for several days. Lu Yin kept firing off spirals of karma, and he managed to catch a glimpse of the creatures from the Nests twice more. Those scenes were similar to what he had first seen, and they failed to help him discern their destination.

In addition to the insects from the Nests, Lu Yin also glimpsed other civilizations whose affiliations were unknown.

This discovery weighed heavily on him. It was clear that the omniverse consisted of far more megaverses than what he knew about. There were still undiscovered foreign megaverses, possibly many of them. The meteorite had come from the Aevum Inch, and it had passed through more than one unknown megaverse. Lu Yin simply had no idea how strong or weak those megaverses might be.

The eye in the meteorite grew increasingly deranged and violent after days of being pummeled by Lu Yin. After another half a day passed, it suddenly stopped moving, and the eye locked onto Lu Yin. The bloodshot eye looked like a dark-red gemstone as it shone with a disturbing, sinister light that sent chills to the heart.

Lu Yin met the eye’s stare. “Where are you from?”

The eye continued to stare at the man, not even fluctuating.

“There’s no question about if you can understand me. At your level, language is no longer a barrier. Tell me: just where do you come from?” Lu Yin asked again.

It was simply impossible for him to do anything to the meteorite. Even after chasing it and attacking it for so long, he had failed to inflict the slightest bit of damage.

He felt like he was up against Master Qing Cao.

Nothing at all could touch Master Qing Cao. No matter how many battle techniques were used, nothing could approach the Immortal. As for the meteorite, no matter how it was struck, nothing could harm it.

Lu Yin had started to suspect that it might be an Immortal-grade meteorite.

Nothing beneath the Immortal realm should be able to endure Lu Yin’s full-powered attacks. Even if the High Seraph himself allowed himself to be struck head-on, Lu Yin’s attacks would likely overwhelm the man.

“We may not be enemies. What are you trying to do? Why did you come here?

“You’ve seen those bugs.

“Can you speak?

“This is the Consciousness Megaverse...”

No matter what Lu Yin said, the eye continued to simply stare at him, as though giving a warning.

After staring at the man for some time, the meteorite flew off again.

Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed, and he shot forward to block the meteorite’s path.

When the eye saw Lu Yin again, it instantly flared, seemingly infuriated. Pushed to the brink of madness, blood suddenly flushed the eye, transforming it into a crimson sphere. A piercing sound rang out as the meteorite shot forward violently. The shrill sound, the one that the meteorite had first made, left Lu Yin’s mind reeling. The sound did nothing to damage nearby space, but it succeeded in disrupting Lu Yin’s mind and thoughts.

Behind Lu Yin, his consciousness released as it revealed the Nine Heavens. A vast torrent of consciousness surged forth, and it immediately suppressed the sound.

Bang!

The meteorite slammed into Lu Yin, only to be stopped by a single hand. “I refuse to believe that I can’t break you.”𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

As he spoke, his arm withered, and he staggered back.

The meteorite shot forward once more.

Lu Yin stopped retaliating, and he allowed the meteorite to strike him again and again. Sometimes the blows failed to push him back, posing no threat, but there were other times when the meteorite sent him flying. There were moments where the stone’s power utterly amazed Lu Yin.

With each collision, Extremes Must Be Reversed absorbed a bit of power from the impacts. Lu Yin’s withered flesh kept being restored to normal, only to wither again as he held himself back.

During the battle at the source of the Fu River, Lu Yin had released the most powerful attack of his entire life, and he had not repeated it since. That attack had contained more than just his own strength, as he had also borrowed power from Emperor Wu’s Heaven’s Seal sequence base that the beast had kept suppressed within his body. That power had merged with Lu Yin’s own before being released, and the resulting punch had been powerful enough to shake the megaverse.

Lu Yin wanted to reproduce that power.

Each new impact from the meteorite granted Lu Yin additional power, which was absorbed and compressed by Extremes Must Be Reversed. It was just waiting for the moment to be released.

The sounds of the impacts echoed unceasingly throughout the universe.

After dozens of collisions, the meteorite suddenly changed direction and flew away.

Lu Yin instantly blocked its flight, and the meteorite resumed battering the man. Driven to absolute ire, the eye turned almost entirely red, making Lu Yin feel like he was looking at another corpse king.

Finally, his withered body fully recovered, and the power that he had absorbed had reached the limit. He stared at the approaching meteorite and said, “This is your last chance. Are you friend or foe?”

The meteorite slammed into him with full power.

Behind Lu Yin, the Nine Heavens surged like an endless sea, multiplying his strength further and further. Wielder-realm battle force enveloped his body as his inner universe was released. Infinity flowed through him as he threw a single punch.

The Consciousness Megaverse shook, its starry universes swaying.

The disturbance could be sensed no matter how far away one was in the megaverse.

The High Seraph, Yong Heng, Old Chief, and everyone else looked over, astonished by the sudden release of power that they had sensed.

The people on the other battleships near Boundless grew pale. The power that shook the megaverse reminded them of the battle at the source of the Fu River. At that time, Lord Lu had revealed a terrifying, endless strength.

Far away, cracks appeared on the surface of the meteorite for the first time, and they continued to spread without stopping.

Lu Yin stared at the cracks. He could not believe that he was facing an actual meteorite. There had to be a creature hiding within the stone. “Get out here!”

Power surged forth like an unstoppable flood, and as that happened, Lu Yin’s consciousness descended, pressing down upon the meteorite.

So long as a creature possessed thought, it would possess consciousness as well. And wherever there was consciousness, it could be suppressed.

The eye in the meteorite lost a bit of its bloodshot appearance as it stared at Lu Yin in astonishment. It was clear that the mind behind the eye had never imagined that the man could possess such overwhelming power. However, the moment that Lu Yin’s consciousness dropped down, the eye seemed to grow excited, or even eager.

Lu Yin sensed that something was wrong, and right after that, his consciousness started being absorbed.

Absorbed? No, it was being devoured. Can this meteorite actually devour my consciousness?

What kind of joke is this?

Up until this moment, Lu Yin had been the only one capable of devouring others’ consciousness. This was the first time that any other being had stolen his own consciousness.

Just what was this meteorite?

The eye in the meteorite became incredibly excited. The madness and frenzy in the eye started to diminish as it pulled in more of Lu Yin’s vast consciousness. Clearly, this was precisely what it craved.

Lu Yin’s expression grew cold, and he punched the meteorite again, sending it flying. However, an invisible bridge seemed to have connected their minds, and even at a distance, the meteorite was continuing to devour Lu Yin’s consciousness.

He refused to accept the situation. Let’s see whose devouring ability is stronger!

The star of consciousness in his inner universe started to spin, and his Nine Heavens grew solid. “Devour it for me!”

At that moment, the eye in the meteorite looked stunned as its own consciousness started to be sucked away.

The instant that happened, the eye returned to its state of frenzied insanity, while also appearing nervous and enraged. It glared at Lu Yin and shot towards him, but Lu Yin simply raised a hand and braced for impact. The meteorite stopped when its eye was mere inches from Lu Yin’s face.

“I don’t care what you are. Today, I’m going to tear you apart!” Lu Yin growled, all the while continuing to devour the meteorite’s consciousness.

Heaven’s Blade appeared from the top level of the Nine Heavens and slashed at the meteorite. A crack suddenly appeared on the surface of the stone, and from it, a cold light flashed out, skimming past Heaven’s Blade and streaking straight for Lu Yin’s brow.

His pupils abruptly shrank. He saw the sharp edge of a sword slash shooting towards him. It was so close that he could not dodge. All he could do was tilt his head to the side as far as possible.

The cold slash skimmed past his cheek, drawing a line of blood before it sliced through the Nine Heavens and vanished entirely.

Blood trickled down Lu Yin’s face. Even the consciousness that formed his Nine Heavens had been damaged, and the meteorite seized the opportunity to ravenously devour more consciousness.

Lightstream flickered in front of Lu Yin’s face, reversing time by one second.

It did nothing.

Lightstream could not undo the sword slash that had wounded him.

The attack completely ignored the time being rewound.

Luckily, Lu Yin’s wound was not severe. There was only a shallow cut on his cheek. Still, he had never suffered such a potentially dangerous strike even when fighting against the High Seraph or Yong Heng.

While the injury was minor, at the moment, it felt like a thorn in Lu Yin’s back.

Blood dripped down onto his arm as Lu Yin shoved the meteorite back with a hand. He was afraid of facing another slash.

The two were in a contest to devour the other’s consciousness; they were struggling to destroy the other’s mind.

The star of consciousness in Lu Yin’s inner universe spun faster and faster, creating a vortex that dragged in the meteorite’s consciousness. While the Nine Heavens had been slashed, it was still largely intact. Initially, the meteorite had only devoured the part of Lu Yin’s consciousness that had not been part of the Nine Heavens.

As soon as Lu Yin managed to react, the meteorite was no longer able to devour even a strand of his consciousness.

The eye in the meteorite grew increasingly frantic, and it started jerking about. The look in the eye radiated bloodlust and hatred, and it sent out wave after wave of threatening auras.

Lu Yin snorted. “Let’s see how long you can keep going for. You may have started this, but you don’t get to decide when we end.”

The eye glared at Lu Yin. As its consciousness was pulled away, a bit of the eye’s bloodshot appearance faded away. A hint of human-like confusion appeared, and the eye flickered once before completely relaxing its hold on its consciousness.

Lu Yin immediately started devouring much faster than ever before. The meteorite had yielded, and it was practically giving him its consciousness.

Lu Yin felt confused; if he completely devoured the meteorite’s consciousness, it would be left without a mind.

The more abnormal something appeared, the more it should be avoided.

Lu Yin stopped devouring consciousness. The meteorite’s eye lit up, and it stared intensely at Lu Yin before suddenly turning and shooting away.

You want to leave? It won’t be so easy.

Right as Lu Yin moved to give chase, a buzzing abruptly filled his head. It was as though a cord had been stretched tight in his brain and then plucked out. The sensation nearly made him vomit.

Blood filled his eyes, as well as madness and rage.

Lu Yin’s eyes flickered as beads of sweat dripped from his brow. This was not good. The madness in the meteorite’s eye came from its consciousness. That was why it had entered the Consciousness Megaverse, to devour more consciousness and suppress its madness. An alternate means of reducing that madness would be to release its own consciousness.

It could either devour more consciousness or release its own.

As it so happened, Lu Yin had enabled both to happen.

This was a problem. Lu Yin looked up, only to see that the meteorite had already disappeared.

He had been tricked.

Lu Yin was lucky that he had managed to stop in time and not fully devoured the consciousness. He could not even imagine what would have become of him if he had.

It felt like when he had fought while under the influence of divine energy; he had been filled with madness and bloodlust, which had altered his entire personality.

Lu Yin let out a long breath and forcibly suppressed the surge of madness. He located Boundless and started making his way back.
