Chapter 539 - 539: Centipede

Silva was pushed back a few steps. He stared at the monster as it rushed at him again. He pulled his sword back and charged in. The monster attacked with both claws, slashing down fast.

Silva swung. His blade collided with the claws, and a shockwave rippled out. The monster tried to recover, but Silva was already on the move. He stretched out his hands, and a blast of flames shot out. It slammed into the monster's chest and hurled it back.

Silva planted his foot into the ground and unleashed a slash. A massive flame arc cut through the void toward the monster. It slashed into its chest, and a deep wound formed on it.

Silva took a deep breath. He pressed his foot on the ground and dashed forward.

'Everything here is suffocating. It's like I'm in some sort of syrup. My movements are slow, and all my actions are restricted.

I'm trying my best to ensure that I don't crack under the pressure of the Abyss. I can hear that voice clawing at the back of my mind and trying to get in.

This place, this place is hell.'

He got into range with the monster. He slashed, his blade coming down fast, but the monster blocked the attack, and the shockwave cracked the platform beneath their feet.

'Regardless, I still have to keep fighting.'

He pushed back hard, and the monster was thrown back. Silva's eyes changed into his dragon eyes. He locked onto the monster and then blasted forward.

'I have to get better, and I have to get stronger.' He gritted his teeth and drove the blade forward. The flames erupted around the blade and twisted until they created a vortex of black flames.

"You are not an awakened monster. You lack the strength to make me worry."

Silva declared, and his sword connected with the chest of the Abyss monster, pushing it further back as the flames burned from inside.

Screeeeeeeeeeech!

The Abyss monster let out a screech. Silva thought it was a cry of pain, but he was wrong.

"Seems that cry was an alarm," Zion said.

Silva turned around to see what had caused him to say that, and he saw them coming, a massive group of monsters similar to the one he was fighting, the insect monsters.

"It's a hive," Silva said. He wasted no time and transformed.

'Seems I can't even attempt to go easy at all. This Abyss wants me dead.'

"Dragon Breath!"

He unleashed a massive wave of flames, the stream spreading wide and slamming into the monsters as they came. He poured everything that he had into the flames, and he could hear their pained screeches as they got burned.

The first monster that he had fought against immediately attacked, wanting to use that opportunity to come close, but Silva was alert.

A clone appeared behind Silva, coming down with a punch. His fist slammed into the face of the monster, sending it back several feet. It slammed into the ground hard and rolled for a few meters.

The clone rushed in and summoned a sword. It thrust forward fast before the monster could react, and the blade went right through its chest before a burst of flames exploded from the monster's chest and killed it.

"Nice work," Silva said to the clone. He poured more flames into his attack, damaging more and more of the monsters. They slammed into the ground hard, one after the other, until the floor was littered with hundreds of them.

"Let's finish this," he said and then transformed back. He gripped his sword and raised his hand into the air.

"Void Slash!"

He slashed down, and for a second, there was no movement. The slash ripped through every single monster, their bodies turning into nothing but dust.

Notifications flooded him.

Silva could not hold his smile as he looked at the screen.

"It's been so long since I got this feeling. Sadly, it is now limited to Abyss monsters alone."

He and his clone looked up, and coming in hot was the centipede-looking monster. But that was not all, because riding on the head of the monster was a figure. It was cloaked in a cloak that looked like complete darkness. Its eyes were blood red and stared right at him.

It pulled out a bow made of darkness and pulled on it. An arrow made of purple Abyss energy fired through the air, heading toward Silva.

Silva gritted his teeth.

He unsummoned his clone and ran towards the edge. He leaped off before the attack could hit. It slammed into the floating landform, blasting it into complete dust. The shockwave travelled through the air and slammed into Silva, throwing him back through the void.

The centipede immediately gave chase. Silva saw them coming and immediately turned around. He flapped his wings and flew away fast. He tore through the void at a stunning pace, but the centipede was faster and was catching up very fast.

The figure on it started firing more shots. Silva dodged each one as they came. They slammed into floating objects and completely obliterated them instantly.

'I can't lose focus for even a second. The Abyss is preying on my mind, I can tell. I have to use all my might to ensure that I keep them out.'

Soon, his eyes locked onto a massive, tank-like landform.

"There!" He shot down fast. The gravity of the planet began pulling him as well. He came down fast and broke through its atmosphere. The toxic energy felt like flames burning on his skin. He made it past, and his speed increased due to its gravity.

He slammed into the planet like a meteor. A massive crater formed. He turned around and saw the centipede still headed his way fast, the rider already pulling its bow.
