Chapter 84: Orc General And Anger
“What is going on?” Aldric frowned as he walked forward. They have already delved deep into the village, but they have not come in contact with anyone.
Leon used [Life Sense] and saw everyone gather around the guardian’s inhabitant. He wanted to delve deeper and see what was going on, but his intuition told him he might get severely injured if he did so.
Leon looked at Gul-Min and asked. “Do you know what is going on? Why is everyone gathered at the guardian’s place?”
Gul-Min pondered for a little, trying to recall. After a second or so, she softly mumbled. “We will gather around like this when it is a call for war or a strong warrior has come to visit.”
Aldric’s frown deepened after hearing her. ‘Is that why I am feeling a strong disturbance?’
He had felt a powerful presence as strong as him in the gathering, so he didn’t want to search.
Suddenly, an idea popped in Leon’s head. He asked Gul-Min. “Will all the women and children be there too?
“No. Women and children are not allowed to go out in situations like this. Mostly probably there are many women and children who are locked in these houses.” Gul-Min glanced at the wooden and mud houses, which all had their doors and windows closed. Especially at the large tents where most of the women were gathered to get bred.
“Then, you go and take away every woman and child. Tell them to wait at the entrance of the tunnel we just came in.”
Aldric nodded his head, approving Leon’s quick thinking. “Good. Gul-Min, try to be as fast as you can, as the fight might start at any moment.”
“As you wish, commander.” Gul-Min left respectfully.
On the other part of the village.
Elayne Frostveil looked at Silvana Dawncrest’s stern face. They have been searching everywhere and have not found anything except for orc women and children who appeared very scared.
“Miss, how about we just go straight to the gathering? We will waste time like this.” Elayne Frostveil said with concern.
“No! I can’t miss any detail! I might never have a chance like this in the future.” Silvana Dawncrest spoke emotionlessly before bursting into another house.
Elayne Frostveil let out a sigh of distress, knowing she couldn’t do anything else. Her miss’s determination wasn’t something she could influence. As for the reason, she was referring to Silvana Dawncrest as Miss, not Commander—it touched upon Silvana Dawncrest’s real identity.
Silvana Dawncrest wasn’t just a regular member of the Dawncrest Family; she was the granddaughter of one of the high elders.
A person of her status should not do this low-level work. However, she didn’t have any choice to begin with, as it was her grandfather who forced her on this work.
To restrict Silvana Dawncrest from trying to find the killers of her parents.
She has been wasting her time doing nothing as a commander. Her area of activity was only the place she was assigned to. However, it all changed when the news of orcs’ infiltration hit her. Her paranoia once again flared, giving birth to the thought of orcs being the killers too.
“Hmm?” Silvana Dawncrest halted in her steps as she heard a certain voice softly drifting in the wind.
She looked ahead, where the gathering was taking place, and hastened her steps.
“Miss, wait! What happened?” Elayne Frostveil began sprinting too, wanting to catch up with Silvana Dawncrest.
Silvana Dawncrest squinted her eyes and softly answered. “I faintly heard that snotty brat’s voice.”
Elayne Frostveil’s eyes widened in astonishment as she understood which snotty brat her miss was talking of. It was an introverted kid in their assigned area who would always come in to complain, and he had also gone missing.
…
“Heh! I knew you guys wouldn’t be able to contain yourself. Trying to catch the big one before us.” Marcus Ironwall spoke gleefully, crossing his arms. The people he was talking to were Aldric and Leon, who were standing in front of him.
Aldric shook his head, not wanting to argue with his colleague and not even ask why they arrived here faster than anyone. Instead, he turned to his left side, peeking through the small creeks of a window.
Before a large cave entrance, at least four hundred orc men were gathered. They stood in disproportionately yet made zero noise. Because, at the cave entrance, stood two bulky orc men.
Aldric’s and others’ faces turned grave looking at them, especially the small children tied beside those two orcs, and those were not orc children—they were humans.
The one who was slightly less bulky spoke respectively to the man standing to his right. “Genaral Puk-Ing, these were all we could get.”
General Puk-Ing gave a quick glance at the terrified human children and frowned. “Dan-Li, why is the supply so low this time?”
Dan-Li felt an unshakable pressure descending upon him. He knew if his answer didn’t satisfy the general, his head would be at the chopping block. “General Puk-Ing, it is all because humans have been extremely wary recently. We can’t find a way to capture human children. We might get caught if we do anything excessive.”
General Puk-Ing’s eyebrows furrowed, a grave expression visible on his face. He could guess the reason for this, and it was all related to the news about a secret stronghold in the overworld getting busted open.
This news hit them like a meteor as it indicated their operation would face assault from the humans any moment. It was only to minimize casualties, which led to humans taking time. If not for wanting to cause an unnecessary amount of death, their underground bases would have faced strong retaliation the day humans found out.
So, the elders have ordered them to speed up the process and the cause of his visit today.
The place Leon and others were hiding.
“Commander, what are they saying?” Darius asked curiously.
Expert-Rank was the limit of the base power, as it didn’t provide anything that could make one inhuman. So, Darius wasn’t able to hear anything those two orcs were saying. Only someone at master rank—like their commanders—had the listening power to hear anything from a distance without using magic.
“They are discussing the children they kidnapped from us. From the looks of it, they are currently short.” Marcus Ironwall answered, squinting his eyes. No one knew what was going through this middle-aged rough man’s mind.
“These bastards!” Darius clenched his fist in anger. He couldn’t wait to go in and smash the heads of these meathead barbarians.
The orcs have been bullying them too much for the past hundred years. A race that would walk with their heads bowed down has been fighting against them on equal footing and has zero fear toward them.
Now provided the opportunity, they wanted to choke the orcs to death and install abyssal fear in their hearts.
Meanwhile, Leon was looking in a certain direction as piercing light galloped through the air. He raised his hand to provide shade for his eyes and asked. “Commander, what’s that?”
“Hmm?” Because they were in deep conversation, they didn’t notice the light. Dumbfounded, they followed Leon’s gaze.
Instantly they became astounded with their eyes wide open, especially the commanders.
Marcus Ironwall muttered, asking Aldric. “Why…why is she angry?”
Aldric hesitated a little before answering. “What do I know? I am a total stranger like you. Anyway, get ready. Looks like we are about to accelerate the plan.”
By the time the commanders had finished speaking, the cause of the light was finally visible.
It was none other than Silvana Dawncrest. Her blonde hair fluttered in a craze from the stormy wind, and there was anger written on her face. Her eyes told the tale of her murderous rage to crush her enemy.
‘Does she also have deep hatred for orcs?’ Leon couldn’t help but wonder, as it reminded him of Aldric. Yet Aldric only produced an ounce of what Silvana Dawncrest was showing.
Bang!
Silvana Dawncrest’s feet landed onto the ground, caving in. She stood straight, staring straight into Puk-Ing’s eyes.
Puk-Ing eyelids twitched upon contact with Silvana Dawncrest. His instinct screamed, telling him to run as a hungry hunter has shown its presence. Puk-Ing hated it; he could show fear towards the great warriors of his race but not to humans.
Puk-Ing completely threw out the thought of a human possibly invading their underground base; instead, he wanted to destroy this human before his eyes. “What do you want, human?”
On the other hand, Dan-Li and the orcs surrounding Silvana Dawncrest became shocked. Her entry hinted human forces had arrived, possibly blocking their escape routes.
“I want to kill every single one of you! How dare you kidnap our children!” Silvana Dawncrest growled, glancing at the small boy looking at her with snot running down his nose. His red eyes, because of the tears he shed in fear, were shining with joy and hope.
“Hmph! Overconfident.” Pik-Ing sneered. He pressed his right hand as the black aura fluctuated. “Wither.”
