Chapter 27: Bloodline Privilege

Raela didn’t know what to think about that.

Neo felt it was time to get on with what he actually came for.

"So, what were the things you said I needed to know."

He changed the topic.

"Yes. About that."

She sat upright. Her face held an unfamiliar seriousness.

"There are some perks that comes with being a bloodline bearer in the Adventurer Guild."

Neo knew he should have expected this.

It made sense. Bloodlines were rare here in the mortal world, after all.

"If you had revealed your bloodline, which I am surprised you didn’t do. There are some perks you would have been enjoying by now."

"What perks?" Neo was curious.

"Well, the first one is that you will recieve a substantial sum of contribution points every month without having to do anything for it."

That was not too bad, Neo thought.

Basically free money.

"The contribution points scale upward with your increasing cultivation and rank."

That was generous. The Adventurer Guild was really invested in the prosperity of the mortal world.

It could also be that they were cultivating loyal followers.

"There are also the special missions that aren’t open to other adventurers. They reward greater contribution points than the usual."

Everything Raela was telling him was becoming more enticing than the last.

"Then, there is this one I find the most important. Both the military and the Adventurer Guild will allow you to exchange your merits and contribution points for some really rare resources. The kind that aren’t shown in the normal exchange."

"Rare resources?" Neo asked her.

"They have got really good stuff, especially those guys in the military. They are always the first to get their hands on the good stuffs that form in the true outlands."

Her eyes held yearning.

They must be really good stuff.

"But that’s just the perks of the Adventurer Guild and the military."

Neo raised an eyebrow. Who else would be giving out perks.

"If you join a family, you will have access to even more resources. If I introduce you to my family, I am sure you will find it worthwhile to join us."

"Not interested," Neo flat out refused her.

"Don’t you want to know what benefits you will be getting from joining a family? We don’t ask much of our people. All we want is for them to cultivate."

"I have no interest in joining any family."

Raela blinked at him.

"Do you have something against families?"

Neo shook his head.

"No. I am just not interested in joining one."

"Your cultivation has surpassed your team members. You will need to join a new team, when going into the true outlands. If you join my family, you won’t have to worry about your new team members. You can even become a team leader."

"I am not joining any family. And about joining a new team."

Neo shrugged.

"I will hold off on that for now."

Raela saw it now.

Neo was not a team player. What made him join a team in the first place then.

"Alright. Let’s go update your data in the Adventurer Guild then. It’s time for you to start enjoying the benefits of being a bloodline bearer."

Together, the two left the inn.

"I think it’s best you know this. The Adventurer Guild might summon all F-Rank adventurers anytime from now. It is going to be dangerous, but it is also an opportunity. So, be prepared."

Raela told him this on their way to the Adventurer Guild building in the East Immortal Fort.

"Is this related to the military and the demon army."

She nodded.

"Some sort of powerful domain is forming in the true outlands. No one knows its true nature, but only F-Rank adventurers can get near it."

What more strange things could be forming in the true outlands?

Neo knew this was going to be more than dangerous. If it was anything like that strange zone he almost died in, he needed to really prepare himself.

In the Adventurer Guild building. Neo disclosed his identity as a bloodline bearer to the person registering adventurers.

His Adventurer Card was upgraded immediately.

The information on it had a new addition now. Special Class.

Neo looked the card over. He knew that it was more special than it looked.

Its most special property being that it was very hard to destroy.

That liquid in the strange zone that almost dissiolved his body into nothingness, and led to him awakening Devour.

That liquid and the self destruction technique he used, neither had left a mark on the card.

Raela, who had not been away from his side, saw his actions.

"Why are you looking at it like it’s the first time you are seeing it. You can make it shine golden if you want."

She told him how it was done.

He tried it, and he immediately reverted the card back to its normal color.

That golden color was too flashy.

"I think this card is one of the most sophisticated artifact in the Immortal World."

Raela looked at the card in his hand, then looked at him.

"Have you been down here that long, that you have forgotten everything up there? The most sophisticated artifact?"

"Yes, sophisticated. I have heard of some things it can do. I look forward to the day I can try them myself."

Raela was also aware of these things. But surely, there must be more sophisticated artifacts up there.

These cards that the Adventurer Guild handed out to anyone who called themselves an adventurer.

How did they have anything to do with sophistication.

Then she saw Neo exchange contribution points for one special resource after another.

He didn’t hold back.

He was like a man who had been dying of thirst, now he dove into the pool he had just found.

The only thing that held him back was his contribution points.

The two parted ways after that.

There wasn’t much that could be done in a place like the East Immortal Fort.

They also had other businesses to attend to.

Neo himself wanted to cultivate.

Those resources he exchanged for where the best he could get. They had a lot of essence in them.

Devour didn’t care whether they were poisonous or they weren’t to be consumed normally.

It would break down everything, and turn it into his cultivated essence.
