Chapter 101 | Possessing The Saber-Tooth Tiger Cub
Chapter 101: 101 | Possessing The Saber-Tooth Tiger Cub
"What of the Saber-tooth tiger’s pups?"
Andrew suddenly asked and everyone froze.
"The saber-toothed tiger cubs!" John’s expression changed. "They’ll escape!"
Without another word, the entire team sprinted back toward the battlefield.
As they ran, every now and then someone secretly glanced at Andrew.
Their gazes were no longer those of teammates looking at a rookie. They were looking at a complete monster.
Andrew simply pretended not to notice.
A few minutes later, they reached the corpse of the elite saber-toothed tiger.
The two cubs hadn’t gone anywhere.
Completely unaware that their mother had died, the tiny saber-toothed tiger cubs were still happily chewing on the remains of the three-horn deer.
Jasmine immediately rushed over and picked one up in her arms. "Aww..." Her eyes shining bright like a diamond.
The cub was unbelievably adorable. Its soft golden fur was warm to the touch, and instead of growling or struggling, it simply nestled comfortably against her chest, purring.
With humans ability to pet anything cute, dangerous or not, Jasmine couldn’t resist gently caressing it body and rubbing its tiny nose with her finger.
The little cub playfully pawed at her hand before curling up on her bosom, making the usually energetic girl look surprisingly gentle.
Beside her, Lucy’s cold expression twitched almost imperceptibly. Even she had to admit they were incredibly cute.
Michael noticed the subtle change in her expression while carrying the other cub in his own arms. A grin spread across his face.
"You want to hold one, don’t you?"
Lucy immediately turned away. "No."
Everyone burst into laughter. They all knew Lucy far too well. Despite always acting cold and emotionless, she was actually the soft-hearted one of the group.
Michael simply chuckled. Without asking again, he walked over and placed the cub into her arms.
"I don’t..." Lucy instinctively tried to refuse.
But Michael insisted. "Just hold it."
After hesitating for a few seconds, she finally sighed. "...Fine."
The moment the fluffy cub settled into her embrace, her icy expression melted almost instantly.
A faint smile blossomed across her face as she gently stroked the cub’s soft fur. The little beast happily rubbed its head against her hand, making the smile on her face grow even brighter.
The others exchanged amused glances. They had expected exactly this reaction.
Meanwhile, John walked toward the corpse of the enormous saber-toothed tiger.
With a wave of his hand, his storage ring flashed. The massive beast disappeared instantly into the ring.
After storing it away, John turned toward the group. "Alright. We need to leave immediately. The battle with the saber-toothed tiger definitely attracted attention."
Everyone nodded. Without wasting another second, they began moving through the forest.
However, only a short distance later, Andrew’s expression changed slightly.
Through his Omniscient Perception detection range, he saw a massive group of monsters charging through the forest nearly a kilometer away.
His pupils contracted.
The Iron-Hide Monkey Horde. One hundred. No, nearly two hundred of them. They were moving straight toward their location.
Andrew frowned deeply. They had already changed directions several times while escaping, yet somehow the monkeys were still following them perfectly.
"They’re tracking us..." he immediately realized. This wasn’t random wandering. The monkeys possessed some method of following their trail.
Perhaps by scent, perhaps through another ability. Whatever the method was, it was working.
Worse still, everything unfortunate enough to appear in the monkeys’ path was being slaughtered mercilessly.
The weakest among them were around Level 10. The strongest was the Iron-Hide Monkey King. A terrifying Level 35 Three-Star Elite Beast.
Unlike ordinary elite monsters, a Three-Star Elite possessed roughly three times the combat ability of a normal elite creature of the same level.
Andrew knew one thing immediately. If that horde caught up with them, everyone here would die.
As he rapidly considered possible escape routes, John’s voice suddenly interrupted his thoughts. "Everyone."
The group stopped walking. John looked toward Andrew. "I think we can all agree on one thing. Andrew saved our lives today."
Silence fell as five pairs of eyes locked in on Andrew. Andrew looked at John blankly. He hadn’t expected this development.
John continued. "If Andrew hadn’t stepped in, Michael would have died. And once Michael died, the rest of us probably wouldn’t have survived either." He smiled. "So I think one of the tiger cubs should belong to Andrew."
No one in the group spoke.
Then Michael was the first to nod. "I agree."
Jasmine smiled warmly. "I agree too."
Klen shrugged casually. "He saved Michael. That’s enough reason for me."
Only Lucy hesitated. She looked down at the cub in her arms before speaking thoughtfully. "Wouldn’t it be fairer to simply give him half the value of one cub instead? After all, we all contributed everything we had to kill the saber-toothed tiger."
John shook his head firmly. "No. Either we give him an entire cub, or we don’t give him anything."
Lucy thought quietly for several moments. Finally, she sighed. "...Fine. If Andrew hadn’t saved Michael, most of us would’ve died anyway. I agree."
Everyone smiled. John looked toward Andrew. "Go ahead. Choose whichever cub you want."
The two cubs were gathered together. One of them looked noticeably smaller and thinner than the other. Its movements were sluggish, and its body appeared somewhat frail. The other one looked healthy and energetic.
Without hesitation, Andrew pointed toward the weakest cub. "I’ll take that one."
The group frowned. John looked confused. "Are you sure? You don’t have to force yourself. You’ve earned the right to choose. If you want the strongest cub, nobody here will object."
Andrew smiled and shook his head. "That’s not the reason. The weak one is enough for me."
Seeing his insistence, nobody argued further.
Lucy reluctantly hugged the cub one last time before handing it over. "There..." She looked almost reluctant to let go.
Andrew smiled and accepted the little beast carefully. The moment it settled into his arms, he was slightly surprised as he muttered.
"...It’s softer than I expected."
