Chapter 37: Chapter 37: A student who seeks to drive Taliah crazy.

The transport finally entered the campus and the students began to get off, so Draven did the same while Taliah positioned herself at his side.

Draven looked around, since there were hundreds of people where he could recognize a few faces.

In the distance he saw a young man whom Sam knew as a secondary character from a military route.

Farther ahead he distinguished an elf girl who appeared in several missions related to technology.

He couldn’t hear what they were saying, but he knew who they were.

’So they really are here.’

Taliah looked at him.

"What’s wrong?"

"Nothing."

"You’re staring too much."

"I’m trying to memorize the place."

"We just arrived."

"I like being prepared."

They started walking toward the area where the welcome speech would take place.

There were signs distributed all over the campus and also employees directing students.

Draven was observing one of the buildings when a female voice interrupted.

"Taliah."

She stopped and Draven did too.

A young woman was walking toward them, one who had long, completely black hair that she wore loose, while her eyes were a very intense light green.

She also wore large black hoops in both ears while her clothes were elegant, so everything about her conveyed care and confidence.

The young woman stopped in front of Taliah.

"So you really came."

Taliah answered.

"That usually happens when one is enrolled."

The young woman smiled.

"I see you’re still just as boring."

"And you still talk too much."

"I thought after several years you’d improve."

"I thought the same of you."

Draven observed the exchange.

’So they know each other.’

The young woman moved a little closer.

"I heard about Fernus."

Taliah’s expression shifted slightly, so the girl continued.

"So now you have something new to talk about."

There was no reaction from Taliah, so the young woman smiled.

"I must admit I expected a less dramatic entrance."

Taliah didn’t take the bait, so the young woman seemed disappointed.

"You used to get angry faster."

"I learned to ignore you."

"How boring."

Then her eyes moved toward Draven, she observed him for several seconds and afterward looked at Taliah again.

"And him?"

Taliah raised an eyebrow.

"What about him?"

The young woman pointed slightly at Draven.

"Why did you bring one of your servants?"

There was silence.

Draven’s eyes widened and Taliah’s expression changed completely.

"What did you say?"

The young woman smiled and for the first time seemed satisfied.

"Ah."

Taliah took a step.

"Repeat what you said."

Draven raised a hand.

"Taliah, calm down."

"No."

"It’s fine."

"No, it’s not fine."

The young woman observed both of them.

"So I finally managed to make you angry."

Taliah ignored her.

"Apologize."

"Why?"

"Because he’s not my servant."

The young woman looked at Draven again, who decided to intervene before things got worse.

"I’m Draven Dunvyr..."

The young woman fell silent.

"...nice to meet you."

She waited and then raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Dunvyr."

"That’s right."

She waited again, but Draven already knew what she was doing.

"And that’s all?"

"Yes, that’s all."

The young woman let out a small laugh and Taliah frowned.

"What’s so funny?"

"Nothing."

The girl looked at Draven.

"I simply don’t know that last name."

Draven smiled slightly.

"You don’t have to know it."

"Then it doesn’t belong to any important family."

Taliah took another step and Draven stopped her by lightly holding her arm.

"Taliah, wait."

"She’s insulting you."

"I noticed."

"Then let me go."

"I don’t want you to do something crazy."

The young woman seemed to be enjoying herself.

"You still have curious tastes."

Taliah clenched her teeth while Draven kept his hand on her arm.

"Leave her."

The young woman adjusted her hair slightly.

"It was a pleasure to see you again."

Taliah answered.

"I can’t say the same."

The girl looked at Draven.

"And I suppose it was also interesting to meet you."

"I suppose."

She smiled and then began to walk away while Taliah watched her.

"I’m going to make her apologize."

Draven released her arm.

"There’s no need."

"Yes there is."

"I already noticed that."

Taliah kept looking at the young woman and Draven did too, since he knew perfectly well who she was.

’Rovina Calvessen.’

In the video game she was one of the characters associated with the historic families of Aster.

The Calvessens descended from Sarah Calvessen, one of the heroines who had participated in the defeat of Elfin five hundred years ago.

Sarah had been the main mage of the group.

Her mastery of magic was one of the reasons her family still retained enormous importance.

Rovina had inherited part of that talent and had also inherited an enormous opinion of herself.

In the game she was arrogant, classist, competitive and had a constant tendency to treat as inferiors those who didn’t belong to recognized families.

That was why part of the Valkaen community detested her, but another part...

Draven observed her back as she walked away.

’Well.’

Rovina’s design had always been quite popular, so Sam couldn’t deny either that the character had been attractive and now that he was seeing her in person.

’They definitely knew what they were doing when they designed her.’

Suddenly, Draven felt something, so he slowly turned his head and Taliah was looking at him.

"What?"

"Why are you staring at her so much?"

Draven blinked.

"I wasn’t staring at her that much."

"Yes you were."

"I was just thinking."

"Staring at her fixedly."

"I said thinking."

"Staring at her while you thought."

Draven fell silent and Taliah narrowed her eyes.

"Do you think she’s pretty?"

Draven felt that any answer could make the situation worse.

"That doesn’t matter."

"That doesn’t answer what I asked you."

"We have to get to the speech."

"Draven."

"We’re going to be late."

Taliah followed him.

"Don’t change the subject."

"I’m not changing anything."

"Yes you are."

Draven walked faster and Taliah positioned herself beside him.

"I’m just saying you were staring at her."

"Because she had just insulted me."

"After she left."

"I was analyzing my enemy."

Taliah fell silent and Draven looked toward her.

"What?"

"That was a terrible excuse."

"But it worked."

"No, not even a little."

"Then we’ll pretend it did."

Taliah sighed and they continued advancing, so Draven went back to observing the campus.

The main story was much closer, but now there were also new variables and the one that mattered most was Elfin.

Draven brought a hand to his chest for a few seconds and then lowered it, since it wasn’t the moment to think about that.

In front of them they could already see the place where hundreds of students were beginning to gather.

The welcome speech was about to begin, so Draven breathed slowly, since his first day at the academy had just started.
