Chapter 34: Notifications

Rael’s consciousness faded.

When he next opened his eyes, even a little, he felt himself falling. He had no idea how many days had passed since the fight with Aurelia, or how long he had remained inside the Dream Realm. Distorted lights flashed around him. Space itself seemed to bend and twist.

How much time has passed? he wondered. Time and space are folding together.

He tried to piece the memories back together. The brutal fight. How close she had come to killing him. Then those strange lines of text that had appeared just as he was about to die—something about a cursed fate.

He turned his head toward the direction of the fall and saw a white light, a hole in the darkness. His body was being pulled straight toward it. He crossed the threshold.

Darkness.

He gasped a long, sharp breath and slowly opened his eyes.

I can see.

He was lying in his own room—the same small apartment he had left behind before being transferred to the Dream Realm. He was alive. He pinched his cheek hard. Pain flared. It was real.

The first thing that filled his vision was a wall of system notifications.

So many notifications appeared at once that he felt overwhelmed. He was still lying on the bed, staring at the new features.

First, a completely new System 2.0—something no one else possessed. Second, he now had permanent skills from his new main class, Infernomancer. It was no longer a temporary copied class. His original Copy class had also upgraded to Analyze (E-Rank). Somehow he had even retained Conceal, Aurelia’s bloodline skill, without any time limit. Third, there was a new reward system that granted bonuses for completing impossible feats. Fourth—and perhaps most important—he could now raise skill mastery through use and understanding alone, without spending souls. They are all unheard of. He checked his Status screen to make sure what he seen just now is real or not.

The status window itself had changed a great deal. It looked cleaner, more detailed, and completely different from before.

He cleared the last of the notifications and finally looked around the room. The ceiling was the same, yet something felt off. His blue blanket had somehow become pink. The place was far too clean. He used to leave empty food boxes and clothes scattered across the floor. None of that was here. He had expected the apartment to reek after so much time without care, but the air was fresh.

Then he felt something was on his chest then he turned his head to the side.

A beautiful naked girl with a black ponytail lay beside him, her hairs were covering her delicate features and her body pressed against his, arms wrapped around him in a quiet hug.

Rael stared.

"What the fuck."
