Chapter 300: An Uninvited Guest(GT Bonus Chapter.)
"This..." Dun muttered in shock, leaning forward slightly as he examined the materials with growing astonishment.
Some of them he recognized immediately as extremely rare magical materials, but there were others among the collection Dun couldn’t place at all.
Despite his years of research, he’d never encountered anything quite like them. Still, judging from the unusual auras they were emitting, he could tell they were far from ordinary.
His mind immediately began racing with possibilities.
What properties did these materials possess? How would they react when combined with other ingredients? Could they be used to stabilize mana more efficiently? Would they help eliminate some of the limitations he had encountered in his current research?
The more he thought about it, the more excited he became.
For a moment, Dun almost forgot where he was.
He wanted nothing more than to take the materials back to his laboratory immediately and begin examining them.
However, he somehow managed to restrain himself.
After all, they were currently attending a housewarming party, and it would be rather inappropriate for him to abandon everything just to rush back to his research.
Dun took a moment to compose himself before clearing his throat.
"Thank you, Guild Master."
He lowered his head in a respectful bow.
"I’ll work hard to make sure I don’t disappoint the investment you’ve made in me."
His voice carried genuine sincerity.
Although Kael was considerably younger than him, Dun had long since stopped viewing him as an ordinary young Hunter.
To Dun, Kael was someone who had given him an opportunity he had almost given up on ever receiving.
Not only had Kael recognized the value of his research, but he had also provided him with resources and support that most researchers could only dream of.
More importantly, he had given Dun the freedom to pursue his ideas without constantly worrying about whether his work would be considered profitable enough to justify continuing.
That alone was something Dun valued immensely.
As far as he was concerned, Kael was someone worthy of his respect and loyalty.
Someone he would willingly dedicate his life’s work to supporting.
"You’re welcome," Kael replied.
He wasn’t particularly bothered by the bow, although he didn’t think Dun needed to be so formal about it.
"I’m sure you’ll put the materials to good use. With your skills, I believe you have a pretty bright future ahead of you."
Kael smiled.
"Honestly, I’m looking forward to seeing what else you’ll be able to create."
Hearing that, Dun couldn’t help smiling himself.
"Thank you, Guild Master."
And he meant it.
Even Dun was curious about just how far his research could go now.
In the past, he had always been forced to work within countless limitations. Whether it was a lack of funding, insufficient materials, or people who couldn’t understand the value of his ideas, there had always been something preventing him from pursuing his research to its fullest extent.
But things were different now.
Under Kael, he finally had the opportunity to explore possibilities that had previously seemed completely out of reach.
And with materials like these at his disposal, even he couldn’t predict what he might eventually accomplish.
After expressing his gratitude once more, Dun carefully stored all the items in his Inventory.
Kael waited until he was finished before shifting the conversation.
"Anyway, how’s the Guild coming along?"
At that, Joy straightened slightly.
"Things have been progressing quite smoothly, Guild Master."
She began explaining the recent developments within the Mothlight Guild.
According to her, many of the problems that had been troubling them over the past few days had finally been dealt with.
This was largely thanks to Varek.
With his shadows spread across different locations, they’d been able to track down the small-time thugs and troublemakers who’d been causing problems for the Guild.
Of course, that didn’t mean the entire problem was solved, they still hadn’t located the real mastermind behind the attacks.
But he’d expected as much. Whoever was behind these incidents had been careful enough to avoid exposing themselves directly, so finding them was never going to be as simple as catching a few troublemakers.
Still, removing the people carrying out their orders was already a good start.
Without those people constantly interfering with their operations, Joy had been able to focus on the Guild’s development again.
"That’s good," Kael replied after hearing Joy’s briefing on how things were currently going. "Keep an eye on the situation, though. I doubt the people behind everything will simply give up."
"Of course, Guild Master. I’ll make sure we remain cautious."
Kael nodded before turning toward Dun.
"And what about your research? How’s everything going on your end?"
Dun’s expression immediately brightened.
"Quite well, actually."
He began explaining the progress they had made recently.
With the Guild’s support, he had managed to recruit several talented researchers to assist him.
Although the team was still relatively small, the people he had gathered were capable, and their combined efforts had already begun producing results.
Their primary focus remained the improvement of the Mana Potion.
However, they were also working on several other research projects, exploring different ways to utilize magical materials and improve the effectiveness of existing products.
"We’ve made some promising progress with the Mana Potion," Dun explained. "There are still a few problems we need to solve, but I believe we’re getting close to another breakthrough."
"Oh?" Kael looked interested.
Dun nodded enthusiastically.
"Yes. Some of the ideas we’ve been testing have shown very encouraging results. If we can resolve the remaining issues, we should be able to make another significant improvement. And with these new resources, I believe we might be able to achieve even more."
Kael smiled.
"That’s good to hear."
Dun continued briefly discussing some of the other projects his research team had been working on.
Although Kael wasn’t particularly knowledgeable about the technical aspects of potion-making, he listened carefully and occasionally asked questions whenever something caught his attention.
From what he could understand, everything seemed to be progressing in the right direction.
The Guild’s operations were becoming more stable, its recruitment process was moving forward, and Dun’s research was showing promising results.
There were still problems that needed to be addressed, of course, especially the unknown people who had been targeting Mothlight.
But overall, Kael was satisfied.
At least things were developing according to plan.
However, just as he was about to continue the conversation, a sudden commotion reached his ears from the living room.
"Hm?"
Kael turned his head.
The noise wasn’t particularly loud, but it was noticeable enough to catch his attention.
Several people seemed to be talking excitedly about something, and the conversations around that part of the house had grown considerably louder.
Kael frowned slightly.
What was going on?
"Excuse me for a moment," he said to Joy and Dun.
"Of course, Guild Master," Joy replied.
Kael nodded before making his way toward the source of the commotion.
As he approached the living room, he noticed that quite a few guests had gathered near the entrance.
Others were standing farther away, whispering among themselves while occasionally glancing toward someone in the middle of the crowd.
Kael followed their gazes.
The moment he saw who was standing there, his expression changed.
What the...
It was a familiar face, a very familiar face, in fact.
Vice President Jonas.
The Vice President of the Hunter Association.
Kael blinked, momentarily wondering if he was seeing things.
But there was no mistaking it.
The man standing in his living room was indeed Vice President Jonas.
Unlike the formal appearance Kael was accustomed to seeing, Jonas was dressed rather casually today.
However, even without his usual attire, there was no hiding the imposing presence he naturally carried.
He stood calmly among the guests, seemingly unbothered by the attention he was receiving.
The people around him, on the other hand, were anything but calm.
Many had clearly recognized him, their expressions ranging from surprise to outright disbelief.
After all, someone of Jonas’s position wasn’t the sort most ordinary Hunters expected to run into at a housewarming party. He was one of the highest-ranking figures in the Hunter Association, a man whose influence reached far beyond anything most people dealt with in their daily lives. And yet, here he was, standing in the middle of a private celebration.
Naturally, the guests couldn’t help wondering what someone like him was doing here.
Kael was wondering the exact same thing.
Why is he here?
He certainly hadn’t expected the Vice President to show up at his housewarming party.
However, before he could think any further, Jonas suddenly turned his head.
His gaze swept across the room before eventually landing on Kael.
The moment he spotted him, a smile appeared on his face.
"Ah, there you are!"
Jonas looked genuinely pleased to have found him.
"I’ve been looking for you."
