SSS-Rank Awakening: My Talent Multiplies Everything
Chapter 250: Dealing With Problems [2.]
Meanwhile, Morrison had already left the guard behind.
He continued walking deeper into the darkness, the lights and sounds of the club gradually fading behind him with every step. The music became distant, the voices disappeared, and soon the only thing surrounding him was the quiet of the night.
Eventually, Morrison stopped.
His drunken gaze wandered around before settling on a parked car.
More specifically, one of its tires.
"Perfect."
Apparently, that was the best place he could find.
Without giving the matter any more thought, Morrison immediately unzipped his pants and began relieving himself against the tire.
Time passed.
Once he was finished, Morrison pulled himself together and zipped his pants back up. He let out a satisfied breath, feeling considerably more comfortable than before.
But then he paused.
Something felt wrong.
Morrison looked around.
"Is it supposed to look like this?"
His brows slowly furrowed.
He was a little more sober now, and that allowed him to notice something he hadn’t paid attention to before.
The lights from the club were gone, and so was the music, the voices, everything. All that surrounded him now was darkness.
Even the sky seemed unnaturally dark. There was no moonlight, no visible stars, nothing illuminating the area around him.
His drunken expression slowly changed.
"What... is going on?"
A faint movement came from somewhere in the darkness, causing Morrison to freeze as his heart suddenly began pounding.
"Who’s there?"
His voice trembled despite his attempt to sound authoritative.
"Show yourself!"
As if responding to his words, a figure slowly stepped out of the shadows, causing Morrison’s eyes to widen.
The figure was humanoid, but the darkness surrounding it made it impossible to make out any proper features.
Morrison instinctively backed away.
"Who are you?"
The figure didn’t answer his question. Instead, a cold voice emerged from beneath the darkness.
"This is a message from my Master."
Morrison’s expression stiffened.
The figure continued.
"For the crime of laying your hands on the young miss, you have been condemned to death."
The shadow figure raised one hand.
"Now accept your punishment."
Morrison’s face turned pale.
"You..."
His fear quickly transformed into anger.
"Who is your master?"
He pointed at the figure with a trembling finger.
"Do you even know who I am? I’m Morrison! Do you know who my father is? If you touch me, you’ll regret it!"
The threats continued as he tried to invoke his family’s influence and everything else he believed could save him, but the figure didn’t react at all. It simply continued its actions without paying his words any attention, causing fear to grip Morrison completely.
"Wait," he said, taking another step backward, "let’s talk about this."
The figure remained silent.
Morrison suddenly turned his head toward the direction he had come from.
"Guard!" His voice echoed through the darkness.
"Guard!" he screamed again, yet there was still no response.
By now, Morrison had nearly wet himself from fear. It was obvious no one was coming to save him, but it was already too late for him to do anything, Varek had already made his move.
With a single motion of his hand, the surrounding darkness surged forward.
A thick plume of shadow erupted from the ground and rushed toward Morrison.
"What..."
The shadow engulfed him before he could finish the word.
It poured into his body through every available opening, flooding into his mouth and nostrils before spreading throughout his body.
Morrison’s eyes widened in terror as he tried to scream, but the sound was muffled beneath the darkness.
Inside his body, the shadow began to change as tiny creatures formed within it. They resembled insects made entirely from darkness, countless small shapes crawling through his flesh and spreading throughout his body.
Then they began to feed.
They tore through him from the inside.
Morrison’s body convulsed violently as unbearable pain consumed him. The shadows deliberately moved slowly, giving him no escape and allowing the punishment to continue.
Varek simply stood there.
His expression remained completely indifferent.
He watched without the slightest change in his face as Morrison’s body gradually disappeared beneath the mass of shadows.
The screams eventually grew weaker until there was nothing left, Morrison’s body had been completely consumed.
Only then did Varek finally move. He slowly lowered his hand as the surrounding darkness began to retreat, the unnatural Domain fading until the parking lot gradually returned to normal.
The distant lights of the club reappeared, and the music returned, everything looked exactly as it had before, except now Morrison was gone.
Varek’s figure slowly faded into the darkness, and a moment later, he had disappeared completely from the scene, as if he had never been there to begin with.
---
At almost the same time, far from that parking lot, inside a luxurious mansion, another assassination was taking place.
On the top floor of the enormous residence, a beautifully decorated room was illuminated by soft lighting.
A woman dressed in a night robe paced back and forth across the room.
Her phone was gripped tightly in one hand.
Every few seconds, she glanced down at the screen.
She stopped before a massive floor-to-ceiling window.
Beyond the glass, the city stretched into the distance, its lights glittering beneath the night sky.
The woman stared outward.
"Why hasn’t he called back yet?"
It was Lady Angela.
Today was the day she and Morgan had agreed to put their plan into motion.
By now, she should have received good news, but her phone remained silent, and when she tried calling, it wasn’t connecting.
Angela looked down at the screen again.
She was so focused on it that she failed to notice something moving beneath the door.
A flat layer of shadow silently slipped into the room.
It crawled across the floor without making the slightest sound, moving behind her before slowly rising from the ground.
Then the shadow began to take shape, a tall humanoid figure emerging, its hands molded into sharp blades.
Just then, Angela finally sensed something. She turned, her eyes widening as she saw the figure standing behind her, but she was already too late.
The shadow construct swung its arm in a single clean motion, and Angela’s head was severed from her body, her body collapsing beside the window.
The shadow construct didn’t linger. Its form flattened once again and slipped beneath the door, disappearing from the room without leaving any trace behind.
---
Elsewhere within the same mansion, another shadow was already moving.
Marcus was lying peacefully on his bed.
After receiving proper medical treatment, the injuries Kael had inflicted on him inside the rift had completely healed.
He was asleep, completely unaware of what had happened elsewhere in the mansion. Just then, a thin layer of shadow silently slipped into his room.
It moved across the floor, gathering beside the bed before forming into another humanoid shadow. Without hesitation, its hand pierced through his back and emerged from his chest.
Marcus’s eyes snapped open from the pain, but no sound escaped him as his body went limp. With that, the shadow withdrew its hand.
Marcus was already dead.
The construct didn’t stay behind to admire its work.
Its body immediately dissolved back into shadow and slipped out of the room.
Outside, the mansion remained peaceful as guards continued patrolling the halls. Everything appeared completely normal.
Yet within that quiet mansion, the two people who had once controlled the entire household were already dead.
And none of the people still walking through those halls knew it.
