Chapter 221: The Lonely Supreme Being [2.]

"What the hell is going on now?" Kael muttered, his brows furrowing as he looked around in complete confusion.

He was beginning to question his own sanity because none of this made any sense.

One moment, he had been fighting the monk. The next, he had lost consciousness, and now he was floating somewhere in the middle of what appeared to be an endless void.

Before he could make sense of anything, the towering supreme entity suddenly stopped, its brows slowly furrowing as its gaze shifted toward Kael’s position, those unfathomable eyes settling on him.

Kael’s expression changed in an instant.

Suddenly, the entity blinked, and space folded. Then it was gone.

Kael’s pupils contracted as the enormous figure suddenly appeared directly before him. There had been an immeasurable distance between them only a moment ago, yet the being had crossed it so effortlessly that Kael hadn’t even been able to perceive the movement.

Dread immediately seized his entire body.

Now that the entity was this close, Kael could finally comprehend just how massive it truly was.

Massive was an understatement.

The being was simply mind-blowing in size, its towering form stretching beyond what Kael’s mind could properly process.

The pressure radiating from its body pressed down on him like a physical weight, and his instincts screamed at him to run, for he stood no chance whatsoever.

Yet where and how was he supposed to run, when there was nothing beneath his feet?

Kael’s eyes lowered slightly.

He was floating in the vacuum of space.

There was no ground to push against, no wall to leap from, nothing he could use to propel himself forward.

He was simply suspended in the endless darkness like fresh meat hanging in front of a starving predator, completely helpless and waiting to be devoured.

The supreme entity reached toward him.

Then suddenly stopped.

Its enormous hand halted just before reaching Kael, as though it had struck something invisible.

Kael froze.

For a brief moment, neither he nor the entity moved.

Then Kael felt the pressure around him shift.

There was something between them.

A barrier.

He couldn’t see it, but the entity clearly could, because its hand remained suspended against an invisible wall separating them.

Kael slowly exhaled.

"Thank god."

Relief washed over him.

It seemed he had been saved. Whatever this invisible barrier was, it was strong enough to prevent even this terrifying existence from reaching him.

Or so he thought.

The supreme entity slowly withdrew its hand before fixing its gaze upon Kael once more.

"You..."

The voice was deep enough to make the surrounding void tremble.

"You are not supposed to be here."

Kael’s expression stiffened.

Before he could even process those words, the supreme entity pulled its enormous arm backward.

Then it punched.

BOOM!

A colossal explosion of golden light erupted the instant its fist collided with the invisible barrier.

Space itself trembled violently as golden energy spread across the surface of the barrier, causing ripples to travel through the unseen structure like waves across the surface of a massive lake.

Yet there was no crack, the barrier remained intact.

Kael’s shoulders loosened slightly, but his expression remained grim, that punch had been terrifying.

The barrier had survived, but Kael couldn’t help wondering how long it could continue to do so?

The strength behind that attack had been completely absurd. If the entity continued punching it, who was to say it wouldn’t eventually break through?

And more importantly, who knew what else this supreme entity was capable of?

Kael needed to get away.

The problem was that he didn’t even know where he was.

How had he gotten here in the first place?

He remembered fighting the monk. He remembered the battle. He remembered taking injuries and eventually losing consciousness, but after that, everything became a blank.

Had he died?

Was this some kind of afterlife?

Kael immediately dismissed the thought.

Nothing about this place gave him the feeling that he was dead, but then what exactly was this place? Why had he been brought here? Why was this supreme entity here? And most importantly, how the hell was he supposed to get back?

BANG!

Another explosion shook the void as the supreme entity’s fist slammed into the barrier again.

This time, something changed. Kael’s eyes widened, a thin crack had appeared, and his expression immediately turned grim.

"Damn it."

The barrier had cracked.

He needed to find a way out before the entity destroyed it completely, but how was he supposed to escape when he didn’t even understand where he was, let alone how he had arrived here?

BANG!

Another punch.

The crack spread.

BANG!

Another.

More fractures appeared across the invisible barrier.

The supreme entity didn’t slow down. Its enormous fists continued hammering against the barrier with terrifying consistency, each impact sending another violent tremor through the surrounding space.

Crack.

Crack.

Crack.

The fractures continued spreading until they covered the barrier from one end to the other.

What had once been an invisible wall now looked like a gigantic pane of glass that had been struck repeatedly, its surface covered in countless cracks with the pieces seemingly held together by nothing more than a final thread of strength.

Kael stared at it.

His heartbeat accelerated.

The supreme entity slowly pulled its fist backward.

Kael’s pupils contracted.

He knew what was coming.

That feeling in his gut told him that this next attack would be different.

"Is this it?"

The thought escaped him in a whisper.

"Am I really going to die here?"

Kael clenched his fists.

No.

He couldn’t die here.

Not now.

He had too much left to accomplish, people waiting for him, promises to keep, and things he still needed to change.

He couldn’t simply die in some unknown corner of the universe without even understanding what had happened.

The supreme entity’s fist came forward.

BANG!

The impact was catastrophic.

The barrier finally gave way.

It shattered like glass, countless fragments of translucent energy exploding outward as the force behind the supreme entity’s punch continued forward without slowing.

A gigantic wave of golden energy surged toward Kael.

It was less like an attack and more like a destructive tsunami consuming everything in its path.

Kael’s entire body went cold. He couldn’t dodge, there was nowhere to run, the golden wave was already upon him.

Then a voice suddenly echoed through the void.

"Seriously? Do you have a tendency for courting death or what?"

The voice sounded tired.

Annoyed.

Almost as though the situation unfolding before it was nothing more than an irritating inconvenience.

Kael’s eyes widened.

"What?"

Before he could even comprehend where the voice had come from, a small blob of light suddenly shot out from his chest.

It moved so quickly that Kael barely had time to register it before it flew directly toward the incoming wave of destructive golden energy.

BANG!

The two collided.

A violent explosion erupted in the void.

Golden energy surged in every direction, but instead of reaching Kael, it slammed against a newly formed golden barrier that had appeared between him and the destructive wave.

The barrier held.

Kael stared at it in shock.

"What the hell?"

He hadn’t even known that something was inside his body.

But there was no time to question it.

The supreme entity was already moving.
