"This worked better than expected.....!"

Lukas commented while shaking off the filth and grime that had remained stuck on his hands. It was only recently that he had started incorporating Sovereign grasp into his battle tactics.

Sovereign grasp was one of the earlier talents that he had acquired, yet it was also the one that he had used the least. However, for some reason, Lukas wanted to develop this talent. He had a feeling this ability would become amazing if he upgraded it enough.

Still, the monstrous chimera was not dead yet. After all, he had only managed to crush one of its heads.

Maybe it was rage, or maybe the monster was simply holding back, but the next moment, using terrifying strength, the monster freed itself from the ice block and lunged at Lukas once more. Its grotesque hand rose upward in a sweeping motion, the giant hand casting a suffocatingly large shadow over Lukas’s figure.

The monster’s intentions were clear.

It wanted to turn Lukas into a pancake.

However, Lukas reacted swiftly, allowing the punch to fall while his thoughts moved to the large iron rod further in the distance.

Sovereign Grasp!

Facing the giant once again, just at the last moment, the iron rod flew into his hands. Taking support of the iron rod, Lukas ducked down.

Screech!

The monster failed to react in time. Carried by its own momentum, the rod pierced through the monster’s palm, coming out from the other side.

"Roar!"

Its roar intensified.

Taking this opportunity, Lukas created some distance between the two parties.

Once the distance was enough, he used Sovereign grasp in quick succession to destroy the rest of the laughing faces.

Boom!

Once the last face was also destroyed, the monster died in a shower of blood.

"This was a very intense battle...!"

Lukas huffed and puffed, his chest rising up and down. Never before had he needed to exert himself this far. All the battles he had fought before were one-sided — either he dominated the monster, or he made a run for his life.

After wiping the few droplets of blood that had stained his clothes, Lukas turned his focus toward Natasha in the distance, only to be surprised.

Similar to him, she had also finished dealing with the two monsters.

Just as he was about to move in her direction, Lukas’s figure stiffened. Out of nowhere, he felt the presence of something standing behind him.

Who...?

Lukas’s two eyes instinctively narrowed into slits.

Who could appear so close to him without him noticing anything?

A thought popped into his head.

Another monster?

This thought had barely appeared in his head when he quickly got rid of it. These monsters were too mindless to move in such a fashion.

Unable to hold back any longer, he turned his head, only to see a man standing in pure black clothing with a cynical smile staring at his face. When the man saw the shocked look in Lukas’s eyes, the smile on his face widened further.

Just then, the man opened his mouth to speak.

"You sure are powerful for someone just at the peak of sixth sequence. Very interesting. No wonder little Natasha recommended you..."

Lukas had barely heard half the sentence when alarm bells started ringing inside his head.

Only sixth sequence...?

This was the first time someone had actually judged his strength so accurately.

Just who in the world was this man?

He almost instantly wanted to use Phaseless Step to create distance between himself and the man when his figure suddenly stiffened.

Could this be the reinforcement that Natasha had talked about?

As if the man guessed his thoughts, a slightly surprised look flashed through his eyes.

"Impressive indeed. Not only are you talented, but you are intelligent as well. Just what my True Terror Department needed."

The man’s words caused Lukas’s confusion to increase even further.

True Terror Department?

What the hell was he even talking about?

Even though Lukas did not speak, his confusion was quite clear to everyone.

It was also at this time that Natasha came running. Upon noticing the man, she let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank god, Vice Head, you are finally here..."

These words caused the expression of the man to turn a complete one-eighty.

"Of course, my sweetheart. How can I not come when it was you who called me...?"

The man said it in the sweetest way possible, but Natasha reacted as if she had not heard those words at all.

"With you finally here, I am relieved."

"Yeah, now we can together head back to headquarters once we take care of this matter."

Natasha, however, shook her head.

"How is this possible, Vice Head? This matter is clearly very serious. It should be easy for you to deal with such a thing. We will leave while you do your work."

Lukas was about to intervene when Natasha mentioned leaving. He was not going anywhere until he found his sister.

It was at this time that he saw the man shake his head.

"Just a little Church of the One Above All? Do you think it is worth my trouble?"

Then Lukas saw something that he would never forget for the rest of his life.

Flick.

He saw the mysterious man flick his wrist, and the world around him changed.

The eerie environment, the rotten blood painting the streets, even the suffocating pressure bearing down on the entire city — all of it disappeared.

One by one, the butchered corpses turned into particles of light, dissolving into the air.

Whatever monster had been plaguing the city was destroyed by the mere flick of that man’s wrist.

This power...!

Lukas’s mind shook once he fully comprehended what had actually happened.

To make a city-wide distortion vanish with a snap of a finger — just what kind of godly power did this man possess?

Just as he was thinking, suddenly he remembered something.

What about Rosy? Now where will I find her...?

The man flicked his wrist again, and Lukas felt the space around him ripple like a glass curtain. Then a figure appeared.

It was none other than Rosy, Lukas’s younger sister.

However, compared to when he had first seen her, she looked completely different — pale and cracked lips, skin so thin that it had lost its life, and her long flowing hair turned into something coarse and rough.

Lukas’s heart ached.

He took one step forward and instantly caught her, gently supporting her and preventing her from falling.

In the condition she was in now, she was in no state to remain standing.

Next, the man turned to Lukas and said,

"Unfortunately, I could not save your parents. We were just too late. If only we had been a few minutes earlier, the amount of life we could have saved would have been amazing..."

The man shook his head in disappointment, looking all eager to save as much life as possible.

However, at this time, the atmosphere and the look in his eyes made it difficult for others to believe the words that came out of his mouth. His words felt hollow, as if he did not really care about the people, but only about saving them.

Lukas, however, felt nothing to this tragic news.

For obvious reasons, he did not care about the fate of his parents, and neither did the original lingering obsession.

The reason was unknown.

Maybe, in the original owner’s heart, his only real family had been his younger sister.

It was at this time Natasha approached closer and said, while scanning Rosy’s figure with a slightly pained look in her eyes. She could tell Lukas genuinely cared about this little girl. Seeing him in distress also caused her heart to feel suffocated.

She said softly at this moment,

"Just give her enough time. She will return to her original state..."

Lukas did not react, but focused on making sure there was nothing wrong with Rosy.

It was only after doing so that he turned to Natasha and asked just who was responsible for this.

Of course, he wanted to know just what sort of monster could turn an entire city into a slaughterhouse.

"Yeah, you should already know. It was probably a Terror-grade monster that had managed to invade the real world."

Lukas’s eyes rippled.

He was not all-knowing, but he knew a few things about Terror-grade star monsters.

While humans who broke through the third sequence were known as Titanic Beings, star monsters of the same grade were called Terrors.

Just a single Terror was enough to wipe out multiple human settlements in the blink of an eye.

These beings were also something that posed great danger to Earth.

While smaller star monster kings could be contained, once a Terror managed to invade, the damage they caused was mind-bending.

Still one thing he could not understand, why would a terror target a small city like his, the city had nothing that could entice a terror.
