Chapter 61: The First Teammate

Luna remembered the stunning "Luck" outcome in the church.

She remembered Aiden’s coldness and overwhelming strength when facing their enemies.

And most of all, she remembered the certainty in his voice when he had said, "Together."

Almost without hesitation, the voice deep within her that yearned to be accepted, that desperately longed to no longer be alone, urged her to nod.

She nodded vigorously.

Although her voice still carried a trace of timidity, there was an unmistakable firmness within it.

"I... I am willing!" Luna looked up at him, tears shimmering in her purple eyes. But this time, they weren’t tears of fear or sadness. They were tears of excitement and determination.

"Sir Aiden, I am willing to join! I... I’ll work hard to control the dice. I won’t hold you back!" Her feminine hands clenched tightly. "I... I want to survive with you!"

Hearing the way she addressed him, Aiden was slightly taken aback.

’Sir Aiden...

The title immediately reminded him of Brother Aiden.

Someone had called him that before.

Aiden remembered it clearly. He remembered the voice, the circumstances, and even the people who had once addressed him that way.

But what followed that memory was something he had long since buried deep within his heart. Coldness. Betrayal.

And the bitter realization that the trust he had placed in someone had ultimately been repaid with treachery.

The memory surfaced for only a moment before Aiden pushed it back down.

His expression quickly returned to its usual calm. He looked at the young girl before him, his gaze lingering on her for a brief moment.

For the first time since their meeting, there was no fear in her eyes. Only determination.

Something deep within the hardened, vengeful part of his heart seemed to quietly soften.

Aiden extended his hand. "Welcome to the team."

A faint, genuine smile appeared on his face.

"From today onward, we’re teammates."

Luna stared at his outstretched hand for a moment. Then she took a deep breath and carefully placed her still-chilly feminine hand into his.

She held it tightly. Neither of them realized it, but at that moment, something invisible was formed between them.

Not a formal contract. Not a binding skill. But a bond of trust.

On Aiden’s solitary road of revenge, there was finally someone whose back he could watch over...

And someone who could entrust her back to him. In this cold and merciless apocalypse, a faint trace of warmth had finally appeared.

Aiden released her hand and his expression soon returned to its usual calm and composure.

"Since we’re teammates now, I need to establish an initial growth path for you."

Luna immediately straightened and listened attentively.

"Your class is extremely powerful, but your body is fragile, and the backlash from using your class carries an extremely high risk. Until you gain sufficient control, your first priority isn’t power."

Aiden paused. "It’s survival and adaptation."

Luna nodded seriously.

"First, your mindset." Aiden looked directly at her.

"You need to completely abandon the idea that you’re a ’jinx.’ The Heavenly Karmic Dice is not a curse. It’s a part of you, and potentially your greatest weapon."

His voice was firm. "Don’t fear it. Don’t resent it. Learn to communicate with it. Try to sense its fluctuations and understand its patterns instead of simply waiting passively for the result."

Luna nodded thoughtfully. She had never considered her class from that perspective before.

"Second, survival ability." Aiden continued.

"You need basic means of protecting yourself. I’ll teach you fundamental combat techniques and evasive maneuvers. I don’t expect you to kill enemies."

His expression became serious. "But if danger comes, you need to be capable of buying yourself enough time to maneuver or escape."

"At the same time, when allocating your attribute points, prioritize Constitution and Spirit during the early stages."

"Constitution will increase your health and defensive capabilities, while Spirit will improve your mana reserves and help you maintain better control over your class."

Luna listened carefully, committing every word to memory.

"Finally, the use of your class."

Aiden’s tone became noticeably more serious. "Until your mental power and control reach the required level, you’re forbidden from actively rolling the dice unless absolutely necessary."

His gaze sharpened. "Especially the Scarlet and Pitch-Black dice."

Luna instinctively shuddered.

"When you’re operating alongside me, if you believe you need to use your class, obtain my consent first. Whenever possible, prioritize the Gray-White dice for low-risk judgments."

Luna nodded repeatedly. The growth path Aiden had designed for her revolved around one principle above all else. Stability.

There would be no reckless attempts to force her class to grow.

No unnecessary risks. No gambling with her life simply because her class possessed terrifying potential.

Everything was centered on keeping her alive while gradually helping her adapt to and control her power.

For Luna’s current condition, it was undoubtedly the safest and most suitable path.

She could feel the protection and responsibility hidden behind every word.

"I understand, Sir Aiden." Luna nodded solemnly. "I’ll strictly follow your instructions."

"Very good." Aiden nodded with satisfaction.

His gaze swept across their temporary shelter. The corner of the underground parking garage was still crude. A few portable lights illuminated the tables, chairs, food, and water they had arranged.

Yet somehow, it no longer felt quite as cold as before.

Perhaps it was because there was now someone else sitting beside him. Someone he had chosen to protect. Someone who had chosen to trust him.

For the first time in a very long while, this temporary shelter was beginning to resemble the faintest outline of a home.

He was no longer alone. His road of revenge... His long ascent toward godhood...

From this day onward, there would be someone walking that road alongside him.

Someone to whom he could entrust his back. Luna was incredibly weak right now.

But Aiden had no doubt that, given enough time, this fragile "Purple Lily" would bloom.

And when it did, its brilliance would surely shock the entire world.

"Rest." Aiden looked at her. "Starting tomorrow, we have a lot to do."

"Mm." Luna responded softly.

She leaned against the back of her chair, wrapped the blanket tightly around herself, and slowly closed her eyes.

This time, her brows were no longer furrowed. Her breathing gradually became slow and even.

For the first time since the apocalypse began, Luna fell asleep without fear.

Aiden remained near the entrance, sitting cross-legged as he kept watch.

While maintaining his vigilance, his mind began organizing the plans for tomorrow.

Find the next key person. Locate the Silas

And determine how to make the most efficient use of Luna’s "Lucky" outcomes to acquire the resources they needed.

The foundation of the team had been laid.

From this moment onward... Their journey was about to accelerate.
