SSS Awakening: In a New World with Dual God-Level Bloodlines
Chapter 74: Different Vorath Species?
BOOOM!
BOOOM!
BOOOM!
...
Like a true beast that had successfully cornered its prey, Rhett slowly walked around his opponent, searching for the perfect opportunity to attack.
Yet, Asher didn’t give him that time.
Her figure suddenly faded from where she stood, and from his perception, Rhett immediately sensed her presence appear behind him.
RIIIIIIIIIP!
The air parted as Asher withdrew the mana surrounding her legs, pouring it into her arms in the next instant. A large amount of mana covered both arms, taking the shape of enormous blades.
Mercilessly, she slashed downward toward Rhett’s back, slicing even the air apart.
CLLLLAAAAAAAANG!
The sound of two metallic objects clashing rang out as Rhett turned with horrifying speed, slashing out with his own claws.
BOOOOOOOOOM!
A shockwave erupted from their point of collision, sending both of them skidding backward.
Asher stopped after taking the fourth step before immediately shooting forward once more.
Although Rhett was still skidding backward, he immediately sent his tail piercing toward Asher.
She dodged with ease, her figure flickering past inches from the tail.
RSUUUUUSTLE!
The air rustled as she arrived before Rhett once more.
Her back arched as she raised her hands, and then...
SLAAAASSHSSHH!
She slashed toward Rhett’s head once more.
Rhett also slashed forward with his claws.
BAAAAAAAANG!
The air shook wildly as Rhett was sent flying into the distance, smashing his back against the barrier.
He quickly rose to all fours and looked ahead.
All he saw was a hand covered in mana pointing directly at his nose as Asher stared at him with an emotionless expression.
"The match has ended. Winner, Asher!"
Mrs. Lillith proclaimed.
The barrier surrounding them disappeared, and the mana oozing from Asher’s hand gradually dimmed as she lowered it.
Rhett also retreated from his opponent before slowly returning to his humanoid form.
"That was amazing..." Arlo whispered, his eyes filled with surprise.
He had just witnessed an entirely new application of mana and how a fully transformed Vorath could be defeated in such a manner.
"She became lethal because of her speed. Rhett could barely keep track of her movements," Arlo analyzed as his eyes remained fixed on Asher.
"She coats her legs in mana to increase her speed. When she wants to attack, she withdraws that mana from her legs and pours everything into her arms before casting a spell that makes the mana around them extremely sharp."
"But not only that, the momentum she gains while running is also transferred into her bladed hands before she slashes out at her opponent."
"She can also stop herself from continuously sliding backward by pouring mana into her legs once more, allowing her to quickly catch up to an opponent who has yet to stop themselves."
"That is superb..."
Vael’s jaw nearly dropped to the ground as he stared at Arlo.
"Is... is that what really happened? I never even noticed. You have quite a good pair of eyes, Arlo..." Vael praised.
Arlo merely shrugged.
"But I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t work in many other cases. Not every mage can easily shift mana from their legs directly into their hands within the span of a few seconds."
"That is why Asher is an anomaly!" Vael explained.
"Her bloodline allows her to shift mana around her body at a mind-blowing speed, and she can also cast those blade spells incredibly quickly.
"Not everyone can do that, at least not in this class..."
Arlo’s eyebrows creased as he listened, and he couldn’t help nodding.
Asher’s specialty lay in her ability to shift mana around her body with incredible speed, something not everyone could accomplish.
She could also form her bladed hands almost instantly, showing not only talent but consistency. Her blade technique had no doubt been practiced for countless years.
It wasn’t something many people could easily replicate.
But Arlo was definitely not one of those people.
With the body of a fallen angel and the magical abilities he had acquired from the Vorath, he would no doubt be capable of employing such techniques himself.
The possibility had simply never occurred to him before, and only now had he begun to see what else could be done with the mana within his body.
[Guess you still have a lot to learn.] the System said.
"That’s for sure..." Arlo replied as the class listened to Mrs. Lillith point out and correct the mistakes made by both Rhett and Asher.
Soon, the next matches began.
Around thirteen fights quickly took place, but one of them caused the entire class to fall to a crawling silence.
It was the fight between Emrys and another young man with bloodred hair.
A deep silence covered the entire room as the students stared at the two figures, the hearts of many beating rapidly as anticipation filled the place.
"I know that’s Emrys, but who is the other guy?" Arlo couldn’t help asking.
Vael had slight beads of sweat running down his face.
"That’s the second strongest person in our class. Emrys’s ultimate rival!" Vael replied, causing Arlo to furrow his eyebrows.
"His name is Christopher. A Vorath anomaly!"
"A Vorath anomaly?" Arlo repeated with a raised eyebrow.
"You just watch and see..."
As the two of them walked toward the center of the battle stage, Mrs. Lillith raised her hands toward them.
This time, the barrier that formed around their figures was three times stronger than normal.
"Even Mrs. Lillith strengthened the barrier for them. It shows she recognizes the strength of both of them..." Arlo mused to himself.
"You two can go absolutely all out without worry," Mrs. Lillith said.
The blood-red haired young man glanced at the barrier and smiled before turning back toward her.
"The barrier won’t hold..." he said.
The entire class sucked in a deep breath.
Multitudes of fights had already taken place, and not once had the barrier even rippled.
Yet, despite the barrier now being strengthened threefold, the red-haired young man was still saying it wasn’t enough!
"I’ll increase its strength when the time comes," Mrs. Lillith replied.
Chris simply shrugged helplessly before turning to look at Emrys.
Emrys’s arms were folded across his chest, yet unlike before, his eyes now carried a clear sense of anticipation.
"Ahhh, we really will be going all out, won’t we, Emrys..."
"I won’t be holding back," Emrys said as he slowly unfolded his arms.
Chris grinned wildly, his eyes filled with anticipation for the thrilling battle that was about to begin.
"It would be strange if you did. Fine then, let’s go all out," Chris replied.
All of a sudden, the air around his body began quivering violently, and then,
"KRRRRHHHH..."
A deep, monstrous growl escaped Chris’s clenched teeth as veins began appearing across his body, wriggling beneath his skin until they covered every inch of him.
His pale white skin gradually turned crimson as his body slowly enlarged, and before long, he stood at a towering height of two and a half meters.
His entire body was covered in bulging veins and dense muscles, and the sheer energy radiating from him caused the air around his figure to distort.
"Hehe."
"Heheheh."
"Heheheheheheh."
"Hehehehehehehehehe..."
What followed was the hearts of the students in the stands turning cold with fear as they watched Chris begin laughing like a devil.
And with his appearance in that moment, he truly looked no different from one.
"That is not a Vorath!?" Arlo exclaimed with absolute certainty as he turned toward Vael.
Vael’s eyes were also fixed blankly on Chris’s transformed figure, yet there was a gleaming light within them, revealing that he knew something Arlo didn’t.
"You know, Arlo, there are four Vorath settlements, and they all appear quite similar."
"The Vorath living within them are generally divided into two main classes, Warriors and Mages."
"But I heard there are two strange families among those settlements. The Alucard Family and the Gevaudan family."
"I... I never knew that" Arlo whispered, his eyebrows furrowing.
"Emrys is the third-ranked child prodigy of the Alucard Family, and the same can be said for Chris, who is the fourth-ranked child prodigy of the Gevaudan Family."
"Third-ranked? Fourth-ranked?" Arlo asked, not understanding the strange ranking.
"Those special families produce many child geniuses, so they rank them according to their estimated potential."
"I heard Chris is the fourth-ranked child prodigy of his family, while Emrys is the third-ranked prodigy of his.
"As for who holds the first and second ranks, the people who know can probably be counted on one hand. That information is kept completely secret."
"Even seeing Chris and Emrys here is already a big enough surprise," Vael explained at length.
Arlo nodded in understanding before turning back toward Chris.
"But why? Why doesn’t Chris even look like a Vorath?" he asked.
"That’s because of his family’s special bloodline. All members of the Gevaudan Family can transform like that.
"That is why they are referred to as anomalies, far stronger than regular Vorath."
"The Devil Gevaudan Form. I’ll honor your respect too, Chris," Emrys called out.
In the next instant, his body rapidly began changing.
Horns pierced out from both sides of his head as his body enlarged until he reached the same height as Chris.
Instead of veins spreading across his body, his muscles rapidly bulged and expanded, transforming his formerly average muscular build into something resembling the body of a Greek god.
His crimson hair also lengthened, flowing down his back like a waterfall.
CREEEEAAAAK!
The ground beneath Emrys began giving way, sinking nearly ten centimeters as though it could no longer withstand his weight.
"That’s his Vorath form!? It looks no different from his humanoid form!" Arlo mused aloud.
Other than the horns that had emerged from Emrys’s head and the increased muscularity, there was barely any visible difference between his transformed and humanoid forms.
Both he and Chris were strange, almost like they belonged to entirely different species of Vorath.
"Ready!" Mrs. Lillith called out.
