SSS Awakening: I Can Class Change at will
Chapter 734: Honeybun Vs B-Rank Jungle Boar Warrior
Moon knelt beside Honeybun and spoke through their connection.
_The big one’s yours. You will not get any help, this is your test. Show me how much you learnt so far, and don’t use that new skill of yours, otherwise, it won’t be fair.
Honeybun’s eyes gleamed, and its crystal shell began to form, the little turtle turning to face the five-meter mountain of muscle bearing down on it, utterly unafraid.
The apex boar lowered its head, its tusks aimed forward, and charged.
The apex boar charged, thundering across the clearing, the ground shaking with every step.
Honeybun charged back without an ounce of fear in his expression.
The size difference was absurd. A turtle no bigger than a puppy, launching itself directly at a behemoth many times its size. And yet the little turtle didn’t hesitate, didn’t flinch, closing the distance with startling speed.
They met in the center.
At the last instant, Honeybun leapt, its body rocketing upward to strike the boar square in the skull. The impact cracked through the clearing like a hammer blow, and to the shock of everyone watching, it was the boar that came off worse.
The massive beast’s head snapped back, its charge broken, and it staggered backward several meters, shaking its head in dazed confusion, its five-meter frame reeling from a strike delivered by something it could have swallowed whole in a single gulp.
Moon smiled, and couldn’t quite suppress a laugh.
The scene was comical. Honeybun, the size of a puppy, physically bullying a towering behemoth into retreat.
"That’s it, Honeybun! Push him!" Moon called out, cheering on the little turtle.
Five-Star Evolver strength packed into that tiny body. He hits like a beast ten times his size. Moon watched the turtle land and immediately reset for another exchange, already reading the boar’s recovery.
And look at that awareness. A day old, yet he fights with such intelligence. He understands combat in a way nothing his age should...by pure instinct.
The fight continued.
The boar recovered its footing and came again, enraged now, its tusks sweeping in brutal arcs. Honeybun met the attacks gracefully.
When the boar’s tusks came down, the turtle’s crystal shell turned them aside, the near-impervious surface refusing to yield. When it saw an opening, it launched crystal projectiles, peppering the boar’s flanks and legs, chipping away at the mountain of muscle piece by piece.
Physical strikes to break the boar’s rhythm, crystals to bleed it, its adaptive shell hardening further with every tusk that scraped against it.
But the boar was durable, with powerful regeneration capabilities.
Moon watched, not intervening, curious how Honeybun would solve it.
The turtle found the answer in a habit it had already been using.
Throughout the fight, whenever the boar charged, Honeybun had been ducking low and to the side, a quick evasive tuck that let the massive beast’s momentum carry it past. It had done it half a dozen times, a reliable dodge that the boar had come to expect. And on the seventh charge, Honeybun weaponized it.
The boar committed to another charge, anticipating the same low tuck, adjusting its angle to catch the turtle as it dodged. But this time, mid-tuck, Honeybun didn’t just evade.
As the boar’s head passed directly over it, its throat exposed and vulnerable at the peak of the charge, the little turtle twisted and fired a single, focused crystal spear straight upward.
The crystal punched into the boar’s throat, the one soft, unarmored point on its entire body, driving deep.
The behemoth’s charge collapsed into a stagger.
It skidded to a halt, choking, dark blood pouring from the wound, its throat torn open. Its strength drained visibly as its legs trembled. Wet gurgles of blood and shrill grunts escaped its throat.
In a final, desperate act, the boar gathered itself and attempted one last charge, lowering its tusks toward the turtle.
It failed.
Its wounded body wouldn’t answer, its legs buckling halfway through the motion, and Honeybun simply sidestepped the faltering lunge. As the boar stumbled past, the turtle loosed one more crystal spear into the same throat wound, and the killing blow ended it.
[You have killed the level 60 B-Rank Jungle Boar Warrior]
[You have gained 2,050 Lives]
Moon glanced at the notification with a smile on his face. Body-Refiner beasts always provided a lot of lives.
The five-meter apex boar crashed to the ground and went still.
With a massive grin on his face Moon walked over to the little turtle as its crystal shell receded back to smooth gold.
"That," he said, resting a hand on Honeybun’s head, "was beautiful. You baited it with your own habit. Turned the dodge it expected into the opening you needed... that’s really smart and cunning of you."
Honeybun nestled its head against his hand.
Across the clearing, Karl’s group was just finishing off the apex canine, and Karl had watched the boar fight out of the corner of his eye, his earlier suspicions now fully confirmed.
That turtle soloed the apex boar without a single injury to its body. Outsmarted it, even.
He shook his head slowly. Moon’s beasts aren’t just strong. They’re on a completely different level. I never stood a chance in that little competition of mine.
Despite that, he felt a spark rise in his chest. He wanted to be just like Moon, with powerful companions that could deal with the most powerful of beasts.
To do that, he needed to first kill the Canine Hunter before him.
Five minutes later, the canine fell to the ground with lifeless eyes, the injuries finally claiming its body.
Moon clapped from the sidelines, "Well done everyone, you done a good job."
The portal that signified the end of the gate appeared, marking the end of their run.
"Let’s quickly store the corpses in the storage rings and leave. We will split the gate bounty outside."
The others hurriedly nodded and began to store the corpses inside their storage rings before gathering near the gate and stepping inside of it.
